I get a boots on the ground interview.

http://freeconcord.wordpress.com/2011/09/25/a-view-from-the-occupy-wall-...

The NH copblock crew went down to NYC yesterday and got some crazy footage of the aftermath of the mass arrests, cops shoving people with their batons, etc. I'll throw the vid on Free Concord tomorrow.

I've got a friend hitchhiking up there to be a part of this. I hope something actually comes of it; rather than it just being another protest swept under the rug with plenty charges to bring the state money.

Only watched the first minute and a half but they should have picked people who project intelligence (or are at least articulate) to interview. If the majority of people out there are shouting, "I thought that we lived in a democracy," the least the police officers should do is arrest them.

a-fucking-men

but that's how shit works. watch the news, and no matter what the story is, the field anchor will (without fail) interview the most inbred person there. there could be a street full of astronauts and rhode scholars with IQ's higher than einstien, and they'd interview someone with all the trappings of a jeff foxworthy bit.

Why are they protesting again? Do we have too many fast food restaurants? Too much crap to buy at Walmart at 3am? Man, i hate having the freedom to choose from an assortment of many different models of cars. I hate being able to use the internet for free nearly anytime i want. I hate having 50 restaurants to choose from within a 10 mile radius. I hate not being slaughtered because i disagree with our leaders. I hate being able to worship any God i want. I hate being able to research any prospective entrepreneurial endeavor i might be curious of. I hate being able to freely gather and freely protest nearly anywhere i want as according to our bill of rights. Fuck all of those inventions created in America because of the freedom and liberty we were given to use all of those decades and centuries ago. OMG corporate greed has run rampant and unchecked even though many corporations and conglomerates have fallen and been punished in the past decade or so and there are many more regulations in place to prevent it from happening again and we're still recovering from said failures caused by corporate greed. But fuck it, i'll stand there with a sign and cry "POLICE BRUTALITY, WHAT IS THIS, LIBYA??" until my easy white-man trust-fund-baby life is just a little bit easier because i'm a fucking spoiled, over-educated fucking brat.

Just sayin'.

If they have that many people there, why don't they all just go into whatever building they're protesting and everyone flush all the toilets at the same time?

Imagine the bigger tax cut they would take from the ninety-nine to pay for the water bill! Hoh man, they would riot for sure. Don't let the one percent hear you, they'll dress up as hipsters and do that.

I dunno, man. The random youtube videos are pretty bad, too. Doesn't seem like they need a lot of help from the news to look like disjointed, unorganized...uh...folks.

Wow... okay, that was so freakin' pathetic. And marxism? Kill capitalists? Jesus Christ. I could barely finish watching the video. I'm so embarrassed for these people. That guy can go eat a dick, though.

What they're doing is being called, 'the people's microphone'. It looks cultish, but is actually a very effective way of creating a harmonious collection of human microphones to relay one person's voice to an entire crowd. If you don't want to repeat, nothing is compelling you.

Marxists tried to coopt Atl too early it seems. In NH, there's a bunch of interests waiting for their opportunity, but the process is so deliberate I don't think they'll get it.

Here's the much better video from the second general assembly, held in Concord. I cut out the committee bullshit, and chopped up the people's mic so its only the speaker speaking. I'm working on other clip vids, one on the ppl's mic I'll post here.

I think watching the police react is getting increasingly interesting.
Covering up name tags in riot gear for sake of anonymity that a lot of the 99 per centers who are out there are claiming. [In Oakland.]
I'm not really thinking bad nor good of it because I guess I never thought about them being able to do something like that. It's just crazy to watch. This is the source. http://www.pixiq.com/article/oakland-pd-covers-nametags
A lot of people are complaining this will heighten police brutality some are experiencing.

Haven't their badges been covered up ever since they invented riot gear? Why is it an issue all of a sudden?

They have their names written on their riot gear.

I didn't think it was an issue I just thought it was interesting people are freaking out so much over it.
I didn't think they even had their names on riot gear in the first place, to be honest.

