BOSTON --On April 25, Gregory Despres arrived at the U.S.-Canadian border crossing at Calais, Maine, carrying a homemade sword, a hatchet, a knife, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained with what appeared to be blood. U.S. customs agents confiscated the weapons and fingerprinted Despres. Then they let him into the United States.

Quote:

The following day, a gruesome scene was discovered in Despres' hometown of Minto, New Brunswick: The decapitated body of a 74-year-old country musician named Frederick Fulton was found on Fulton's kitchen floor. His head was in a pillowcase under a kitchen table. His common-law wife was discovered stabbed to death in a bedroom.

Despres, 22, immediately became a suspect because of a history of violence between him and his neighbors, and he was arrested April 27 after police in Massachusetts saw him wandering down a highway in a sweat shirt with red and brown stains. He is now in jail in Massachusetts on murder charges, awaiting an extradition hearing next month.

alas the noob has a point. when we became paranoid of everyone they won. when people stopped flying they won.for gods sake we have a completely useless piece of media paranoia called the color coded terror alert indicator which goes up if someone has a wet fucking fart.

the fact that people in our own country are coming down on our own millitary for "mistreating" prisioners in fucking POW camps, and supposedly pissing on their "holy book" makes me sick. the fact is, i bet you, those sand sucking sons of bitches are living better on our dime for breaking the law than they were in their own countries.

you'd be a liar to tell me peoople over there would give a shit if they pissed on us, if the tables were turned

true, to an extent, but we're not supposed to be comparing our way of life to their way of life. we're supposed to be above torturing people and pissing on their holy shit (ha). but unfortunately, we're not. we're supposed to lead by example but we don't.

I agree with what I bolded, but the rest is bullshit.
Yeah lets justify torture, that sounds really good.

They "broke the law"? What law? The USA is obviously superior to you and can invade your country if they want so too bad for you law? And they must have been on trial and everythign if they BROKE THE LAW.

The USA is supposed to be this nation that can lead by example, that can do the right thingwhen others can't. Many believe this to the point of arrogance, mainly because they are so proud of what they're country stands for, or should stand for. So when they hear about pirsoners being tortured, beaten, attacked, molested, degraded and abused, they will get angry. The things they thought their nation stood for simply aren't true. They feel like hypocrites. What happened to the great America, upholder of rights and freedom?
What happened to leading by example?

Call me a liar. There would be people over there who would feel the torture of people or the degradation of prisoners was wrong, but if they said anything, they would ened up in the same positiona s those prisoners or worse. They dont have a voice to raise their concerns.
Luckily, people in America do have that voice and can stand up for what they think is right, and do not have to fear prosecution from the government raining down on them. At least at this point.

You are full of bullshit as usual. Next thing you know, you'll be saying that America no longer has an official language... O wait.. it never did.

NO ONE is being "tortured" especially in the camp in cuba. im sure they posed the prisoners for the pictures with that woman, im sure you mean those. which isnt torture, humiliation, sure, if your religion tells you its ok to kill your wife if she disobeys you.

ive seen americans do worse things to the christian bible, and no one gives a shit. so why should i, and why would you, of all people care what is done to the holy book of an enemy? hmm. answer that one.

the truth is, these guys get regular meals, showers, beds, and probably air conditioning. thats hardly torture compared to what they would do to you. and its almost surely better than the lives they led as TERRORISTS hiding in the mountains

i dont give a fuck what happens to their holy book, i'm just not ignorant enough to think that by desecrating the stuff they hold dear that they're going to be pacified and will stop trying to fly planes into our buildings. to think otherwise is just fucking retarded. and the torture happens, chaney even admited that it happens. rumsfelt admitted that it happened. it happens and we need to make sure it doesn't happen because every time you read that that shit is going on, that's more american soldiers who're going to get killed because the war is going to go on even longer.

also, not everyone in detention is a terrorist, just like not everyone in american who's been arrested is actually guilty. probably a good percentage of those detainees aren't guilty of anything, so that makes torturing them that much worse.

well, i know not everyone is a terrorist who is detained. but being "detained" is much better than being beheaded. this is what they do to our innocent people, you know? oh your a contractor? you want to help us? fuck you we will cut your head off

still, your comparing us to them, and that's not the right way to look at this shit. "Oh, well at least we're not cutting off their heads." Well, no shit, now I feel better--we're using dogs to fuck with them, we're stacking them in big naked gay pyramids and snapping their photos, we're flashing pictures of their leader's dead sons, we're doing all this shit that makes matters worse--but at least we're not cutting off their fucking heads, so we're still the good guys.

no matter how ya slice it, cassun, demoralized is better than dead

should we? probably not
do we need to? nah
is it gunna happen anyway? yes

bitching about it wont stop it because our guys know as well as you and i do that we have it worse in their jails, if we make it that far. as long as they are seen as the enemy, and the people of tryants who kill their own citizens, and perpitrators of violence against innocent people it isnt going to stop. i agree that it doesnt make it right, but we arent there to stop it, and its obviously not going to be stopped to any useable degree by suits in washington.

the only way its going to stop is by continuing to get it brought to the attention of people, through media coverage and whatnot, by exposing what's really going on, and bush and his team are trying to make that not happen. even then, it'll still happen but it'll just take different forms, it'll go in different directions. americans will always be the enemy as long as they feel we're controling their countries, taking their oil and looking down on them. so the only way this shit is going to subside at all is by backing the hell out and mind our own fucking business--unfortunately, there's no money to be made minding our business, so that's not going to happen. still, the point is if we want to make ourselves a little bit safer, we should probably not say we're above torturing people and we hate people that torture people if that's exactly what we do. nobody likes a hypocrite, you know.

You are blind.

Torture happens. They have admitted it. They say it is reasonable. Open your eyes.

Yes, so lets make generalizations about an entire nation of people. They are all blood thristy sand niggers who want to destroy good ole america. Damn them and their satanic book to hell!

You are a joke.

Although I think most of the Abu Ghraib stuff falls short of the Geneva Convention definition of "torture" (the beatings you could argue otherwise) it was uncalled for.

But going by percentages, except for the trucker they nailed up in a shed and left to die, most of their prisoners were executed. We're putting the thousands of prisoners we have in the care of farm kids with poor impulse control, and we're feeding them.

Some of the people we've captured aren't bomb-throwing insurgents, but the ones who are bomb-throwing insurgents will try to convince their captors that they're just farmers or taxi drivers or whatever. I mean... wouldn't you?

The way I see it, if you're being tortured, you'll know it.

And if I was a Canadian border guard, I'd be very happy that the chainsaw guy was leaving my country.

Stepping aside the Terrorist torture thing, and what not. My real concern behind all this is how a guy from Canada with all the wrong signals (stains on the chainsaw, the weapons, and just look at his face) passes by without a problem.

This shit is beyond 9/11 or the war on Iraq. If it had happened prior 9/11 it would have still be just as fucked up.

Of course adding up the 9/11 thing, and possibly the race/nationality card. It gets even uglier.
