Superbowl Ads
U.S. football fans will not see ads featuring scantily clad vegetarians or a political attack on President Bush during February's Super Bowl...
...CBS said on Thursday that advocacy advertisements were out of bounds on professional football's biggest day.
that's advertising and the politics of money i suppose.
i'm really pissed about this because now they won't air the commercial from the 30 sec. bush site...
It's preatty hypocritical because last year I remember a certain Drugs fund Terrorism commercial.
("In a letter, CBS told PETA that it would not run advertisements on "controversial issues of public importance."
CBS spokesman Dana McClintock said the policy had been in place for years. "We have a policy against accepting advocacy advertising," he added. CBS, a unit of Viacom, does run political advertising for and against candidates." )
Controversial issues? The policy had been in place for years?
Wow CBS is preatty gutless and hypocritical. It's also funny that beer which kills a lot of people every year gets to be on, But a commercial that exposes the debt that George Bush has run up on our country can not.
"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms." Albert Einstein
Looks like CBS is in the pocket of big brother now. At least we may have hope in fox, they will air anything
As a kid my friends would Fuck any thing that moved, I said why limit my self
^wow.
I heard the ad ran anyway, anyone got info? I looked but my search skills suck...
Actually, Fox is run by Bush's cousin.
The whole "squash advocacy" thing sounds a lot like this. Yeah, I've posted it before, but it relates anyway.
yea, CBS didn't air the PETA ad, nor did they air the 30 sec. bush commercial. CNN aired the 30 sec bush commercial.
why would CBS think they have higher standards for commercials than CNN?
I don't know why, but I just want to say that the "Shard's O Glass" popsicles one was priceless.
you people take sports way too seriously
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
I'm sorry, I didn't realize this thread was about a sport...
maybe you should start paying attention, then.
dorkface.
Hello? I said "shards o' glass popsicles"..
Anybody?
yeah shards of glass. It was good but it was only one of the three that I actually saw. And I was hoping to see the Terry Tate office linebacker commercial and missed it. I think I saw the donkey one and the simpsons one.
Commercials suck.

I don't remember seeing the terry tate at all that day. I saw it on the net the night before.
i definitely loved the Willie Nelson commercial for H& R Block, esp. the Don Zimmer part at the end. "Whaddya think, should I give this kid a shellackin?"
LOL.

Wow. This little thread got CRAZY. People telling me to abuse my girlfriend, people showing an alarming lack of respect for women as a whole, people questioning my masculinity in some kind of bizarre machoistic pissing-contest. Hell, I even got called stuffy.
I cannot stand the Jimi Hendrix Pepsi commercial. Am I the only one? I love Pepsi, and I love Jimi Hendrix...but damn, the two should not coincide in a stupid commercial where Pepsi tries to convince the world that Hendrix's mass fame and genius was all due to them. Stupid commercial. *starts ranting under her breath*
i don't know how but i have managed to not see that commercial yet.

This thread reminds me why I listened to most of the game on the radio. <3
It's not easy having a good time.
Even smiling makes my face ache.

B-b-b-but...I thought the media was liberal, so why would PETA be unable to get their agenda across even when they're willing to PAY MILLIONS?!??!
*so disillusioned*
