Obama's Accomplishments In 2009...
That is such bullshit that it doesn't deserve an answer. P.S. If that's how you're looking at it, THEN I PAY MY OWN GODDAMN SALARY. AND A LOT MORE OF IT THAN YOURE STUPID LITTLE SHIT ASS PIZZA JOB WILL PAY YOU IN AN ENTIRE FUCKING PAY CHECK.
I do more in one day than you have done in a whole entire year. Unless you count sitting in your room smoking cigarettes you can't afford a meaningful contribution to the human race.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."

Forget about six, and her cigarettes, and her general situation. Please address my concern, if you don't mind. Am I really paying you to post from work?
I addressed your concerns, via PM. You have never publicly insulted me until now, and therefore I had the decency to confront you in private. I told you you're not paying my salary any more than I am, I also explained that my schedule is such that I do not feel like going home when I have to be back at work in such a short time, so I just hang out and get on the internet that I pay for, with the computer I own. Sometimes I don't get to go home for a week, which is fine, but I take it you expect me to work 24 hours a day?
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."

Back on topic, funny that this advertisement bar came up on here of all places...
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Why of all places?
I dunno. Just thought it was funny.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Your PM was hectoring and rude. I posted what I did on the forum because this is a public forum and that's where I want to have this conversation.
You did indeed, "confront" me via PM and I'm confused why you consider that a courtesy. You think it's a courtesy to send a ranting, cursing, practically all Caps message telling me to move to Canada?
Also, stop being so disingenuous, you know what you wrote about posting from work in your message. Like I said, stop freaking out, it's not like I'm going to report you. I AM going to post that I'm disgusted that I pay your salary so you aren't reduced to having to work as a waitress.
I am a supporter of the military, as my dad served 20 years in the Air Force. But you HAVE to see Ruth, that you work in a job with absolute security (ie you CANNOT be fired unless you do something ridiculously heinous), if you want more training you only need to ask for it, there won't be reductions in hours or paycuts. They give you steady raises, free healthcare, supplements for housing, meals, etc etc etc. These are things that people who choose not to go military rarely if ever receive. In exchange, you put yourself in hinky situations when the gov't demands you to go. Fine.
But your situation is dangerously close to living with one's parents, especially for those living on base (I know you don't, but didn't you mention getting a housing supplemental?). People who work in the military have a HUUUUUUGE amount of discretionary spending money. EVERY guy my dad knew when he served got a new car every year, the best stereo equipment, cheaper groceries at the commissary, etc, because the essentials were all taken care of. This allows you more options when it comes to saving and/or spending. It's a different world for the civilians, and I can only hope you're saving your pennies, because I knew too many people who got out of the service and fell into destitution because they didn't know how to handle their money in the least. Knew a lot of people who came out ahead too, because they were able to own and rent out real estate while the gov't paid for their "other house".

Well this is what I said. Sure there's some rule about posting yours, so... anyway, whatever.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
How was she supposed to take that seriously? I mean, as a serious response to the questions she asked you. Especially because she asked you in a decent to neutral manner.
You wonder why people around here don't like you. That PM is a good example of why people find you intolerable, so it's silly to act like a victim at all times.

I make 23,684 dollars a year. And that's with six years of raises. Including my "huge" housing allowance. My "huge" food allowance. Did anyone mention that I have to pay into my healthcare? Into my dental? Into my school? Did anyone mention that I have to pay into my own pension?
Your dad must've been an officer.

Well, if it wasn't against the rules, I'd ask her to be kind enough to post what she said first. Since she wanted the conversation public.
I'm sick of defending myself. Say whatever you want. I'll make sure I kindly agree with all your insults in the most polite manner possible.

