Missing British girl's parents say hunt must go on!
Maybe they should hire OJ Simpson to assist on the hunt.

LONDON (Reuters) - The parents of missing British girl Madeleine McCann are to launch an advertising campaign across Europe to try to shift attention back to the search for their daughter, a family member said on Saturday.
Gerry and Kate McCann, who are formal suspects in the police investigation into her disappearance, believe she is still alive and have asked police to keep looking for the four-year-old.
They will pay for the campaign using a million pound fund donated by well-wishers since their daughter was reported missing while on holiday in Portugal on May 3.
"The fund will finance a broad range of initiatives in advertising to remind everyone that Madeleine is still missing," Gerry McCann's brother John said in a statement. "I hope that the general public will continue to support us in this."
The McCanns, both 39-year-old doctors, returned to England last Sunday after Portuguese detectives questioned them both as suspects for hours.
No charges have been brought and on Tuesday, Portugal's public prosecutor passed the case against the McCanns to a criminal judge who will decide whether there are grounds for a trial.
They have faced intense media scrutiny over their involvement in the case. Gerry McCann described the latest newspaper reports about them as "ludicrous."
"There are large craters in every one of these theories, in these just ludicrous accusations," he told a friend in comments reported in the Sun newspaper.
"As far as Kate and I are concerned, there is no evidence to suggest that Madeleine is dead. We are 100 percent together on this, not one grain of suspicion about each other."
A family spokeswoman said the couple have received between 500 and 1,000 letters and messages since they arrived home in Rothley, Leicestershire.
They have no immediate plans to return to Portugal, she added.
Ive been following this story for a longtime. It seems that now the media have turned on the girls family and are trying to blame them for the death. Until a body is found we wont know.

So she disappeared in Portugal, but they have no plans to return to Portugal?
Um.
There is hope, but not for us.

Ed Zachary! Thats why I think they should hire OJ to assist. That way they can go look at all the country clubs, night clubs and sport memorobilia shows that he goes to in search of his ex wife's killer as well as maybe finding the missing girl!
her blood was found in their rental car.
The crucial thing about this is that they rented the car 25 days after she went missing.
I saw an advert at the cinema the other week voiced by Judi Dench or one of those people asking me if I'd seen this kid.
I think her parents sold her.
This is just like that story I've heard where the parents with the baby hire a college student to babysit and they call her in the middle of the evening and she says she's made them martinis, and they get worried because they don't have any liquor in the house, and they come home to find the drunken college girl has shaken the baby to death thinking the baby was a martini shaker!
For me this stoy really is intriguing. Ive read about it for months and in the space of a few articles I go from convinced the parents did it to believing them totally. They even had an audience with the Pope. If it turns out they did kill her they will become the most hated couple this century.
I hope she's ok..

I would love if she was found alive but with the whole world looking for her I cant imagine her being safe and sound. The culprits need to be found soon.
I really cant imagine it being her parents but it is getting nasty the way public opinion is swinging away from them.
I don't know, my opinion was always swung away from them considering they left their children alone and went off to dinner.

Me too. I think thats what made the story so gripping at first. I know half the people were angry at their actions and the other half were simpathetic especially since both parents were professionals.
Over 350,000 children go missing every year. What's so special about this little girl? Wait...
White...
Cute...
Wealthy...
White...
Well, she's dancing in Heaven with Jean Bonet Ramsey now...
Devouring mountains and shitting boulders since 1978.
Jean Bonet?

This whole story is fucking ridiculous. I've been following this story since they first reported it and it gets sicker every time they mention it. The whole find-Maddie campaign is so manipulative and soaked in bathos that it almost makes you glad that they haven't found her. She's a little girl, cute, photogenic, and she's been kidnapped. This happens all the time, and it's tragic in each case. The British tabloids have turned this particular incident into a mean-spirited, hypocritical freakshow in which every player is scrutinized by the tabloids and, consequently, by millions of dumb readers.
The parents seem to be loathsome in more ways than I'd care to count, and their little campaign has led to fraud charities, the ridicule of the Portuguese police (ah, those ineffectual foreigners!) and thousands of complaints from moviegoing audiences who couldn't watch Shrek without seeing a sentimental advert begging them to "help us find this beautiful little girl." It's the "beautiful" part that saddens me. They've trivialized everything, and now it really has become a phony race to see who catches the bad guyz first!!!!1.
Nobody gives a shit about Maddie anymore. She's been turned into a media icon, a little martyr, a "beautiful" little girl on a screen whom you can help to be found by donating money to one of dozens of charities online, IF YOU HAVE A HEART.
It's great for the tabloids. Maddie symbolizes all the shit so many people hold dear: innocence, beauty, youth, possibility, and love. At first the tabloids are excessively sympathetic towards the parents. Then, when that gets boring, the parents are suddenly guilty of child neglect. Then they become suspects, and the tabloids sensationalize the investigation to such an extreme that it's become difficult to accept that life goes on and kids are being beaten, molested or kidnapped with or without Maddie's story. The danger is always hinted at, of course, since that's what sells papers... it could happen to YOU. But in never more than a perfunctory manner, because what really matters here is that beautiful little Maddie has become a star, and suddenly "everybody" cares.
I hope they find Maddie alive and relatively stable. My guess is they won't, and there's something really fishy about the parents' unchanging tune. Regardless, the British media have essentially replaced the pedophilia scare from a couple years ago with the spooky-foreign-place-kidnapping shtick, and they'll continue to do so.
Instead of turning the parents into attention whores and appealing to the very lowest common denominator (which, it appears, can only be won over by having its heartstrings tugged), how about the media actually say something legitimate about what's going on?

Phil Quick Question:
Are the Portugeuse police as ineffectual as whats being reported in the media?
Today I bought two papers and each had 4 pages of coverage, thats 135 days after she has gone missing.
They're not the best cops in the world, but they're an awfully easy target for right-wing publications like The Sun and the equally xenophobic Daily Mirror and whatever is in between. You need to remember that they deal with this shit every day, and they don't care about some little blonde English kid whose country thinks she's worth everybody in the world's time. The Maddie tragedy isn't a lighthearted affair, but nobody's helping the investigation out by annoying the Portuguese cops.

Thanks for the reply Phil.
Unfortunately the papers you mentioned are also the staple of Irish publications so it is hard to get a balanced view of things.
I cant see this whole scenario dying down for a long long time.

I hope she's not! Look at her, all cute and cuddly and damn well knowing it. If she's alive, she knows people are looking for her. That they'll find her and love her even harder than before... And then she's gonna turn into a teenager and become a slut and sleep around and start with drugs heavily and break every guy's heart. Fuck this. The world is better off.
