I am interested to see if anyone else wasted 2 hours of their life this weekend like I did watching this thing. Once again Al Sharpton and Dennis Kucinich made the other Democrats look like idiots.

When Al Sharpton called out Dean about his racial cabinet hirings he look like a deer in headlights. And then he used his Trent Lott -Martin Luther King Jr. line which didn't work like it did months ago.
I'm inclined to support Dean but tonight he faltered big time. He didn't answer questions straight and sometimes he was followed by Kucinich or Sharpton who blew him out of the water.

I think there might be a surprise in the Iowa that Kucinich and/or Sharpton jump ahead of Edwards / Lieberman.

I think that if the other candidates would stop attacking dean and worry about their campaigns, that dean would not be the frontrunner... one debate where Dean fucks up trying to defend himself doesn't make up for all of the other times he made all the other better candidates look like assmonkies, because all they do is attack him... I honestly think that the democratic party is losing alot of voters because they don't like dean, and no other candidate has focused on himself and set himself appart from any oither candidate... they are losing voters and they need to focus on their campaigns, I realize that it's too late now, and Dean will most likely get the democrat nod, and I will vote for him in the general election because I know he is better than Bush, but I hate having to comprimise because the other candidates were douche bags...

Dean would be the "front-runner" no matter what. The media already picked him to be the Democratic nominee and the only other candidates that they pay attention to (Kerry, Lieberman, Gephardt) aren't different enough to get anywhere.

During a presidential election year both parties (democrat, republician) Have primaries in individual states to see who will get the parties nomaination for president. In the case of incumbancy (bush) the party in charge usually just nominates the incumbent. But sometimes they are challenged and have to go through the primaries.

In the nationwide election of the president we use a electoral system. Each states electoral votes are based on how many congressman they have. More population more congressman. The states vote and who ever gets a majority of the votes wins all the electoral votes for the state. So that is how occasionally a president will be elected without a majority of the overall population. (Gore vs Bush)

Yes, but he isn't a junior. His daddy is named George Herbert-Walker Bush, while he is named George Walker Bush. So they don't have the same name. Hence, no Jr.
For simplicity's sake I call him George Bush's Son because it also sums up his entire life's accomplishments to date.

I lliked Dean at first . . . but there's something in his eyes that I don't trust.

I know that's a very American way to judge a candidate, but I can't help it. He looks like a prick and he acts like it a lot of the time. Plus, he seems willing to push forth any agenda as long as it will get him elected.

I've said it a million times . . . why can't we just have Clinton back?

exactly.
especially about that being a lame way to vote. i mean, people always say that that's what sucks about elections - whoever's the best actor on TV gets the votes cos people trust him. but i don't see how else we're supposed to decide.. it's not like every citizen can just go and interview all the candidates themselves. and you certainly can't just trust them all to do what they say they'll do.. so what other choice do you have but to go off the 'gut feeling' you get when you see/hear them on tv?

i don't want clinton back, though. he sucked, too.