I'm aware of what it is, but unfortunately I don't really get a lot of TV time in, so unless it's on demand...I don't get to watch. =(

This thread mostly just makes me sad.
Though i did laugh at times, it probably wasn't worth it.
That goddamn lying muslim kenyan!
I'm sick of defending myself. Say whatever you want. I'll make sure I kindly agree with all your insults in the most polite manner possible.
I'll kindly summarize in that case. I asked you to not send me rude messages, to keep the conversation on the forum, and that I do feel that I pay your salary. Oh, and to remember that I'm an admin and keep it civil on the forum OR in a PM. Which you did not do.
I'm not banning you, though I would have in a second if you'd sent those messages to any other staff member.

I'm going to try to get this tipping thing through your thick skull one last time... Because you keep saying that it is paying 'extra' money. Consider this:
California is one of seven states that prohibit a tip credit, requiring that waiters earn the same minimum wage as everybody else. In other states, restaurant owners can pay waiters as little as $2.13, the minimum permissible under federal law.
$2.13 an hour. Do the math, that is $4,430 a year if everyone out there was a complete asshole, like you. They take the job knowing they are going to get fucked on the hourly rate. The "extra money" as you put it, isn't extra. It isn't a bonus for them. It's how they earn their livelihood.
So while they are working their ass off for you, you make the assumption that $2.13 an hour is worth it for them, since they obviously aren't as good as you are. Oh, and they are paying your fucking salary on top of it.
Your dad must've been an officer.
He retired as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years (went in as enlisted), and hey, after 6 years you're making more than he did at the end! Woot!
I never used the word "huge", just said that these were expenses you get some degree of coverage on from your employer, things that in the real world you must fully budget for.
1) If one person can quote where I said waitressing is beneath me, please do so.
2) You don't have to pay taxes. There are reprecussions if you don't I guess, but they aren't automatically taken out of your paycheck like they are mine. If you do, and it's not my fault that part of them goes to National Defense. I pay taxes, too. A whopping 589 dollars a month. I'm paying your salary when I eat, so you thank me, I'll thank you, and we'll call it day.
3) Since everyone keeps saying that I'm too good to be a waitress, please also quote where I said this.
4) I'm SICK OF DEFENDING MY JOB. That's not what this thread was about, it was about politics, and you all have turned it into a group roast of what I have chosen to do for work. It's getting old.
5) I've asked you guys repeatedly to stop attacking my profession and me because of it. Not one person has been respectful enough to do so. Thanks anyway.

Because I don't live in the barracks and eat at the chow hall, I don't get my pay cut. I must pay for things out of my own pocket just like everyone else with the money I earn. You've been to my house, was it made of gold? Did it seem extravagant? I feel like I'm defending myself because I make money. My job isn't easy. You should know that from your dad.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
You never said waitressing was beneath you, but you certainly implied it. Several times.
No one's attacked your profession in quite a while. And when did i or mirka or kirk or mike attack the military in this thread? Yeah, there were a small number of people, less than a handful, if i'm not mistaken, who did insult the military and you for being a member of it, but it's silly and childish of you to lump everyone who's posted in here together just because we share a common relation of disagreeing with something that you've said in this thread.
I'm also not sure what you meant when you said that you pay our salary when you eat. Could you explain that to me? And if you mean you're paying a waitress when you eat, you most certainly are not when you choose to not tip. In fact, you're refusing them pay.
well, after listening to the state of the union address,
I hope that the speed rails and the green energy ideas happen. I hope that the troops are indeed out of Iran by August. I hope that the 10,000 tax credit to families with college students happens. I hope that the loan percentage thing goes down for student loans. Loan forgiveness after 20 years and 10 if you do public service? that's awesome. Don't ask, don't tell goes away.
Helping Haiti. Michelle getting rid of childhood obesity. Veteran's services are being improved. These are only some of the good things he will do. Even mentioning them is a good thing.
so there, that's some good stuff.

It's really unfair of you to act as if Mike was attacking you when he's just trying to explain something to you. Apparently that's not your situation, but the patronising tone and anger is really unwarranted.

