I opened this thread expecting to agree with you b/c I feel that Obama hasn't accomplished much, especially when considering his campaign promises. But instead I find a silly list likely authored by Anne Coulter.

32. Took his family on several vacations, spending more than most Americans can afford in a life time

George W. Bush spent more time on vacation than ANY PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/02/AR200508...

http://jonox.livejournal.com/25625.html

8. Invited Russia to tour our "secret" nuclear facilities

You know that Russia already possesses enough nuclear weapons to destroy the entire world, right? The only thing they have to gain by touring our nuclear facilities is to make their own plants more safe (coughChernobylcough).

2. Bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia

Better than being in business with him like the Bush family. The president is the nation's top diplomat and bowing to foreign monarchs is part of being a diplomat.

4. Kissed Socialist Hugo Chavez on the cheek

I'll sum up all the socialist crap with this one. OBAMA IS A SOCIALIST. Socialist doesn't mean satanist or fascist, it's the form of distributive justice in first world countries, INCLUDING THE U.S. Laissez-faire is a dream for presidents who dress up as cowboys and refer to their opponents as "evil-doers." BTW, Hugo Chavez isn't the devil. Neither is Castro.

12. Announced the termination of our new missile defense system the day after North Korea launched an ICBM... a slap in the face to our allies in Europe

Our allies in Europe? The only allies in Europe who supported that damn thing were the Polish who would have economically benefitted from it (which wasn't even reliable). It was a stupid idea when Reagan brought it up in the 80's and it's just as stupid today.

14. Accepted without comment that five of his cabinet members cheated on their taxes, several other nominees withdrew after they were investigated, and other appointees resigned after
public pressure exposed their un-American leanings

Like any of those guys did their own taxes. WTF is un-American leanings? Lemme guess, socialism? Pfft.

1 15. Appointed a Homeland Security Chief who identified military veterans and abortion opponents as
"dangers to the nation"

You mean those fuckers who kill abortion doctors and blow up clinics? I'd love to see the quote you're referring to and seeing how far out of context you took it.

18. Told the Mexican president that the violence in their country was because of America

Supply and demand. They have the supply we provide the demand.

I could keep going, but this is silly. I don't think Obama is perfect but at least he's trying to provide healthcare to millions of uninsured Americans and has successfully repaired our international reputation. The Republicans are so ridiculous with their Obama hate. You guys should be fucking thankful that Obama got elected instead of Hilary. Hilary wouldn't put up with this "reach across the aisle" bullshit, she would have raised taxes, forced healthcare through, and we'd be working on education by now. And I'd be much happier. Keep trying to paint Obama as an extreme leftist, you have no idea what you're in for when the next LBJ gets elected.

Obama kept that sad grandpa, McCain, out of office. Seriously, that guy would've croaked and then we'd be COMPLETELY FUCKED with Palin: the woman who barely knows anything about how laws are passed, or any process for that matter. She struggled to name a founding father in her last interview. Oh, and she loves to start rumors in D.C. about death panels like she's still in high school. And I'm sorry, but my taxes won't be going towards her outfits.

And yes, at least we're done with Bush until Jeb decides to slide in there.

I'm not the biggest Obama fan but McCain and Palin scare the shit out of me, and Bush left a big fucking mess to clean up.

The very fact that many of these are considered a 'bad thing' is disgusting.

1. Offended the Queen of England

From what? The gift incident? Fuck the queen of England. She's the Queen of nothing, it's time for England to finally say goodbye to an archaic figurehead anyhow.

It annoys me when people say stuff like this. The Queen does a lot more than you think. She's Head of the Commonwealth and State, and governor of the Church of England for fucksake. Although some of these just sound like 'archaic' titles, she's pretty busy with this on a daily basis.

And I don't think she does a bad job of these things either. She's definitely not a walk over, especially at 83 years old. It's common knowledge that she has given certain prime ministers a hard time concerning cabinet business. She also can give the 'Royal Prerogative of Mercy' to convicted criminals in light of new evidence concerning a court case. She also meets with the prime minister weekly, and chairs the Privy Council.

I wouldn't want to see Gordon Brown taking over any of her roles anyway. Plus, she boosts a lot of tourism, so you Americans can come over and buy a lot of our shit.

She publicly snubbed Silvio Berlusconi, which is quite funny.

All in all, I don't think she was very offended by the Obama incident. Nor was anyone else in the UK particularly, except the Daily Mail - which is a shit source for news and written and read by wankers anyway. Maybe the other papers made a joke of it, but things like that wouldn't really bother them. Everyone loves Obama over here.

"YOU AMERICANS, YOU AMERICANS, YOU AMERICANS"

If anyone ever referred to me as "You Americans" to my face and wasn't kissing my ass, I'd force them to apologize on the spot. It's a hundred times more obnoxious than saying your Queen does hardly anything.

God, you Americans are cranky.

Boo fucking hoo.

In other news, I agree with Kirk. Who fucking cares if he offended the Queen of England? This is not England. Most of the rest of that list is whiny, distorted bullshit pseudo-facts. At least Limbaugh and the like are entertaining with their ranting and delusions.

Carry on.

Or...you know... being elected the First Black President less than half a century after the abolition of segregation.

That doesn't mean he deserves it, if anyone deserves that award for him becoming President (not exactly criteria for the NPP) it would be the country as whole for electing him although he didn't deserve that either. He has done nothing and is, IMO thus far, a waste of history and a presidential term.

