Neon Genesis Evangelion - is there God?

i don't even know what evangelion is. but i'm personally not religious at all.

In poland every anime fan know evangelion. it is classic!:eek:
I was a christian but I'm now ateist because church in poland is a mafia that rule the country.
And I stoped beliving in love and God but I will be always a christian culture fan, because I look on them like ancient myths and its more intersting than greek myths. I evangelion use bible symbols and motives in very intresting way.

I've seen it. But I didn't really understand the religious aspect until reading the wikipedia entry for it. Even after that I didn't care much about it. I was just really into the big robots and the music. And Shinji being the original emo.

from what everyone is writing, i'm guessing its a religious anime series. i don't really follow anime that much. spirited away was pretty good and once i saw a sailor moon cartoon in japanese, which sucked since i don't speak japanese at all.

I agree about this fight. I remember it still, It was the most emotional part of movie.
As I mentioned before I'm a fan of bible symbols and motives so I did't have problem with understending them, but i agree that most of people might have problem.

2 days ago I heve seen last episode of Gilgamesh. It's like X mixed with Evangelion, but useing mythology of babilon. In first part of series it's boring but after 12 episode it become very good, and the last episode it's like End of Evangelion. I'm still in shock after it. :eek:

I've seen the entire series, but I honestly don't see how you pull out a stronger belief in God once seeing it. But I could be wrong.

ok I will explain how I see it. Someone seen eva and he starts to look for more information about what the hell is this lilth, longinus, and rest of names. he got deep in it and goes to study teologic and found God.:eek:

The christian symbolism is in there because it's more exotic for the japanese audience. It doesn't really mean anything. If you translate the series more accurately from japanese, the attacking entities are actually called prophets, not angels.

The series is about overcoming your fears of social encounters and dealing with what's expected from you and what you expect from yerself. And it's about running out of budget in the last two episodes and then telling every fan to fuck off in a big screen movie.

I have seen Evangelion and I think if anything its pretty........ well there is actually a pretty deep religous back story

if youve seen End of Evangelion, Rei turns into God at the end.

I rather think about that as a unity of humanity that become higher beings who rejecet thier unperfect bodies and become one perfect being.

I think more than anything Evangelion reinforced my disbelief in pretty much anything. End of Eva is one of my favorite movies...I watched it about a week ago and this deep seated (and seemingly irrational) depression came over me. I thought about it and eventually figured out that that damn movie made me so depressed.
I really enjoy watching movies with religious themes, even though I'm not religious at all. Luckily I have a friend who is obsessed with Eva and he explained everything to me.

I would say that if anyone turns into God it is Shinji...it is ultimately up to him to decide if humanity can continue to be.

Rei became new lilth, askua and shinji are new adan and eve and hunmanity evolved loosing their bodies and becoming unity again...
