Nightmare Box Tattoo
Hey guys, The Nightmare Box has been one of my favorite short stories since I first read it a few years back. I've been trying to decide on my next tattoo, and since most of the tattoo ideas I have lined up have something to do with literature, I figured a picture of the Nightmare Box could be really interesting. I did a bit of research online and couldnt find any sketches of it or anything; I know the book gives a decent description of what it looks like, but I SUCK at art. Do you guys have any ideas? Feel free to post a sketch or anything. Even if its terrible it could still be funny so have at it.
Also, do you think this is the right forum for this topic? :11:

I would suggest going to the place where you are going to get your tattoo from and explaining to the artist what you want, they may come up with something amazing.
I got my second tattoo from an illustration from a children's book (outside over there) and plan to get another one from a Maurice Sendak illustrated book. Anyway, the guy that I have gone to does an amazing work and my freind who has all her back and thighs done will just go to him with an idea and he will draw them, his work is so beautiful.

Outside Over There is my absolute favorite children's book. most people have never heard of it! i have a ratty old copy that was given to me in 1981 when my sister was born. if you'd be willing to share, would you post a pic of your tattoo? or pm me with it? i would love to see it. which illustration is it from?
Its from the last page, just some of the sunflowers, but Roger has done a beautiful job with lots of detail. I may get some more work from the book on it at some point.
I'm afraid I only have my little phone camera so it doesnt look too great.
the first tattoo i got was from a book cover, a pretty creepy book called Cristovs Testament, i don't much care for it now.
So do you recommend not getting tatoos based on something at least semi-non personal? Or does it even matter.....
think this guy ever actually got this tattoo?

i sure hope so. I like to imagine someone walking around with a Nightmare Box lower back tat.
I used to make the tattoos on people and I highly suggest you go in and let the artist do whatever they want on you.
EDIT: These are two examples of me telling a tattooist they can do whatever they want.

A tattoo of the Nightmare Box... I'd never thought of that.
Fuck, I'm gonna get that as soon as I get the money!
That is an awesome idea for a tattoo. When you get it post pictures of it. I would like to see that.
you should just show the passage to the tattoo artist, and he/she will come up with a sketch for you.
The nightmare box in youtube is the crappiest prop ever. (Please don't take offend in this McMuddle) And the clip was so boring.
I agree with meowgu.

Hey,
You'd probably be best off looking for a picture of one of those old-timey box cameras on a tripod where the photographer had to have his head under a black hood. From a design standpoint I think that's what it's based on.
And any good tattoo artist can sketch anything you want. It's what they're there for.