25. Nationalized General Motors and Chrysler while turning shareholder control over to the unions and freezing out retired investors who owned their bonds and committed unlimited taxpayer billions in the process

27. Encouraged nationalized health care "reform" that will hurt seniors on Medicare, cut pay of physicians, increase taxes yet another $1 trillion, fine Americans for being uninsured, and put everyone on rationed care with government

These are lierally the only five things that matter out of that whole list you posted.
I'm not a fan of Obama, I didnt vote for him (I didnt vote for McCain either) but most of the stuff on the list is garbage. So many past presidents have done all that stuff and more, yet the morons in the GOP continue to cling to rumors and minor slips. If your going to bash a guy, at least do it with things that matter.

Ross, I would agree most of the crap on the list wouldn't matter in real life...but considering that all that crap that shouldn't matter is funded using taxes, which is money stolen from the productive by the parasitic political class, a level of victim hood can be correlated alongside the cost of each otherwise dubious program. Thus, it all matters, and is all awful. Especially in this economic climate.

34. Obama's justice department let two New Black Panther Party activists
that threatened voters with a gun and club at a polling station in
Philadelphia go without anything more than a verbal warning

35. Promised no increase in taxes for anyone making less than $250,000
per year. Already broken, and about to get much, much worse.

I was told by my friend who is in the Naval academy that if they get heard talking bad about obama, they can get in trouble. Largely, most students at the Naval Academy are predominately conservative, and would have rather had mccain, so refraining from talking bad about obama is a struggle. what you have me quoted as saying was my, let's say, over exaggeration of thought process. I'm sorry if I offended you and I am willing to accept that I was wrong. I imagine that they cadets or whatever shouldn't be talking bad about the president because they're in school, and Obama is the Commander in Chief, the head of all the military forces. So, i don't know. It made sense to me. Don't push me into a wall.

Plus I can't imagine willingly being in the military if you have such a problem with The Commander in Chief.

Obviously I didn't write this on my own. This is a compilation of news articles, blurbs, emails, polls, and a bunch of other shit I either found or was sent to me. But I took the time to research them, pick which things I took offense to and issue with as a taxpayer, as an American, as a person, really. I disagree with the things Obama has done in the past year. I disagree with things Bush did, Clinton too. But their administrations are done and over with. So I am addressing the present. But in the same way that you wouldnt compare a current scandal against Watergate, or a current war against WWII, or a current serial killer against Ed Gein to make the present any less scandalous, or bloody, or guilty, you cannot compare Obama's shortcomings to that of a previous president to make them any less grave.

And call me a cunt, a mongloid, an idiot, ignorant, whatever you may or already have, but it is not my profession that makes me any of these things, nor should my profession cause you to think these things of me.

In all honesty, I make far less money in the military than I ever did prior, and I have incidentally never worked at a Sizzler, nor in the food industry period, and that is far from an option I would ever consider. And say what you will of me, but I have met some of the most amazing and brilliant people since I've been in the military. They have joined because they want to give their due dilligence, be patriotic, do their part, become disciplined, have a job, what have you...but not one person has ever told me they joined because they like or respect the President.

I may be the least liked person here, but whether or not any of you respect my opinions or the things I say, the people I have had the priveledge of serving with have gone through hell, willingly and selflessly for those that they have come to accept as family. And regardless of whether or not you respect the military or its purpose or it's current agenda, do me the favor of respecting those in it.

I've worked in the food industry a lot and i find it insulting that you deem it beneath you and that you don't believe in tipping, which is the utmost in cuntishness. You do realise that's how they make their living. If you don't tip, it means they only get paid their shit wage for the time they spent serving you.

I would never have children without the proper means to care for them, nor would I expect people to randomly give me additional funds just to care for them if somehow the impossible occurred and I did.

And once again, I do not tip. I do not get tipped for doing my job, and I do not have pockets full of extra money to simply give away.

Well, I do not take orders from Barrack Obama, and I have never blown anything up. I joined for my own reasons, I am grateful for the experiences and lessons I have learned. I have not attacked anyone's profession, nor do I deserve to have mine disrespected.

I do not think waitressing is beneath me, but I refuse to count on the generousity of others to provide for my well being. To put food on my table or on my children's table. I want a salary. I want a guarantee that I will have a check with which to pay my rent.

I don't get you sometimes, Ruth.

I mean, we could keep arguing, but you've little to no respect for people who differ from you and it's sad and disappointing.

I have gone many places. For the war. When this president and his predecessor were in office. I still didn't blow up anything. Neither did my unit. We actually did the opposite.

Waitresses make their money on tips. They get paid like 5 bucks an hour. You're mean. And live in a tunnel.

TUNNEL OF RUTH.

In this thread I have asked numerous times for people to post what it is they believe Obama has done to improve the nation.

I have been called names...called out...simply for stating some of my own personal greivances with the current president and have not lashed out at any of their authors.

I stated that I do not want to be a waitress, not because I don't like them, but because I know what it's like to be without money and not know how much my next paycheck will bring, and so therefore, I have chosen, and will continue to choose jobs that pay me enough to not worry constantly about financial hardship.

I have not attacked anyone for disagreeing with me here, nor have I purposely insulted anyone.

But here, you are expressing disgust and disappointment for my alleged "inability to respect people who differ from me". Eddy, I have never had issue with you, nor do I disrespect you in anyway, but please explain to me what sort of sense your statement makes. It is, in and of itself, an oxymoron.

But you give away $600 just to get out of a line at a club? Jesus.

Maybe you don't know what oxymoron means?

I really don't feel like discussing it with you.

Anyway, on topic with the thread, it's perfectly fine to be critical of the president and the government. I'd even encourage because it's for the best. However, it's only helpful if you criticise intelligently. So criticise away, but don't expect people to tell you that you're wrong when you're wrong.

I felt it was a contradictory statement, but of course, it was, coming from me, completely unitelligent, as is, apparently, everything else I say. I'm done, really. It's very clear that no matter what I do, I will always be singled out here, so and I have clearly worn out my welcome. Perhaps, it's time for a break.
