Official '08 Election Prediction Thread
A bunch of musicians will gather together and do a "Rock for Barack!" concert.

The debates will prove useless as usual, prompting all future presidential debates to be held inside of the octagon, five minutes, no rules, one winner.
There will be a terrorist attack with the US borders before the election.
John McCain will be the next president of the United States.

I predict the Cincinnati Reds in six!
I think Obama just might have this in the bag.
I hope so.

The elections usually seem to be decided on very shallow, superficial criteria, like John Kerry is a pompous prick and his head is too big, and Al Gore moves like Pinocchio. Last election, I was hearing shit like, "Well, we're in the middle of a war, I just feel more secure with W in charge!" Well, what about domestic issues, dipshit? I lost my respect for some people over that.
Setting aside any rational criteria and looking at the superficial... Hillary Clinton has been too much of a bitch and pissed too many people off. Also, she probably has more skeletons in the closet that the Republicans will dig up and side-track her presidency. Barack Obama is a black man with a Muslim-sounding name and he looks like a white black guy, could be the best person for the job, but not fucking likely.
This is a really good idea.

He won't carry enough states to win the nomination.
Remember, each party only gets ONE person to run for President. Who ever wins the most primaries get to run for president. The democratic party machine will back Hillary. (is it one L or two?)
The people that hate Hilary are mostly Republicans, and they have no effect on who wins the Democratic nomination. (except those states that have open primaries where Rep. could cast their vote for a Dem other than Hilary in an attempt to take votes away from her, which in unlikely)
So in order for Obama or Edwards or anyone else to win they have to take Democrat votes away from Hillary. She going to have enough money to run ads in every state and in most districts within those states. That is going to be very hard to compete against. Plus she was in the White House for 8 years. She has serious connections and has a track record of putting money into people's pockets.
The Dems will nominate her and she'll lose to McCain. He's a military man and we are at war.
I would like to see Wesley Clarke run again. He's got a good lookin' haircut.

Exactly, Hillary will win the dem primary, but lose the presidential election, so we will be stuck with a Republican president for another 4 years regardless of who it is. There's a lot of yada yada about anti-Republican backlash and blah blah about how Iraq is unpopular and whatnot, and that could figure in where the republican candidate stands, but I think the facts that Hillary voted for the war, and that a lot of Republicans hate her are going to override any other considerations.
Also, need I point out that Obama rhymes with Osama, as pointed out by alleged "typo" in newspaper headline? Not that that ought to matter, but it's a bit hard to believe the great unwashed masses are going to vote for a candidate whose name rhymes with Osama.
This is a really good idea.

white - check
male - check
republican - check
not too old - check
not too young - check
head just the right size - check
not "too wooden" - check
"war hero" - check
critical of Bush - check
some dems also like him - check
Regardless of any actual qualifications or stand on the issues, I think he has a better chance than Hillary at least.
This is a really good idea.
I predict that the hype for Obama will be quelled when the Democratic party backs Edwards for a safe win. I fully support Obama for the presidency, but Democrats aren't likely to back him, for fear of another 4-8 years of Republicans. Clinton is pretty much a joke; don't even worry about her. I won't mind if Edwards wins, because he's a smart guy, with progressive policies.
This all being said, my dream president is Al Gore. I doubt we'll hear anything from him until the end of this year, however.
McCain is an advocate for a boxers union. Like the baseball players have. That's why I like him.
He has mucho knowledge from being a Senator for so long. (We need to stop electing Governors)
He's also the whitest Senator from the brownest state.

Oh, okay, I'll take your word for it.

i went to school with McCains son. from what i hear from my friends that new his son, the father is an upstanding man of great moral fiber. i am actualy excited to vote for him, and hope he doent bail again. his sons a dick though. dont vote for James McCain if he ever runs for anything.
So I take it this guy Mc Cain and Hillary are the two front runners. Ive never heard of this McCain guy.
I really hope that Hilary doesn't get the democratic nom. I think Obama could, I really hope. McCain would be my second pick.

A leading republican candidate will use a song by Rage Against the Machine as their campaign song, but the irony of it all will be over their head. They will be sued by Zach de la Rocha, who needs the money, and it will be dealt with out of court, after the Republican is elected president.
Or, and no one will care.
