I just bought Haunted today.
I'm excited to read it. I'm reading Rules Of Attraction but I just put it aside to begin this book. The guy who runs the book store said it's his favorite Palahniuk book.
my favorite was LULLABY

“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”
-James Baldwin
I liked Lullaby. If you said Diary it would be an entirely different story.
Anyway, I liked Haunted. I know it's not a favorite around here. There was something in it about a stone being polished by all the harsh things in life that clicked with me. I wish I could remember the exact quote.
I thought Haunted was okay, but my faves are Choke and Invisible Monsters. If I had to choose between those two I would have to say Choke.
Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it.
Haunted is definently my favorite. It is the first Chuck book I read and "Guts" blew my mind. I have been hooked ever since.
ENJOY!!! Does it have the glow-in-the-dark cover?
I met Chuck on the Haunted tour, and the afterword in that book is what really inspired me to write my first novel (technically my second).
“The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane.” -- Nikola Tesla
I just read guts and it was cool. I dunno, I guess hearing so much about it I was expecting to be revolted and shocked. It's definitely a chuck story and I like it but I dunno... Maybe I'm just not as sensitive as the majority of his readers.
Side note: I'm not happy how final destination stole his premise. I heard it was similar but Jesus it's flat out plagiarism!

I haven't tried but it is a first addition.

It's Imke's favorite, too. My favorite is Invisible Monsters. Enjoy!
