Favorite Short Stories
What would you say your favorites are?
I'd say ("Guts" aside) that I really enjoyed the Exodus story by Director Denial, and I also got really interested in the Mrs. Clark stories about Cassandra.
Oh we're talking Haunted's short stories? Then "Product Placement" by far.
If not Haunted, then "Suffer the Fool" by Will Christopher Baer
I LOVE FUCKING TREES
and I was pretty sure you were going to be stumped.
hey, mike. this is the haunted forum.
(and suffer is one of my favs as well.. i was quite glad when we got it here.)

is about a guy just released from jail trying to quickly piece his life back together but doesnt really know how to go about doing so. he winds up stealing a car from his ex girlfriend but fills it with premium gasoline because he feels that it is the least he could do. in the end, he's as lost as ever, but he manages to get the ex girlfriend off his mind by coming full circle with a small loss for a small loss. intriguing story and a closed circle. one of baer's first two published stories from Bomb magazine circa 1997. i love the writing and the story. old, but still new. something like that. hi, by the way..

That was good, but I didn't really understand why he cut Emma's hair in the end.
I never understood that either. I'm not very good at interpretting things.
My best guess is that it has something to do with the fact that his friend told him to cut the room mate's hair. He then goes into Emma's room and cuts hers. I don't know why.
Either that or the hair represents something.
Or nothing....nothing at all perhaps.

Yeah, I was never too good at interpretting either.
Yeah, I was never too good at interpretting either.
I like "Guts" and the one about the anatomically correct dolls, I forgot it's title though.
The Nightmare Box.
The Nightmare Box was my favorite. Evil Spirits is a close second.
i loved obsolete. it was so dark but somehow enlgihtening
The Nightmare Box. Best.
Masochism is a valuable job skill.
Guts
Exodus
The Nightmare box
And that one about the guy who was hunting down all the people on the street
"The Warmth of Blood" 30 min Short Film
Slumming.
I don't know why other people haven't mentioned it.
nightmare box
and the one with the dude falling into the volcano spring in winter...forgot which one that was
I loved Guts. I first read it in this page, but I read it again in the book. And I also liked Exodus, and the one about the transexual in the women club. That was scarying brilliant.
I can't decide between “Guts” and the Earl of Slander one, I can't remember the name.
And the one with the bowling balls. That was real good too.
the last short history Dr whittier, Mrs. Clark's histories, and GUTS are the best to me, but i liked whole book.
I'm punishing everyone with my English as poor as..as, well, i don't know what say
\o/
hot potting for sure... i dont know why but the process of being boiled alive has always horrified me... i love it
exodus was another great one
crippled was cool because it so reminded me of my best friend
dog years was wonderful because i love twist endings and that one caught me by surprise... which doesn't happen often
but have to give it up to guts, its surreal and yet strangely familiar,
i like poems the too... land marks and proof were the best
i was at work the other day when my coworker said that the dinner rush was gonna be like getting my own ass served to me ona platter. i was instantly and happily reminded of CP's Haunted.

exodus is my personal fav. it is by far the most fucked up story i've come across. marquis de sade has nothing on chuck's sense of horror haha
