Mike Huckabee is a terrible man.
apparently Mike Huckabee believes in the teachings of David Barton so strongly, he thinks all americans should be forced at gunpoint to listen to everything the man has to say. i wonder if that would be less offensive if he were promoting someone who teaches accurate american history... probably.
Jon Stewart interviewed Mike Huckabee about how he felt regarding David Barton.
The clips (3 parts) are on the Daily Show site on Comedy Central. I can't load the videos from here as it is not supported unfortunately but they are worth watching.
He said that protecting the sanctity of marriage is worth losing your job over.

But he's still better than Palin.

He also said Bradley Manning should be executed. He can go fuckabee himself.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
Who's Dan Barton?
i'm still quietly hoping conservative america is punking me. i mean, how can a woman so vastly and obviously unintelligent have been chosen as a vice presidential candidate, or have real followers? its got to be a joke, right? right????(please?)??

Well, look at Dan Quayle. History repeats itself.
But this is worse. Much worse. And I think America's getting its wakeup call; she's headed downhill in the polls (as far as I know).

on a fuckabee related note, i have a confession to make:
when the movie i heart huckabees came out, i was borderline obsessed with it. then, i read in some interview that, when asked about the film, mike huckabee said he saw it and hated it. after that, i had an instant disdain for the man, even though i knew nothing about him. it turns out, my rash decision to dislike him was very apt, but i did judge that particular book by its cover.
moral of the story: its totally ok to hate someone if you don't know them, as long as their film tastes differ from your own. lesson learned.
i'm gonna digress a bit because it's frustrating.
the entire political system in the US is terrible. it would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.
the recent almost shut down of the government is just abhorrent. a headline read (i think on msnbc or somewhere) something like 'politicians don't agree on where they disagree on', then there's the blatant lie by republican congressman jon kyl about planned parenthood (they do 90% of abortions allegedly, which is closer to less than 5% in reality).
then there are the corporations getting tax breaks to where they don't pay taxes at all because of laws drafted by lobbyists, and tax cuts extended to the top 1% of the population while funding for education, sciences, and arts go away. shit goes on and on.
it's really disheartening. if we have to choose between huckabee (a religious nut job, really let's call a spade a spade) and palin just because there aren't anybody else more qualified, we're all fucked.
I have no idea who Mike Hucksbee is. Is he the lead singer of Simply Red?
About Sarah Palin, I'd hit it.
Apparently he was informed of this, and his office put out a statement saying that his words were not intended to be taken as factual, or some such bullshit.
For the past couple days Stephen Colbert has been tweeting ridiculous statements about John Kyl with the hashtag "#NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement". They are pretty funny:
http://twitter.com/#!/StephenAtHome
Jon Kyl claims the craziest thing he's ever done was that time he ate pancakes for dinner. #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement
Jon Kyl is the only person who can sneeze with his penis. He calls it a "sneenis." #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement
Everything you would only do in the privacy of your own home, Jon Kyl prefers to do on a subway car. #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement

completely agree.
so what shall we do, boycott america? is it plausible to organize a protest in which all the fed-up intelligent people of the u.s. move to canada?
i'm totally down if you are.
I hated that movie.
Steve Colbert's tweets have been hilarious.

This may be hard to believe but no corporation ever pays any taxes. They would go immediately out of business if they paid taxes. Even if they tax the living shit out of them. All that money is just going to be passed right along to their customers in higher prices.
The offense budget (wars military etc) is almost entirely covered by the corporate income tax. I don't think it's the direct revenue stream, but the idea is to keep them kinda on par with one another.

I found this interesting (although unrelated).

I'm not even sure how to feel anymore. There is a part of me that loves this country with every fiber of my being. And yet there is another part of me that is so utterly disgusted by this country that I can't fathom staying.
Who said come to Canada?
We're having our federal election two and one half years after the last one. That's inefficient. All because the Conservatives here suck too. They got booted due to a non-confidence vote. The other parties ganged up on them. Which IS good. And isn't good.
Having 3 major parties isn't better than having two.
Plus 1 major parties if the Quebec-only Bloc Quebecois count.
Plus 1 major parties if the two-seat Green Party count.
In some sense we have five. Except no one really counts the Green Party (though they ought to replace the Liberals and NDP in the federal standings; better platform, policies, etc etc etc).
And the Bloc's major policy is to dissolve Canada through "separation".
There's a bunch of other parties that no one even cares about (obviously hyperbolic). Like the Pirates, the Pro-Life party, and the Marxist-Leninist to name three.
Stay in America. Where crazy is out in the open.
Canada's crazy is still nuanced, but we're working hard to catch up with the US.
Good luck, ronnie.
my name is not Pete
edit: NINJA EDIT! *shakes fist*
Yeah, sorry. I have NO idea why I thought Pete. It was the white child in the avatar, I think. He looks like a Pete. Or something.
Pete has a baby in his avatar too. But his is tattooed.

I second this.
