Most men won't take anything that will effect their genitals. Who knows... side effects may be shrinkage... you never know... and the guy's that would consent are "those" guys... the ones who's wives talk them into thinking that having scrotal surgery to get your male tubes tied is a good idea. You want feminist conspiracies... just the tip o' the iceberg...
what's there to be hopeful for? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Every chick I've ever known on the pill complains of swelling and water retention and bloatedness and feeling bad, at one time or another. I mean, you want shared responsibility? What a waste... two people fucking and both on the pill? That's just wasted pills right there...

Bravo, Brock. Bad news, though. Not all guys think like you. Oh, I know what you will say: only pussy whipped, feminized, girly-men will take contraception... but you are wrong. Sure there might be side effects. Do you think it is right that women should always be the ones to deal with the side effects? Listening to a woman complain about water retention is NOT the same thing as dealing with it. And that is the least of our worries. Increased chance of breast cancer. CANCER. This is not some silly side effect to whine about. Another risk is DVT - blood clotting. Know what can happen with blood clots? They can kill you. I have seen it first hand. Why not give the woman a break? Take some of the responsibility into your own hands. It won't kill you. Maybe women will get smart and start telling guys that they aren't getting any until they get on birth control. The scales tip.
Me, I will keep my birth control, and my boyfriend can thank me for that. The only reason is: my birth control prevents me from having a period. I would take it even if I was never going to have sex again.

Personally, I'd take the damn pill if I had to. Shared responsibility is always good.

First... yes... men should not have to participate in birth control because they are afraid of needles. You convinced me.
To say that men are taking half of the responsibility by using condoms and spermacide (I won't even address heavy petting, because that is in the hands of both parties, not the mans hands - no pun intended) is total and utter bullshit. Sure, it is part of the responsibility, but when it comes to being in a monotonous relationship, the woman takes all the responsibility on again. Most couples use birth control only. And when I say couples, I mean most women. So - if there is an alternative out there with fewer side-effect, and one that fall in the hands of men, why not? Is that just too much participation? Yes, heaven forbid that men should have to go to the doctor and get a shot.

The pill won't stop your period. Only depo will do that. The pill actually has more side-effects, and it is only 89% effective with the way it is used. With perfect use (which no one does) it is 98% effective. That is scary. Each time you have sex, you have an 11% chance of getting pregnant. Depo is 99.5% effective, no room for error.
However, with both methods women tend to gain weight. This is not because of the hormones, but because it increases appetite. So, if you continue eating as you always have, and exercise like you should, you won't gain a pound.

even if you were encased from head to toe in rubber, latex or vinyl pvc, there is no way in hell i am going to get a shot to shut down the production of my little swimmers. when they have it in pill form, well, ok then. no problemo. until then, condoms, spermicide and common sense will have to do.
still, alene, i thought i was being a bit ironical. guess perhaps not.

You should have a depo shot, just once frammy. It hurts like hell. Not the shot, but for the entire day and the next - your arm hurts so bad you can't lift it above your heart. It sucks. Still, I am sure that pregancy hurts a lot worse, so...
I will admit that maybe I am a little jumpy on the subject, probably because birth control is a pain in my ass this month and I am just wishing I didn't have to deal with it. My insurance just changed their policy, they won't cover birth control anymore. So what used to cost me $10 is now going to cost me $120. Fucking blue cross.
at least you have health insurance! my god, i had to fight tooth and nail to have the cost of self-insuring myself deducted from my forgiveable draw. these guys won't give me health care until after 6 months and that's just a maybe.
this terrible news means that i pay 200 bucks for my doctor's visits and 115 for my medication. assholes.
your jumpiness is quite understandable. welcome to middle class poverty.

Women can NOT have their period? Alert the media. Call Mr. Belvedere. Sha-na-na-na... Do I think it's right that women should face side effects? No. Still, better them than me. What a jerk I be. Why should I suffer? So that I know how difficult life is for women? No thanks. I believe childbirth is a painful experience. I think yeast infections must be awful. Sticking my dick in a woman's vagina makes me partly responsible if she gets pregnant, but it's up to her if she wants to keep the kid... isn't that sort of unfair and fair at the same time. I can't make her swell up and get fat and uncomfortable for however long it takes for the dog to plump, but somehow you want it to be my responsibility that she feels miserable and to experience all this miserableness that women apparently suffer through. Sorry ma'am, we're all stocked-up on sympathetic suffering today. Better luck next week...

Logic? Reasoning? Do I understand this correctly? According to your "logic", it is better for her to suffer than you. According to your "reasoning", women want to hold you responsible for the things that happen to their body. What a line of shit, Brock. Come on. You are better than that. Blah blah blah mankind is selfish blah blah blah. If you could take a shot once in a while with little or no side effect to help prevent the women you fuck from getting breast cancer, and you won't do it, you are just an ass. Logic and reasoning has nothing to do with it. And I don't care if you are an ass, but don't try to pass it off as logical thinking. No one holds you responsible for the mess that is a womans body, and quite frankly, I don't give a shit if the guys I date know anything about what I go through. I don't want your bullshit sympathy, but I would appreciate it if you were willing to help out just a bit. I mean, it is not like it hurts you. It is a lot cheaper than a fucking baby. Yet, in your hackneyed little mind you see that as all the womans job. Let her deal with pregnancy and preventing it. Logic according to Brock says: fuck her and her pain. Fucking women. Deal with life on your own time... now, spread 'em baby.
It's a man thing, is it? Sounds a lot like a cop out rather than logic and reasoning. Once again.

