I was hoping that the new appointment would pave the way to the Vatican allowing priests to marry. Oh well, might as well go MORE conservative, eh? :rolleyes:
JP was a "young" and "liberal" pontiff; this guy is old and conservative. thankfully he'll be dead before the end of the decade.

The Catholic Church has a priest shortage, and a bit of a problem with sexual abuse scandals. Allowing priests to marry will most likely alleviate these problems.
I'm a layman when it comes to church politics, but i'm not sure how this new german dude will swing on the issue.
