Big S's post reminded me of one of the things I hate most about politics: speechwriters. I prefer politicians who sometimes put their foot in their mouth because they speak their mind. Like Bill Clinton or Joe Biden. Modern politicians are like actors who are directed by their advisors and scripted by their speechwriters. That's what I hate about Obama, he puts so much energy into playing his role that I have no idea whether he's sincere. He might as well just stay behind the curtain like Bush did. Anyway, if we didn't have speechwriters a lot of douchebags would be weeded out, like John Edwards or Mit Romney. I trust guys like Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich more than most politicians, even though I often disagree with them, because I know they care more about their ideals than political power. The most loathsome politicians are the Spectors/Liebermans, who will march to whatever tune wins an election for them and have speechwriters help them dance around their hypocrisies.
