I've talked about it with all sorts of girls and they admit to this...and if these girls arent being the center of attetention, they cry, or make a scene...it's just things i've noticed...I'm not sure what kind of setting you're in, but I'm a college sophmore at a pretty big university, and i can honestly say that the majority of girls are like this. and i AM writing a paper on the social roles of our society, but it's mostly about racism, not so much about genders roles...but there are some things about that...I didn't say anything in this thread to piss anyone off, i was joking around...but it is how i feel so take that for what it's worth.

They really need to make an example out of her to stop this from happening again...the only problem is that, if they bring her to trial, she just gets more media coverage, and therefore she's more in the spotlight, which may make it more appealing for copycats...I think if the punishment is harsh enough it could prevent it from happening even more...but it is a misdermeaner obstruction charge, if anything, and the maximum sentence would be 9 months in prison...i think house arrest, however, would be the perfect punishment.

See, now you are confusing two different things with being attention seeking. Yes, women have been taught to be attractive and to out do each other. It is inherent in the animal kingdom, although typically it is the male fighting to be the noticed one, instead of the other way around. I fully admit that some girls walk into a room and check out the competition and try to be the best, but this is not the majority of women, and I don't care who you have talked to. Even still, this isn't attention seeking. Attention seeking is throwing fits and causing drama to draw attention towards yourself and that is definitely not a common female trait. You are falling for their game by assuming all women are this way, you are letting the few loud ones overshadow the rest of the population.

Now, if you want to talk about the basic human need to be noticed and needed, this is definitely true. But it is true for men and women. Both need to be noticed, they just go about it in different ways. This is totally different than the few drama queens who need constant doting.

If you are going to write a paper about this, you should probably get a more balanced opinion than just hanging out at a college.

I agree with you for the most part with what you said, but the paper i am writing isnt really about gender roles, its mostly about race roles, and im not just hangin out at a college, its just that truthfully the majority of girls i know here are like that(throwing fits etc). I know thats not a majority of women thing, it just seems that way. It may just be the living area im in, because their are 5 living areas on campus and you can get a different experience from each one.

The gender portion of my paper (if youre interested) is about the term "violence against women". I dont feel like this is the proper term because it makes it seem like a women's issue, instead of a societal issue. The term that should be used (imo) is "men's violence against women" due to the fact that 96% of the violence against women is by men...not that 96% of men are viloent against women, its actually a very small percentage. but saying it the new way would make it a men's issue as well. Men need to stand up to the issue just as much as women, because the guys doing it are giving good guys a bad name...this is just a little summary of it...no one probably cares though so ill shut up now...haha

seems as though your small bit of drama queens crave the attention of each and every cell in the known universe, but hey, thats a small percentage, right? then most males.. well, most of us are after the attention of every single reasonably attractive female on the planet. as for females in general.. well, im sure they are after the converse of what attention males seek.