Repercussions like JAIL TIME.
So yes, you do have to pay them.
Also, I'm sorry... Does anyone else NOT have taxes automatically taken out of your paycheck? Because every job I've had, that's ALWAYS the case.
You can eat at home. We can't cancel National Defense when we can't afford it.
What would you have me do? Quit? Write my congressman? Pay my own salary even more than I already do? Give all my money to you? Publicly apologize to the US for my existence? I don't know what the fuck your problem is, but one thing I'll say is I hope I never have the misfortune of meeting you in person. And before you get all pissed, you've told me you hope I get shot in the face, kill myself, etc etc etc. Get the fuck over yourself.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
I'll admit you didn't outwardly say it was beneath you, but you sure seem to imply it.
I have incidentally never worked at a Sizzler, nor in the food industry period, and that is far from an option I would ever consider.
Edit: Sophomore year of high school, I worked at a coffee shop. But I don't really consider coffee food... I've never been a waitress, and I would never be a waitress. Not because I don't like them, but it's a dead end job and I have no idea why anyone would ever be satisfied with a less than minimum wage job with only the possibility of tips. And I don't believe in tipping, so...
You said waiters depend on the generosity of strangers which you would never do.
Taxes are automatically taken out of every paycheck, dear. Have you ever had a job in "clothing" or any other industry you've suggested as an alternative to waiting tables?

If this thread is strictly about politics, how is that we know you don't tip and rely on your companions to pay for your meal and pay the tip?
I didn't attack your profession. I suggested that you are a slacker and a hypocrite.
Sorry, you don't get to delete this just because you don't like the way it's going.
#43 became the first black President!

134 new posts!?!?! Goddamn, I don't have time to read all that shit.
edit: I used to date a girl who was against tipping. She'd get pissed at me every time I went out b/c not only do I tip, but I tip 20%+ (round up to the nearest dollar). It always bothered me, especially since her anti-tipping stance couldn't be out of cheapness (I paid). The only reason she ever gave me was "fuck them," pretty much the same reason Mr. Pink and Hard Candy give. I know you may have rationalized all these reasons not to tip, but I ask you to think of it this way--when you are presented with a tipping situation view it as a moral test. You have no idea what type of hardships your waitress/valet/bartender/ect. is going through, but you do know that they cannot be extremely well off or they wouldn't have that job. So it's safe to assume that if you tip more than 15% that person will be grateful and you will have contributed to the happiness and survival of a fellow human being. Hard Candy, I don't think that you don't tip because you want to be a bitch, but I also don't think you understand how cruel it is to go to a restaurant and consume a server's time and energy and to leave them with their pittance of an hourly wage to take care of you. If you're the only table that server has, then they make $2-4 for the half-hour to hour they spend giving you service. And serving is mentally and physically exhausting. Not only do they have to run back and forth and carry your food and refill your drinks, but they also have to gauge your personality and befriend you and make you think they deserve a tip. Serving is a stressful job and people depend on tips to pay their rent, put gas in their car, and feed themselves.
I'm really not trying to attack you or demean you, I just hope that I can change your mind because it really is important. Your tip could be the difference between someone making their rent or getting evicted, between someone hating you or being forever grateful.
"[B]eing good is a fearful occupation; men strain at it and sometimes break in two." - Ray Bradbury
Well, I don't think it's that extreme. Leaving a tip doesn't mean that the tipped worker will forever be grateful. It's more of decent, cultural understanding here in the US; you tip in certain situations. If you don't, you're a jerk, and usually not hated, just acknowledged and dismissed as a jerk.
I have a tip for everyone
Do pee into the wind!
Bazinga!
Ill be here all week!

I don't mean that five years later they'll be like, "oh, man, that guy who tipped me $10 saved my ass. God bless him." But if you tip someone good and they run into you in need, expect your good deed to be reciprocated. I used to live with two servers and they tended to judge a person's character based on their tip.
But even on days when they brought in a lot of dough, I never envied their jobs. They dealt with way too much stressful shit for it to be worth it to me. And really, that's why they deserved their tips. They were willing to work harder, to deal with more crap than I was willing to to make a little extra.

