I still have not seen the full video. The most I have seen have been clips from CNN/Fox News, one of which had the soundbyte of Berg screaming while (I Assume) he was being held down and having his throat slit. That alone is far too disturbing.
There has been a morbid curiosity of wanting to see the entire video but I just can't do it, at least not now-- knowing I am witnessing the death of someone who was alive just a couple of days ago.
The whole thing has been pissing me off for the past few days. I wish the world could be erradicated of these (terrorist) mother fuckers, not just in the mideast but throughout the entire world, but that is never going to happen. David Cross pretty much summed the whole matter up when he said you can't win a war on terrorism. These pieces of human garbage are born every day and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.
I'm tired of Bush coming in trying to build up a free democracy in Iraq. It isn't ever going to work. We are hated there, do you think after we bomb the shit out of them they will just accept our beliefs just like that?

That kid had a family and he was incredibly smart. he had no intent to hurt those people. and we're all disrespecting him and his family by watch him get killed. I haven't read any recent articles, so I'm not sure who these people were. The other day on the news (dunno how much credibility this woman has) said that it wasn't al-qaeda that they heard in the tape it was al-qaed which means "sitting around doing nothing" So they aren't al-qaeda? Anyway, I'm not really sure.
What I heard on DaySide yesterday (the first good thing I've heard from Fox News in a long time) is how no Arab countries are speaking out against this. What Insomnomaniac said was right - they're just trying to get leverage in Iraq. The reporter on Fox mention this too....Where were all these people horrified at Iraqis being tortured when Saddam was torturing and killing thousands of them? They may not have been able to speak out. And we are the country that says we believe it was wrong - and then we turn around and do it ourselves. But still - where was this outrage then?
Which reminds me - we weren't asked to "help" in Iraq - but *could* they have asked for our help?
This is what makes me mad about us just blowing up Iraq because of this - Too close-minded that they just lump all people who look like this into the same group of people. They weren't from Iraq. So this means America should be blown up because of our few serial killers? They are such a small percentage. I'm sure it's the same over there - I have no idea what their population is, but there has to be "normal" people in Iraq.

About SNL though - they don't have enough new shows. But last week's "Debbie Downer" I think it was called. That was the hardest I've laughed in so long. And it was probably the worst sketch they've thought of in a long time - but messing up made it 100 times funnier.
btw, someone posted above that they heard "allahu wacbah". the words are actually "allahu akbar," which means, "God is great". it is a common Muslim prayer but is also chanted by radical islamists during stonings, beheadings, etc.
speaking of which, elsewhere on ogrish there's a film of several stonings. if you thought the beheading one was bad...
and finally someone else also pointed out that the danny pearl one wasn't as bad, which is true, but this is because the camera wasn't working during the first "take" so to speak, so they acted as if they were cutting off his head but he was already dead.
had the camera worked during his actual death, the video would have been as gruesome as the other one.

When bad things *almost* happen, you tend to forget how bad it actually could've been. Like the "shoe-bomber". It was a big deal, but not as bad as if it actually blew up the plane.
Can you imagine how lucky that other guy feels, the one who just escaped? Especially since the video came out.
I watched the video to remind myself that it's all real. I'm so used to watching movies that when I hear of someone getting killed...it's just a "oh that's horrible" reaction...rather than the reaction I had to this murder because I've seen the video...which left me speechless. I tend to forget how awful anyone getting murdered is. I hear about all these people getting killed in Iraq, but I never really understand how serious it is because I don't really think about it. It's weird how you can get used to hearing something so much that it doesn't even bother you anymore...until you're reminded of WHY it bothers you...
We are them though. What they do we do in secret. I haven't read this thread but I saw the vid and uh wish i hadn't but its just out there to counter what we're up to and always have been. If you lose your humanity you may as well not exist.
