Create the cover to Chuck's new novel: Huanted

I think [u]Huanted[/u] will be better than [u]Dairy[/u].

I think so too. Chuck loves short stories. Most of the chapters to his novels could be read as short stories. I'm sure Huanted will be great.

Like the one with the blood spilled, reminds me of IM tho with the line about " no matter how much you love someone, you'll step away when their puddle of blood gets to close" or however it goes

I'm waiting for somebody to make better ones though. I made the one with the blood on it in my paint program but with the others all I did was resize a bunch of photos and write "Haunted" and "Chuck Palahniuk" on them.

those of you who have read this children's book know it has some fucking creepy drawings in it. They used to scare the shit out of me when I was little.

These covers are really great. Not only am I going to include all of them in our next Art Update on the site, but I'll also throw them in our new Haunted section (coming soon). I think I may even show them to Chuck in our next correspondence. Hell, maybe it will inspire Doubleday to come up with a better cover than Diary this time around. This book has potential to have a sick cover.

Thanks, yes I did. It's a drawing which has been shrunk down, duplicated 3 times and then layered on each other.

You've done a bunch, they're cool! Are all the photos yours?

None of the photos are mine. I took most of them off Google. The only one I can take all the credit for is the one with the blood on it.

And the Diary cover did suck. They were'nt even trying that time, were they?

I figured I'd give a try. Its not really very practical, not really a center object either, but I decided to try to balance it out anyhow.

I looked at the way you made the font all messed up and I thought, "dammit, why didn't I think of that?"

Plus it has a lot of detail I missed at first glance. I like the tranparent skull and typing all over it. This is what I was talking about when I said I was waiting for other people to do a better job than me.

Just out of interest, what exactly did you search for in Google?
I fancy making one, but I put in 'haunted', and a few related words-weird, creepy, unnatural, etc.
But to no avail.

When you search for a pic on google, it's hit and miss. Sometime you find a great photo and sometimes not. Be open to using pics you were'nt exactly looking for. Most of my best covers are of pics I found by accident. Also maybe you should'nt search for such obvious words. I posted "creepy" and "haunted" too and didn't find much. I also tried looking for a good pic of somebody's backyard pool, to go along with Guts. I found nothing.

My first cover I found by typing in "tree" and I think that is one of the best. I also used "door" and "silhoute." Anything can be on the cover since we have no idea what any of the stories in Haunted will be about, except guts. So just go nuts and type in any random word.

i like them all except the naked old ladie and the jackass. but if i had to choose just one i would either pic angus' door one or the dishfish's second one. looks like old wallpaper and i like that.

great way to relieve some work related stress too.

here's the one i did.

I used google to find the skull I used, I searched for "human skull" and "skull". Then for the second one I wanted a to bring in woods or like trees or something into it, so I searched for "branches" and found the black and white tree I overlayed transparently into the second one.

If you use the advance image search you can look specifically for black and white, color or greyscale or whatever. Very handy for various things.

Heres another one I just got done making. I still used the same font, only because I love it so. I think the next one I make will be less generic-horror looking and more Palahniuk-horror looking. After all the book is a modern horror collection, not as much ghost and ghouls as just crazy and sickening, so hopefully the next one will be more reflective of the minimalistic style and the style of the book. I still like this one alot though, the photo could be a better, but its the only slightly appropriate one I could find at the time. It looks spooky enough/

Great Job Trypdwyre. Do you have a lot of free time at work to post on this forum and play with Adobe Photoshop? Shouldn't you be organizing the card catalog?

This is the road I live on, and an a pic from our movie -The Horror- layered with Adobe Photshop CS.
Touched up a bit by removing the power lines and cloning trees, ect. Smoothing it out a bit.
The only thing not edited, was the color of the sky, it was truly [I]that [/I] Orange...thats why the picture was taken to begin with.