You said waiters depend on the generosity of strangers which you would never do.
Yes, If I were a waitress, I would never depend on the generosity of strangers to pay my bills. I would never go to work hoping that someone will be magnanamous enough to leave me extra money. I firmly believe in not counting my chickens before they hatch.
Taxes are automatically taken out of every paycheck, dear. Have you ever had a job in "clothing" or any other industry you've suggested as an alternative to waiting tables?
I've worked in a coffee shop, as a receptionist, as a live-in nanny, as a housekeeper, in retail, and when I graduated school, I joined the military. These jobs were all above minimum wage with the exception of the first, and my whole point was that it's just me earning a living and I can't afford a job that pays less than minimum wage. I can't! Which is why I said I'd never be a waitress. But everyone here, including you is so quick to pounce upon any opportunity to call me a cunt.
Since everyone keeps saying that I'm too good to be a waitress, please also quote where I said this.
The interesting thing is the closest anyone can find to me saying that is if they twist my words. My opening sentance was "IT'S NOT THAT I DON'T LIKE THEM..."

If this thread is strictly about politics, how is that we know you don't tip and rely on your companions to pay for your meal and pay the tip?
Because about five minutes into this thread, someone was kind enough to say this:
Have you actually SEEN the mongoloids who make up most of our armed forces? If not, see the first post in this thread. I'm going to go on a limb and guess that their options are somewhat limited. It's either stay in the army or hope you have a connection at your local Sizzler.
To which I replied:
In all honesty, I make far less money in the military than I ever did prior, and I have incidentally never worked at a Sizzler, nor in the food industry period, and that is far from an option I would ever consider. And say what you will of me, but I have met some of the most amazing and brilliant people since I've been in the military. They have joined because they want to give their due dilligence, be patriotic, do their part, become disciplined, have a job, what have you...but not one person has ever told me they joined because they like or respect the President.
Then, after this thread became a blatant attack on not only me, but my profession, my never having been a waitress...I repeatedly asked that we get back on topic and leave my job out of it. If I didn't have to constantly defend myself, or if people were mature enough to leave their dislike for me aside and look at a thread and it's content objectively, you would'nt know that.
Read the thread before you try to make me look like an ass. You took personal offense to what I said which is why you are dragging this out. I will not be humiliated by a woman who has nothing better to do with her time than poorly moderate a website.
Now here, you could become angry and say "but you have no idea what it is I do outside of this!" to which I would say "Thank you, you've just proved my entire point. Stop acting like you know me, and it is only if you knew me that you would have the right to comment on my character."
I've asked you guys repeatedly to stop attacking my profession and me because of it. Not one person has been respectful enough to do so. Thanks anyway.
I didn't attack your profession. I suggested that you are a slacker and a hypocrite.
You have no idea what it is I do, nor what my schedule is. And after answering all your accusations via PM with logical answers, you are frustrated that your whole little "I'm paying your salary and you're not doing your job" rant fell through. My rank, and the jobs I've held and currently hold, speak very highly of my accomplishments in the marines. Trust me, they separate slackers, they don't promote them.