Seems I touched a nerve. I want to say right now, I'm fucking sick of people here using the fact that I grew up in a small town as a way of putting me down. Insult my intelligence. Insult my age. But please, from now on, realize that people who grew up in small towns are not dumber than you are. Come here and live for a year. You wouldn't make it. You'd get eaten by deer. So fuck off.
Secondly, a man should take at least equal responsibility that the woman does. Like alene said, the birth control doesn't necessarily always work. Like me for instance: I actually take the stuff to help me ovulate. It doesn't always work for every woman. Also, I'm going to fall back on the old standby: you all do realize that birth control is not covered by insurance, and Viagra is? What the fuck? What is that? Is this the message we want to send? Mindlessly procreate until our planet begins retching us up and we run out of natural resources?
And as for your inquiry about school, it's very feminist. I think it's getting to my brain.
There is hope, but not for us.

Amen, Jane. On both counts. Surprise... someone from Nebraska or Utah or... a girl can actually say something intelligent. Let that sink in, folks. I know it may come as a shock.
Like I said. Pregnancy is covered by insurance, but preventing pregnancy is not. Nice.
Here's a link that works and has some more information. apparently there are "minor" occasional side affects like acne. The second to last line of the article brought a smirk to my face:
"Some say the wait for the contraceptive will not be as long as the wait for men to take responsibility for their own birth control. "
I would take the pill, depending on what the side-affects are. And I would still always wear a condom.
But I think everyone needs to remember a little thing called abortion. Even if the pill doesn't work, or your condom breaks, you can still find trust in a hand dandy coat hanger... or local doctor.
Oh fuck. It's an injection? .... Now there is a lesser chance of me taking it, but I still MIGHT.
A lot of girls won't have abortions.
I only know one girl who wouldn't, but she changed her mind.
They're too young to comprehend what an abortion is.
It's called RU486 if the condom breaks. It is the abortion pill for just in case. But of course, if Norma McCorvey (Jane Roe in Roe vs. Wade, 1973) has her way, all this will be made illegal. And you know what? It is working. 1973: 33% of the population in the US was pro-choice. 2003: 21% pro-choice. We are back sliding. I don't care if you agree or disagree with abortion, these options should be made available to the women who want them. Abortion happens whether it is legal or not. It is just safer when it is.

Kid, there is no "It's a tough world" speech. But please save us your assertions that the world you know in any small way relates to the world the rest of us know. When grade 5 dropout said that lots of girls won't get abortions, he was right. Lots won't. Just because you know a few girls and they all happen to believe in abortion, that does not mean that you have any clue about what most girls think.
1. I would still like to point out that I am NOT talking about a FEW girls.
2. I did not fucking say that I know the world in any fucking way. Jesus. I know that I do not know anything about the world. I know that I never will. Also, I know that lots of girls won't. As I said, I am ONLY talking about MY town.
Note: You qouted me in your sig. I would like to say that I was not saying that in a "Look at me I'm so cool!" tone. More of in a confused way.
I just added that to this post because I didn't feel like double posting again.
Yes, that's right. We are talking about XChucks big, rich, suburban, super-liberal town. Full of hot young chicks (and let me just point emphasis on: LOTS of hot young chicks) that just love XChucks big, dark, black, shaved dick and drive through abortions for when he gets them knocked up in his daddys big mansion on the hill. Can I come visit? Does your daddy use whores? Do you? I could use some cash.
Actually, there aren't that many attractive people here. And it is super-liberal. I have no idea why. And no, I don't use whores. And my daddy has been married to my mommy for 21 years, so I assume he doesn't either. Knocked up? Tsk tsk. You should know that I use all the precautions possible. A condom has never broken for me.
Oh, XChuck. It all goes right over your head, doesn't it.
Oh - and being married for 21 years has NOTHING to do with never using whores.
And.... you use ALL the precautions possible? Including the male birth control shot?
Shazam! Back on topic.
Anyone else really like it when Workingirl post? It's like a rare treat. Maybe I'm just odd..
Health insurance never covers birth control. It's insane. Birth control is a part of women's health, a basic part, just like blood tests and gynecological exams. It's not some bonus extra like vitamins or massage therapy.
Besides, it seems like it would be cost effective for companies to help prevent their employees from taking paid time off for pregnancies.
I don't see men taking a pill becuase the threat of having a child isn't something that will take as big a toll on their body. Worried about side effects is like the worst worry for a man's body. Meanwhile a little acne or bloating is small change compared to the side effects of getting pregnant, like, having a baby growing inside you.
Brock makes me ill the way he talks, but I think he's openly expressing the same things that a lot of guys think, whether they realize it and admit it, or not.
Men shoot and they leave, they get their sexual satisfaction outwardly by thrusting and releasing. Women take it all in, everything is inward and inside. Because of this, there is automatically less of a psychological attachment to whom a man has sex. Taking responsibility for it is not something that comes naturally, but that's too bad. Because humans aren't lower-level animals, they can go against their insitincts. I hope men just suck it up and take pills that they don't want to, for a greater good.
Well said.

"I couldn't stop laughing"
-Fino35
oh, has anyone mentioned the "morning after" pill yet?

The doctor asked me if I wanted to go on the pill, I pretty much laughed at him.
What I find even funnier is imagining some really loved up couple walking into a doctor's surgery and telling the doctor that it's been a really big decision, but they both feel that the guy should go on the pill. It just sounds like such a revelation!
