Oh no. An article blaming the passing of California's Prop 8 on blacks.

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/fullcomment/archive/2008/11/09/...

And I quote,

But the horrible truth is that the traditionalist churches needed help to pass Proposition 8—and that help came from black voters brought to the polls by Barack Obama. The measure lost outright among white and Asian voters; it won by more than two to one amongst blacks, who mostly belong to deeply conservative evangelical churches and who turned out on Nov. 4 in unprecedented numbers.

I thought we would just blame it on religion, it's always an easy target.

Yeah, I guess they're blaming it on both.

it will end up getting blamed on the church folk entirely. The news don't like blaming things on the blacks.

You know, the more this goes on, I am very very worried...

I am so disgusted by the vote and excited by the protests, but at the same time, I am so worried about just a hellishly brutal backlash with all of this, especially in parts of the country where gay folks are really on the margins...like Kansas...

I dunno, I live in a super-conservative area now, in a city of less than a million people (about 700,000) and we had a good turnout at our protest today, between 200 and 250. We protested, no shit, right under a confederate flag and a monument dedicated to the brave fallen soldiers of the Confederate States of America. You'd have to guess, statistically, that the LGBT community would be marginalized in such a place, but today it didn't feel that way at all. I was really proud to be a part of it.

As a Californian who voted No on 8 , the rest of the story isnt being told on national media except for of all places, Faux News. And here it is....
Even though the Church of Latter Day Saints funded massive amounts of money into the Yes on 8 vote, it was actually the African American vote that swayed the propostion to 'Yes'. The problem is, most of the media outlets arent jumping on the story.
Seven out of ever ten African Americans in California voted 'Yes' on Prop 8, and with higher than normal turnout of African American voters because of Obama running, this swayed the vote to 'Yes'. (they have the numbers to back it)
Basically, the prop backfired on the Dems and gay rights supporters who were counting on a larger tunrout,a larger African American turnout, and a broad sweeping of voters against anything 'Bush' to sway the vote 'No'.
The media, though, doesnt want to touch this story with a ten foot pole. People like Rush, Savage, H & C and O'Reilly are the only one talking about it but they have a core audience and shows that don't attract middle America.

This issue isnt done yet, Im betting its going to make it all the way to the SCOTUS.

Actually, last I heard they were blaming it on the Mormons (and on old people).

If it does, then I guess the question is, which way is Anthony Kennedy going to swing?
