A jury convicted Lori Drew of three misdemeanor charges of computer fraud, but rejected felony charges and was deadlocked on a conspiracy count.

The defendant, Lori Drew, 49, faces up to three years in prison and $300,000 in fines, according to federal sentencing guidelines.

A 49 year old woman who's "nemesis" is a 13 year old girl speaks multitudes in itself. In a world where lonely people find comfort in a virtual existence, where virtual people with personalities most likely created with more than a pinch of wishful thinking put their faith in a honor system that means next to nothing anymore.

I began using this site a while ago and do actually trust that the people I communicate with are being as honest as myself. With the protection of a screen name I have shared experiences and quirks with people but my concern is that for a few this level of existence is going to be their stories for the future.

Even our future mistakes are becoming faceless and sanitized, as in no real contact with the outside world. Ironically enough I find myself expressing my concerns on a site created for fans of a certain writer who became notorious for pointing out the faults of modern living. Someone likened this place to a favorite bar and rightly so but there are no drunken punches thrown, no drawled apologies, no drunken hook ups and the worries if a friendship will survive a night of desperate fucking. I know that most people who use this sight have a strong life outside of here but I do worry about a couple of the younger members.

What's especially horrible is that that women was doing this with her own 13 year old daughter. That's some fucked up parenting.

This place is a great community. We look out for each other, especially the younger members. We've only ever had one predator (as far as I know) and I kicked his ass outta here. He was harassing a 14 (15?..it was a long time ago) year old boy through private messages. The kid left after because he was so upset.
