I just got Hard Boiled (Frank Miller, Geof Darrow) not too long ago. Fuckin blew me away.
And Sandman Book I: Preludes And Nocturnes was pretty awesome also. I'm working on getting the rest of them but I have to feed my cd addiction too.

I'm working on a comic that's a mix between Hellblazer and Sandman, with some FLCL in there and a scientific twist.

I need a title.

That sounds awesome.
I'm a big fan of Hellblazer too.
And Hellboy that'd have to be my fave of all time... Mignola is fantastic

Just caught WANTED, from Mark Miller and J.G. Jones (S.G. Jones brother?) over at Myspace's Comic Book page. First issue is a free download - think I might try and catch these as they fly. Beyond that I still want to pick up Bite Club, and also want to crack my teeth on 100 Bullets.

its pretty twisted, but damn good. It's coming out as a movie. I wonder if it will be as offensive as the comic, not just content wise but you'll know what I'm asking if you make it to the end.

I finished Watchmen a while back.
It's probably the best Graphic Novel I've ever read.

The characters and plot line are very, very gripping.
And the ending is phenominal.

Got a hold of a copy of V for Vendetta today and then rewatched the movie also. The book is great and all but I'm now more impressed with the film. They did a helluva job condensing all that down into a 2 hour movie and even improved on it in some areas.

Corellion.  Bite Club is a okay read.  Nothing amazing.  You are better off hitting up a title like 100 Bullets.  I'd also suggest the DMZ. its also under the DC Vertigo imprint.  I haven't kept up with comics over the last year so I don't know what exactly is new.  I dislike a lot of what they have done with marvel and I haven't really read anything within DC either.

The Walking Dead is an awesome series I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it or not I sorta skimmed most of this but Runaways is also one of my fav. series and then catch Civil War which is good too. I haven't read very many comic books lately. FLCL and Battle Royale are good ones also previously mentioned.

The best graphic Novel I've ever read was [i]Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth[i], which was hauntingly illustrated by Dave McKean and written by Grant Morrison. I won't go too far into the details of the book, but basically the book is based around using the Arkham Asylum as a Jungian metaphor for Batman's psyche. Most amazing about it to me is the artwork, which was done in an age without photoshop, but is absolutely stunning... and to imagine doing it all by hand can only bring more respect to Dave McKean from me.

Just bought a collection of Will Eisner graphic novels at this huge bookstore in Austin.  Invisible People and The Building were amazing.  the other two novels in the collection had their moments.

I gonna go catch up on later issues of DMZ via graphic novels.  I got somewhere around issue 12 or 14 before stopping.  Its a really decent series from the Vertigo line from DC.

I have the Preacher, but I didn't finish it up (same thing with Y the Last Man & The Boys. I love them but then I wander to something else and forget about them for awhile). I read both Watchmen & The Crow in the past couple of months. Watchmen is superior to any other graphic novels I've read...love V for Vendetta, too. And 30 Days of Night, which are admittedly, a guilty (cheesy) indulgence.

I hardly ever read graphic novels. The last one I read was "the painting that ate paris" and it was pretty cool. The doom patrol goes through some weird shit. It was a lot weirder than some of the Bizarro (genre not comics) I've read.

I just read the entire run of The Walking Dead (54 issues now) in two days. It is shit hot. Also, I enjoyed Joss Whedon's entire run of Astonishing X-Men. It was like he wanted to put them through the shitter - some more than others - from the very beginning, and on those last few pages he wrote every fucking thing falls into place, because you know what: he did plan it! And I kinda hate him for toying with me like that.

"Death Note" for the story, "Arkham Asylum: A serious house on serious earth" for the artwork.

I've been meaning to look into Y the last man, The walking dead, and Stray Bullets sounds interesting.

You can't go wrong with Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely with WE3

Has to be one of my all time favorite mini series. So touching an heartbreaking at particular moments through out each issue. The end alone pulls on the emotional core about what the whole story was about an one of the few moments in reading a comic where i actual had to hold back a tear.

100 Bullets is a definite for those that post here on the site. Particular volumes in the series worth picking up "The Hard Way" and "The Counterfeit Detective" two of my personal favorites. and one last from this series as well "Once Upon a Crime" Honestly i recommend reading it from the start. But these particular volumes have great arcs in them that really hit you hard. Eduardo Risso and Azzarello really have a all time classic in my mind with this series.

Aside from those two series. I would definitely also pick up Garth Ennis Max series of Punisher. Two particular volumes to read from this amazing run by the man would be "In The Beginning" and "Up is Down, Black is White" You want to know what drives Frank Castle and who he really is. Read these volumes. By far the best adaptation of the character placed into a more serious realm in the marvel Uni without the super hero nonsense. My favorite all time Punisher series and this particular set of issues make me enjoy the man even further.

Its very good although gets a bit psychedelic at times. Similar themes to his Invisibles stuff and reminded me of Millar's Wanted (the comic, not the movie) and Michael Moorcock's novels.

I'd recommend Kick-Ass as one to keep an eye on. Its pretty damn cool.

read it before the upcoming movie ruins it for you

AKIRA is truly a must read for anyone who has not leered through it. Sandman is an obvious suggestion. Wanted is very Fight Club esque (very. almost to a point where I could see that fact being a gripe for some readers), but it's still a good read.

Last comic book I've read is Coraline The Graphic Novel. I've reall enjoyed reading it because i really like the book and this was - simply put - eye-candy for me. Also, i'm biting my nails for the movie since the release in my country is going to be on 1st of May. I just can't wait for it. Back to the comic, it's beautifully drawn and it's practically the whole book condensed in there. If you haven't read it and you long for something fantasy-ish, buy it !

My current fav is Incognito by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. They also created Criminal which is fantastic noir. Incognito is about a supervillan in witness relocation who starts doing good. People start to notice for all the wrong reasons.

I just finished reading Daniel Clowes' Ice Haven. It was a pretty interesting read. Short too.
The artwork in it is really solid and colorful. it's pretty funny if you enjoy weird humor and weird comics like that.
The story is coherent though, but the humor is just kinda hard to get. The stories presented flow together very seamlessly creating a pretty compelling story in such a short amount of time.

Read all 7 volumes of Sin City. They were great, but Frank Miller has some serious problems with women. Seriously, no women look as good as he draws every single one. Also, you cannot see their nips poking out when they're wearing full body armor there Frank. I don't know what his Ma did to him, but he really needs to see a shrink.

Also, read the first volume of Absolute Sandman. Did not like it. My overall problem with Gaiman, is that I like his concepts, but dislike where he goes with them. For example, you can't have Fate and God exist in the same reality. It just doesn't work. The best parts that I found where the interludes, not the main storylines throughout. My roommate was a huge fan of all 4, but he's always had a thing for Gaiman.

Best comic book I had read last time was the Marvel civil war, its kinda timely and for me it represents something on how our world disputes work today. we can all relate to the story line too.