This is true. The loan thing is a great idea, as well as the tax credits, but I'm wondering where the money is going to come from.
Of course helping Haiti. We have a bunch of people down there now trying to help, but there's so much more that needs to be done.
Childhood obesity has so much to do with parenting, I feel. And while there are so many parents who would rather stuff their kid's faces with McDonalds and Mac n' Cheese, its not gonna happen. The sad part is, a box of macaroni costs .35, whereas a balanced meal costs like $15. When I was poor, I was like, .10 packet of ramen? or $3 lb of broccoli?
I don't agree with don't ask dont tell going away. I had this conversation with one of my friends the other day. In an environment where you shower and sleep openly together, many young men, especially those from areas where the homosexual community is highly frowned upon, are going to act rashly and dangerously. As it is, people that are "outed" now are separated because otherwise, there's a possibility they would be harmed if anyone found out. My argument was that anyone should have the right to be patriotic and serve their country, but after a lot of thought, I've come to the conclusion that it would be disastrous. I wish everyone could see the South Park where Big Gay Al gets kicked out of the scouts. I think his speech at the end applies well here.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
I haven't seen anyone call you a cunt and having read most of this thread you are quick to defend yourself when clearly no one is attacking you. But because they have a different point of view from yours they are automatically calling you a cunt?
To me it seems like you are a bit quick to pull the trigger before identifying what or who is walking through the door.
It could be your grandma! You just shot your grandma! What the hell?
What I'm trying to say is don't be so quick to defend yourself before you reread, rethink, and reevaluate what you've said and what another party is trying to say.
The only reason someone is gonna attack you is because you are so defensive and giving them reason to 'call you a cunt'.
You heartless wench!
I don't think you are the only one. I think if I really cared enough I would have donated money already.
I called Ruth a cunt for not tipping, but i think i'm the only one.
Fair enough but she's still making it sound like everyone who has posted an opposing view are calling her a cunt as soon as she opens the door.

You constantly play this victim card, and I really don't know where to begin answering you. You say I "pounce" on every opportunity to call you a cunt? What's with this hyperbole? My "accusations"? Plural, really?
Seriously, I have no idea how to get through to you that your private messages were hardly logical.
You're asking me to trust you that your rank proves that you're not a slacker? Why should I trust you? You've lied repeatedly about things of no consequence.
You say I took personal offense, that I'm frustrated that my argument fell through. You should really stop assigning motivations to me.
Let me clarify:
I think your attitude towards servers and tipping is small and mean spirited. If that's cuntish in your mind, so be it.
I think you're a liar and a slacker. I don't believe that you are paying for your own internet at work, but that I am paying for it indirectly through taxes.
Whatever you do, please do not send me another private message. I have no desire to have any communication with you beyond what I post without any reservation, publicly. Thanks.
Thanks for clarifying because I was a little embarrassed for not being eternally grateful to those that tipped me back when I worked as a server and bartender!
I did tend to speculate about a person's character depending on how they tipped, but in a harmless, passing way. At the end of the day, I just kicked off my shoes, and counted my money.
I'm drinking a Pepsi Max! It's like normal Pepsi, but with no calories! And this political thread is like a normal political thread, but with no content!
thanks for sharing.blackhawk tactical pants.

I am curious as to your reason for this? I know people who are all like 'Fuck Haiti' but you don't strike me as that kind of person.
Im just curious.

Once again, you might want to put your eyes where your mouth is and see me in my work environment before you start assulting my character.
And victim card? Can you honestly say that everyone voiced their opinions against me properly? The people that agreed with me politically were't attacked. Weren't hounded. Nope. Nobody else was called names, or insulted for their profession. And I said everybody was quick to call me out, not just you.
And simply because you don't curse, calling someone small and meanspirited is said with the same level of spite that cunt carries. And how hypocritical to judge someone for not respecting someone elses opinion. I have not once said I am bothered by other people tipping, just that I don't. Does anyone respect my opinion? No. But no one else is wrong for that.
And since you pay for my internet, Mirka, would you mind purchasing me some internet right now? You just have to log on like the screen shot I provided below:
Since I don't pay for my own, I'm assuming your information is supposed to go in there, and as I don't know it, I need your help.

"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Yeah good point. I personly helped, but I can't get mad at people who dont because that is a valid arguement. When for the amount of taxes we pay we can't even help our own citizens, that is the biggest crime of all.

Just because it's an opinion, Ruth, doesn't mean it's not rude.
