Has anyone read the Hellblazer Comics? I saw the movie constantine and really liked the tone of it but the comic is probably nothing like it. I've been meaning to check them out but i want some opinion on them before i get it. Any Opinions?
I curse the last six months
I've been hiding behind a mustache, yeah.
I haven't ever read the comic, that good huh? I guess I'll have to check them out.
Shaun, did you say your name was?
Hellblazer is one of the best characters in comics. Read some.
Wotcher Alex, that's me, Shaun, if my memory serves me your a hellblazer fan yourself?
Hey av you kept up with Freak Angels, I remember you did a post introducing the concept many moons ago, sorry to say that it didn't keep me coming back but I think I'll go back n check it out now there's a chunk of story to get into. Perhaps it was the style of such small bites that didn't do it for me?
There are no pacts between lions and men.

The comics wipe their ass's with the movie. Constantine is much more a mage rather than a catholic with demon spotting skills. He 's been around a long time and he's aged in real time so he's in his mid forties now. He's very much a master of self preservation with a razor sharp tongue. I can't really recommend a place to start ( his first appearance was as a bit player in swamp thing but I've never read those due to cost) but I fell in love with hellblazer when Garth Ennis took over the reigns and much to the dislike of most long term fans gave him terminal cancer, one thing that the film got right. I think this story arc was called bad habits. The original charecter is a foul mouthed, chain smoking, con artist who happens to be a blonde haired scouser ( Liverpool UK ) warlock. How the fuck mr Reeves got the gig is truly beyond me. As comics go hellblazer is a classic, right up there with Preacher, also by Ennis.
