Casey Anthony
I guess we have another OJ Simpson case in the media. Only difference is that Anthony was made a celebrity.
"Beyond a shadow of a doubt."
Sonnofabitch.
What the hell you gonna do, the prosecution blew it.
You've got Kaylee rotting in the trunk of the car, but you can't put Casey's hands around her neck. What do you do? You *don't* try the case until you can put her hands around the baby's neck; that's what you don't do.

Now, please, don't think that I in any way, shape, or form believe that this woman is innocent. But, the evidence appears to me to all be circumstantial and in a case like this, the jury would be looking at a lot of evidence that makes her look guilty, but I've seen nothing so far that says there is no doubt whatsoever that she did do it. I hate trials like this because your instinct tells you she's a twisted person, but instincts can't send a person to death.
Once again, I do NOT sympathize with this woman, I am merely trying to understand and possibly make a point about the justice system that the people decided upon.

I one hundred percent agree with chenoa. A huge pile of different pieces of circumstantial evidence does not equate a single piece of irrefutable evidence. It may for the logical person, but 99% certainty isn't enough in the eyes of courtroom philosophy.
I really wanna have a conversation with this woman. Brain cases like hers excite me... in a non-sexual way.

Look as long as she gets into sports memorabilia and holds someone at gunpoint for some baseball cards or autographed footballs or what have you, then she'll get the time she deserves. That's just the way it is with these people.

I personally don't like how the media won't shut up about it. But it is inevitable.
I prefer just to move on and not dwell on this.
It must be hard for a trial to go on when the media jumps in. I haven't followed the case but I was watching it for the past day or so. I think it's wrong that she could escape justice. Seriously I was in tears watching the prosecution, and the next day they just drop charges! Even despite that I'm not a supporter of the death penalty this whole thing makes me sick to the stomach!
The thing I don't understand is the meter reader guy (who found the remains) not reporting it imediately. I am trying to understand his motive for that. If her remains had been collected by authorities when the were first discovered, months befor they were collected finally, there may have been a much more solid case. There may have been hasrder evidence.
I agree with the fact that a mountian of circumstantial evidence does no equate to irrefutable evidence. Nobody jump on me here, but while justice has not been done for Caylee, the justice system did do its job properly. I do not think it is the system that failed, it is the evidence that failed. If she truely is guilty it is a shame the evidence is not available, but on the small chance of innocence (for anyone under the barage of circumstantial evidence, not just this case) the beyond a reasonable doubt clause serves a great purpose.
His depositions and testimony were contradictory, for sure. They played the phone calls in court from when he called three different times between August and December saying he'd seen something suspicious, "like bones" in the area. I think the discovery of the body was just a cluster all around - an opportunist wanting to get himself involved, a failure of procedural bureaucracy on the part of law enforcement (they shuffled him around, not seeming to pick up on what he was saying), etc. I'm sure at that point, all the crazies were coming out of the woodwork and calling the authorities. I'm not excusing it at all, but I'm sure they were overwhelmed with trying to weed out legitimate tips. They had people saying they'd seen the kid in other parts of the country, even.
The justice system (in regards to the court proceedings) worked as it should in this case. It's unfortunate that someone got away with committing a crime, but that's just the way it works sometimes. I also think there's a difference between someone being innocent and being found not guilty based on evidence presented by the prosecution.
I'm the kind of person who shouldn't/wouldn't qualify as a juror in a case like this. I have no respect, no sympathy, and therefore would grant no mercy to a woman who chooses to be a shitty mom. There is no reason on Earth to not take care of your children and be a good mother. Period. No excuses, not ever.
Yeah, there is a big difference between innocent and not guilty based on evidence. And the verdict surprised me too.I wouldn't ever want to be on a jury for anything like this.
NANCY GRACE RAPED AND MURDERED CAYLEE ANTHONY
"My April fools joke: A rabbi and a priest walk into a bar. The rabbi orders a beer. The priest orders a whiskey. They have an engaging conversation about the world economy because they are both educated on such matters. Richard Dawkins walks in with a pack of savage scientists, and yells: "I AM HERE TO HAVE AN ORGY OF SCIENTIFIC REASONING IN THE FACE OF YOUR QUAINT SUPERSTITIONS." The priest and the rabbi finish their drinks and quietly leave the bar as Richard Dawkins begins to masturbate." -Phil Jourdan
I know little and less about this whole deal. I'll wait for the movie.
Also, I have no idea who Nancy Grace is.

Lucky you.

I just want someone to accept my craziness...haven't found the right kind of crazy though.
Here is an article I found on the internet. Looks like she's cashing in.
The Casey Anthony book blitz has begun. St. Martin’s Press said it had acquired a book about Ms. Anthony, the Florida mother who was found not guilty last week of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. “Inside the Mind of Casey Anthony,” by the forensic psychiatrist and television pundit Keith Ablow, will be released this year. “Dr. Ablow delivers a cogent, comprehensible way of understanding exactly how Casey Anthony’s psyche may have developed and how her psychological development and the dynamics within her family ended the life of Caylee Anthony,” a spokesman for St. Martin’s, part of Macmillan, said in a statement. “Whether readers liked or hated the jury’s verdict, Dr. Ablow will answer the question, ‘Why is Caylee Anthony dead?’ ” Dr. Ablow has been discussing the case on Fox News for three years. He was the co-author, with Glenn Beck, of “The 7,” which was released in January by Threshold Editions, part of Simon & Schuster.
If anyone has any experience with people that are unstable (they just happen to have enough stability that it doesn't come out right away), it'd be a joke to buy that book. From the pictures and bios, it should be obvious as to how Casey decided to kill her daughter.

Well I'm just glad the case is over. Now maybe on Nancy Grace I can finally hear about other sickos and degenerates possibly living around the corner store from me--and is my next door neighbor that killer with the s&m fetish.
I use to turn to Nancy Grace to show me the sensationalist crimes and never the dull drawn out aftermath, but ever since this hot mess Casey Anthony, that's all she ever focus on. It was fine for a month, but I tuned out after Nancy Grace reported on Casey A. 2 year anniversary in jail.
Really, we need to get over this case.
Oh & I cannot wait to buy Casey's book and watch her lifetime docudrama. I don't think this makes me some sick twist or heartless whore.
Look at your body covered in those silly tattoos expressing your eternal human soul---but actually keep piling it on and you will just become one. . . big. . . human. . . stain.

Yeah, I can't believe that chick got off the hook. Now THAT'S a goodass lawyer! I feel for her poor father, especially. The defense threw that poor guy under the bus every time they had a chance. Accused him of sexually abusing his lying-ass daughter and of helping her cover up the "accident" with his granddaughter, while the poor guy is sitting there in the courtroom! This gal is certifiably batshit crazy.
