Darren Aronofsky
is that what the movie was based on?
In 2004 he tried to make the movie with Brad Pitt for a hundred mill or something.
Brad quit and this is based on that version.
The movie that came out had to be done for cheap and scaled down.
I got it when it first came out, well before the movie and It was terrible, but then I ended up hating the film aswell.
All the pretty painted pictures didnt make up for the fact I finished it in half an hour after spending $40US on it.

yeah, but it is different then the movie, the movie in my opinion is really good!
I've seen the GN you're speaking of and wasn't so impressed with the art when I flipped through. Have you seen Aronofsky's other films? Pi is still one of my favorite films of all time.
I think it was bearchaser i saw mention it and I think Aronofsky doing a remake of Altered States would be outta sight!
I agree with you, sir, and would add that Aronofsky directing anything is very cool.
Aronofsky directing a movie version of Haunted...
*goes into geek seizure*
I read that originally Aronofksy and Frank Miller were tagged to a revamping of the Batman movie series, but the studio thought it was too dark (or something similar)...that would have made Nolan's look like a kids show
I'd still love to see them let this guy do an episode or two of Lost.
I just watched the fountain and wondered why what could have been a good 30 mins of drama was dragged out to well only about 1 hour 20 mins not really even feature length. It's a shame because I agree that Pi is a masterpiece of low budget independent filmmaking made for about 7,000 dollars so I hear.
But...
I have to voice my opinion that although I greatly admire Aronofsky, Christopher Nolan is a fantastic filmmaker... He doesn't have the meta-physical flare of the aforementioned director but he's Batman duo has saved a floundering series and momento was a beautiful and intriging film.
Just my two cents.
PS - Where do I find the GN?
You can probably pick it up at Barnes and Noble. I've seen it there before. If the reviews are true, you might be better off just reading it there and not bothering to purchase it!

This thread has been dead for a while, but I love the Fountain, so I will comment anyway.
The Fountain is an amazing piece of art. I was... overwhelmed after the first viewing, but as I continue to watch it, at least once a month, I continue to be amazed. As for the graphic novel, the art is sketchy, and is a compliment to the film, as the intro says, the true "Director's Cut." They never thought the movie would be made, so they released the GN. If you don't like the movie, or are indifferent, you probably won't enjoy the GN. If you liked the movie, the GN gives a different vision of the story.
I love both and would recommend both, but it requires your full attention. It's not a passive story.

Yeah, I know I ain't nobody's bargain
But, hell, a little touchup and a little paint...

I loved the Fountain. I'm curious about the difference between the original story/GN vs finished film.
But yeah. Seriously. Darrin Aronofsky is directing a new Robocop film. (I do believe it's a sequel, not a remake.) Tears of joy everytime I'm reminded of it. Thanks!
this is communication.
