LOL This old man doesn't even know how to use a computer!!! I bet his pockets are deep with telecom monies.

Senator John McCain proposed a bill on Friday that would effectively bar the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from regulating communications.

McCain’s Internet Freedom Act of 2009 is a misnomer for legislation that would allow wireless and broadband service providers like AT&T and Comcast to unfairly regulate traffic based on their commercial interests, thereby eliminating net neutrality.

Net neutrality is the simple concept that all traffic is created equal and therefore service providers should not be allowed to prioritize access to certain websites over others. Service providers want to do away with net neutrality so they can charge sites that generate large amounts of traffic or slow traffic to websites that compete with their commercial interests.

HAHAHAHA!

I will weep the day net neutrality dies. Well, maybe not weep, but it will be one step closer to the end of the internet.

I agree. It's a major issue and there's only a single political party advocating it, and they are of course our wonderful friends in Sweden.

Truly though, Obama and a Senator are trying to pass a bill as we speak which could be equally disastrous for internet freedoms:

But Barack Obama and Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) want to make this nightmare a reality. That's why Rockefeller recently introduced S. 773, "The Cybersecurity Act of 2009." Initial cosponsors include Senators Evan Bayh (D-IN), Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME).

You see, Barack Obama is seeking sweeping new powers to "shut down" all private internet in the event of a "cybersecurity emergency" — a vague term that the President can define at his discretion. And Rockefeller's bill gives Barack Obama just what he wants.

That's why this expansive new power grab should really be called "The Internet Takeover Bill."

As you know, the Internet has developed into an independent sphere where 1st Amendment Rights can still be (fairly) freely exercised. It's also become an important outlet for liberty-minded speech, cutting around the Obama-worship and corporate censorship of the mainstream media.

And we've already seen the Obama Administration's reaction to any online speech they deem "fishy."

In July, the Administration called upon Americans to report their friends' and neighbors' emails to help Barack Obama silence the "disinformation" about the Obamacare bills in Congress. Well, now Barack Obama wants to cut out the middle man.

Under this bill Barack Obama can order all non-government U.S. networks to shut down access to the Internet. Even outside of periods of White House-declared "emergency," this bill mandates that private-sector networks only be managed by government-licensed "cybersecurity professionals."

If you think dealing with your office IT department is bad now, just wait until they're federally-licensed bureaucrats.

Today, legislation like this — built on the same statist principles as the infamous Patriot Act — has to sneak through Congress quietly. They know Americans are no longer willing to swallow this "for our own good" swill.

There's a form you can sign HERE to send a letter of disapproval to your Senators automatically.

Campaign For Liberty. They definately have an agenda, but it's a good one. They're all for auditing the Fed publicly, monetary transparency, and a return to actual Constitutional freedoms.

If you take the time to read the bill it's actually creepy.

What drives me nuts is how they have one of these bills come up at least once a year. What the hell is so different now from the last 10 years they tried this, that they think it deserves to pass?
Sometimes I daydream about all these senators and whatnots taking all this money from lobbyists to run these shitty bills up the hill and then when it comes time to vote they purposefully vote No and tell the lobbies that their constituents all wrote in telling them to vote No. Thereby raking in some green and protecting the masses. It would restore my faith in the system so much if they did.

I'm pretty sure you can only get away with that once.

Anything coming from the gov't has the opposite meaning of what it says. Ministry of Love = Place where you are not loved, War on Poverty = War on impoverished people, Net Neutrality = Something not neutral involving the internet.

That explains why the department of health and sanitation spends so much time talking about DISEASE.