Same here. I would have thought riot gear stuff was just stored in some big trunk and when they needed it, they just throw out gear to whoever catches it. Seems like putting names and assigning specific riot gear to people is a waste of taxpayer money.

That's how I imagined it happening.

How exactly is that a waste of taxpayer money (putting officers' names on their gear)? Would you rather they be unidentifiable??

You'd have to pay for it to be printed or painted on it. They should definitely be identifiable in their regular uniform, but they're going to be in a regular uniform way more than wearing riot gear.

It's kind of obvious, isn't it? Aren't the cops being accused of being overly violent? No way to identify them... no accountability... I'm not sure if it'd even be possible to read while getting tear gassed but I can't think of a single positive reason for them to bother putting tape over it at all.

If they've already got their names on them and they're covering them up with tape then that is bad juju.

Trust me, I understand the concept. I just find your logic of the cost/benefits to be pretty damn short-sighted. How much money could it possibly cost to sew a name onto a uniform, or a badge number? Compare that to how much more likely they are to make a critical error of judgement when "controlling" a "riot" than when on regular duty.

How often, say, in a year, do you think they'd be wearing riot gear? Like in any average city, not counting Detroit.

Also, just going by what I remember from the movie The Fugitive, whenever they storm someone's house or where ever, don't they just wear the blue windbreakers with the yellow block letters on the back identifying their branch? Or do those have individual markings?

The people mic thing fucks with my head. Every time I have participated I got overly excited because I "knew" what the person was going to say next and I get ahead of the person we are mic checking with what I am yelling and then I feel silly.

Why would that matter? By that logic, even having riot gear at all is too costly, considering my hometown hasn't needed it for over a decade. But the fact is that they do need it, and the money necessary to have it is worth it. But to suddenly decide to skimp on the spending by not adding some form of ID on the gear just because it would cost relatively little extra, despite the fact that it gives them some serious anonymity while they're trying to control a riot? That's quite ridiculous.

This Libertarian group I recently got out of believes we're gonna look a lot like Greece in the next few years. These guys are pretty damn smart, they know their shit, and it's a little scary, but I also think they're exaggerating a bit. They're seriously fanatical about their beliefs. They act a lot like children, actually, with their "us" versus "them" attitude, telling jokes about pro-big-government supporters, as if people are stupid for thinking a government helps. I'm Libertarian and all, but it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I see people act like this about such a serious issue. They make Jon Stewart and Colbert look pretty moderate about their jokes. They simply render themselves incapable of attracting anyone to join, as if they simply specialize in preaching to the choir. They're not the most pleasant people to talk to, is what I'm sayin'. Meanwhile, I'm outside talking to liberal activists, convincing some through my own economic interpretations to look at things a different way, preaching about individual responsibility and the philosophy of liberty in ways people will be able to appreciate so they can see our point of view rather than see us as a bunch of crazies. It was a rather disappointing experience. Then again, it wasn't much different from any other activist group I've checked out.

It's all so disappointing.

Sounds like they've got some psychological need to be a part of a group while keeping as many people excluded from that same group and they're ideology is just a by-product.

I think they were pretty sheltered as kids, so they're just really excitable when it comes to being in a group of like-minded people. It seems even they're aware of this. This is the first conversation I had with them a few weeks ago:

Me: "Hey, remember me?"
Guy: "I think so."
Me: "I'm the guy you went up to and said, 'Hey, you look like a Libertarian. Wanna join our group?' And I was like, 'You bet.'"
Gal: "Jake, you said that? That's mean."
Guy: "Why?"
Gal: "Cuz Libertarians are usually the nerdiest of political activists, and nerds aren't known for being good-looking or sociable."

I then proceeded to hit on her until I realized how crazy she was. Then I decided to keep it professional. Then I realized they're all crazy. Now I'm looking elsewhere for stuff to do.

Do you think they call it "Occupation" because none of them have a real occupation, so they've just made this their occupation?
