disx is right though, it is old news. there was a small scandal about it when he was running or just right after he was elected about the possibility that money from the NAZI party might have provided for his college experiance.
anyway, a lot of people worked for and/or with Hitler, back then you didn't have much of a choice. not to mention that at the beginning of Hitler's political carreer he was a very promising political candidate, who talked more about supplying jobs to the people and not as much about total world domination.

i guess they thought that ancestral ties to the losing political parties of the past are indicators of individual achievement/ideals. in any case, a lot of nations, the US included, supported hitler initially. the US actually supported his march into the Rhineland in 1936 and his political leadership in the beginning.
