If everyone expects him to be fired, and the store will lose all their business if they didn't fire him, then yes, I guess that's what they had to do. I just feel it's unfortunate, the whole thing, and it's just sad that he was fired after 25 years, even if he is a racist that did a horrible and stupid thing.
I've got mixed emotions how I feel towards racists. Should I hate them? Part of me does. But part of me feels they're not a racist because they choose to be that way, they became that way naturally...that it was out of their hands. But maybe this is naive of me. I sure wish there wasn't racism, and it's a terrible thing that there is. I'd like for it to be eliminated, and will support whatever it takes to eliminate it. So how do you eliminate racism? Is the solution making sure all the racists don't speak their minds in open? Perhaps, but how do you stop them from expressing themselves behind closed doors, and stop them from indoctrinating their children with racist ideas? Cuz that's what it's about, right, the children, the next generation? Let this old racist one die a hard death in a lonely bed.

I think we have progressed to the point where the best defense against racism, is to actually give them a voice, the louder the better, and let them hang themselves...the world has passed them by, their simple minds a product of a more backward era, and the sooner the reality of that slaps them in the face, the better. All these goddamn yokels hold an asinine delusion that somehow things will change, that if they stand up, make their voice heard, this country will realize the error it has made and revert back to a more 'wholesome' past. the problem with allowing them to say what they want without interfering with them is that it builds up enough after a while that a few of them will then start to get uppity and take it a step further into physical violence to get their point across.
also, having the shitty life with the shitty car and the shitty over-flowing septic tank is where they get most of that hate. They know how much their life sucks and need someone to blame it on and figure that if they get rid of whomever, their life will start being a little bit better.
