So what's everyone here reading?
And what issue is Y the Last Man on? I haven't bought that in some time.
issue 34..they're finally off the continent..
You should all read The Invisibles.
noted.
i liked the cover of the Hullk, i never read it though.
word. Kaare Andrews did some great covers for the Hulk some time ago. Hulk and other covers
I got quite a few comics yesterday, either at the comic shop or from Amazon:
-- Batman: The Killing Joke. Good story. I got it because of Alan Moore writing it and I want to get more familiar with his stories. That plus I wanted more Batman comics.
-- Sin City vol. 1: The Hard Goodbye. Just finished it a couple minutes ago. Also a good story and cool artwork. I'll be getting the other volumes soon.
-- The Watchmen trade paperback
-- 100 Bullets # 61
-- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
-- Batman: Year One
I just picked up Hellboy: Seed of Destruction and Wake The Devil and I've been meaning to finish Sin City: The Hard Goodbye.

I finished The Watchmen the other night and started reading Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. I finished book one of that series this morning; Frank Miller did some excellent work. I'm liking the subtle features of The Joker in this book instead of that overdone charicature-y look a lot of other artists typically give him.

Barnes & Noble has them. New covers, both series.
I was here. Then I wasn't. Then I was again.
Neil Gaiman -The Books Of Magic
Grant Morrison - WE3
came in the mail; Adriane Tomine - Sleepwalk and Summer Blonde; solid stuff. i'll add to the exchange list once done.
Also, Preacher, Wanted, Sea of Red and New X-Men. d/led them I know its so wrong, but gosh darn it, the library don't have them and neither does anyone on the exchange list. btw, anyone else doing this as well? if so, pm me. i'd like to share info.

does this rank come with disability and dental plans?

Just finished The Dark Knight Returns. Very good story and art. I read the original script for the final book and liked the ending of the original script better than the published ending, even though the differences are subtle.
Up next is Batman: Year One and 100 Bullets # 61.

I only have the first compilation of 100 Bullets.
How was the edning in the script different from the graphic novel?

You whine too much and contradict you're professed need for subservience. I'll be getting a new propoganda minister. The secret police will be along shortly to debrief then dissect you to find out why you are a defective serving unit.
That is all, citizen.

FAKE. It's a manga about two New York City cops that are totally gay for each other.
I'm not kidding.

Batman: Year One was alright. I liked Dark Knight Returns more, but this was a decent story. I'm amazed at how little of this book went into Batman Begins.
i just read the first TPB of The Pulse (Bendis) and the second to last Sandman TPB- The Wake (gaiman) I just need Endless Nights now.
100 Bullets # 61
This was my first issue of this series and, as Rex predicted, made no sense to me, but I'm curious to see what the rest of the series is like.
Amazon made me a happy camper yesterday:
Sin City vol. 2 and 3
Daredevil: Visionaries vol. 1
some very GOOD releases this week.
of course, the usuals; 100 Bullets 62, Walking Dead 20, and New Avengers 7.
new releases; All Star; Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder 1. Some of you might dig this since Frank Miller & Jim Lee are working together on this!
also, Zombie King 0 from Frank Cho. He did the Shanna limited-series, which was packed with a half-naked chick killing dinos. Zombie King is done in black & white. What seperates it from other zombie tales is the outrageous nature of the zombies. hint; these zombies get their freak on.
i ordered this book called "V for Vendetta" thinking it was a novel. its about an alternate reality in which the Nazis win the war, and england becomes a facist country. it takes place in 1997, on my birthday believe it or not. anyway, it turns out, its a graphic novel. i was kind of bummed out.

liar.
I'm watching people attempt to feel better about their lack of control of reality by fostering a sense of illusory control of virtual reality here by pairing down threads that get OT, as if that some how makes the waking world a more bearable place, where towers aren't liable to fall out of the sky and one isn't liable be blown apart on the way to to get take away.
Yes, compensatory control mechanics are always a good fallback plan to a world and ontology in disorder.

Good story by Miller and great artwork by Romita Jr., as usual.
I just got Sin City vol. 4: That Yellow Bastard in the mail last weekend and I hope to start that soon.
I'm reading the new Bret easton Ellis but funnily enough i can't recall the title!
I'm reading Lunar Park too, but I'm going to mention it in Book Club.
Hemingway's A Movable Feast and enjoying it quite a bit.

Wasted - Marya Hornbacher
I'm approaching the halfway point with Lunar Park. So far, definitely not dull... but definitely not like ANYTHING Ellis has ever published.
PSA for recent posters (the last 10 tops): please note what forum this thread is in. Thank you.

aww...how I long for my old mod days, in cases like this..

Daredevil; The Murdock Papers; this will be the last story arc in Bendis and Maleev's long Daredevil run.
Girls; Been enjoying the Luna brothers work.
Justice; Not sure if I'll continue reading this series.
anyone read the sequel to 1608? if so, share your thoughts please because I'd like to know.

You mean 1604 right?
Anyhow, I've only read that first issue ( I think) and it was okay, everything seems to be moving too quickly though in that first issue with way too many gaps. I need to look at it again.
I haven't really bothered with the Girls luna brothers comic. Read the one before and it was okay.
Justice - This is that dc title where the villians are forming up to do something with the heroes or something. I don't recall much I just remember the artist did the Universe X, Paradise X artwork for marvel.
I did however find myself reading Knights of the Dinner Table solely for the fact that I have a friend heavy into gaming and he tells me his adventures still from the game and I laugh at how they make fun of stereotypes and crap in that comic about gamers.
OMAC Project - up and down with this title so far. I've liked it then with a seperate issue felt completely bland about it, mostly with this recent issue.
I just got Sin City vol. 4: That Yellow Bastard in the mail last weekend and I hope to start that soon.
Pretty flippin' sweet. Now I'll rent the movie to compare all the comics.
You mean 1604 right?
I'm retard. It's called 1602.
Earthbound's mentioning of transmogrifers reminds me, I was re-reading Calvin and Hobbes this weekend.
I found these two old comics I've had lying around for a while -- an issue of Classics Illustrated: The Scottish Chiefs and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (the cover is missing). Both are from the 50s and I think I'll give them a read.
Sleeper: A Crooked Line
Sleeper: The Long Way Home
The Losers: Ante Up
The Losers: Double Down

i liked the cover of the Hullk, i never read it though.
