Seriously though, any plans on a kindle release of this?
I'm planning to buy multiple copies to gift out, nudge friends towards discovering some great writing... but... I would like a Kindle version to snuggle up with
I do believe it will be available for Kindle and Nook in addition to print.

This is gonna be a great one.

I love that Steve Erickson did the foreword since he's once of my favorite writers. Wish he had mentioned me, but I imagine my story was too goofy for him.
No way, man. I bet he didn't mention you because he got shy after reading it and has a man crush on you.

Oh, man, I'm so excited about this. As for Erickson, it's HUGE. He didn't mention me in his Foreword, but I have had a few emails back and forth with him (nicest, down-to-earth guy, too), which started from me drunkenly adding him after reading the Foreword and him accepting when I was even more drunk and me writing him a Facebook message (ugh!). Luckily, the next morning when I read back I didn't make any silly typos or grammatical errors and I didn't sound like a fanboy, so, suffice to say, I was relieved. Anyway, as I was saying, he didn't mention me, but through email he said he really liked my story and that it was "a little gem, albeit with a very dark glow" and then mentioned really liking the punchline. AND then he said, swear to god I'm not lying, he said: "The honour is all mine".
My mind: blown.
I can't believe this shit. Being in this anthology, along with Clevenger, Jones, Evenson, Davidson is enough. It's so enough. It's too much. I feel crazy about it, especially seeing as though my first short was published last December. It's HUGE for me. It's the first time I'll be published in an actual book. And it's with some of my heroes. And a bunch of guys I admire and look up to. It's also my first paying job as a writer. Then Erickson. It's crazy. I'm so honoured, so proud, so fucking stoked.
And it's going to be an insanely good anthology. I'm sure it'll win an award or two.
So, to mark all of that, I'm getting a Warmed and Bound tattoo. Maybe tomorrow.
How come you're getting paid when the whole process is to revamp The Velvet?
You look like the type of guy / gal, who would like:
Well, we (all the authors) had the choice between three contracts: Royalties to author, royalties to The Velvet, royalties to some charity. I was selfish and a prick and decided to take the money. I was uncomfortable about it at first, embarrassed, but now I'm happy with my decision. I think it was the right choice, for me.
This is not exactly true. None of the fundraising we did before went into the creation of the book, however, any of its profits not claimed by its contributors may go into the site fund for upkeep and hosting and whatnot.
This looks tits. Looking forward to it.
I feel more like I do now than I did before.
I chose to give my royalties to The Velvet since I figured it wouldn't be much considering the number of contributors.
^good man, me too, the only difference being that i think this book is going to sell a lot of copies

Does that make me a bad man, in your eyes, Rich?
by contrast, Matt. But being completely honest I'd probably have done the same thing. Hoping this bad boy doesn't cost a lot to ship to the UK.
You look like the type of guy / gal, who would like:
no, not a bad man - it was a decision that i struggled with as well, but in the end i decided that the launching of the velvet press was more important than me getting some $$$ - i may regret it if this thing really takes off, i don't blame you

Since the Velvet is the Velvet Press. Hopefully it means more releases in the future.
You look like the type of guy / gal, who would like:
Hopefully. We're just seeing how this goes, hoe much work it takes, how sales are, all of that. I'd personally love to see an anthology a year.

Amen.
I feel more like I do now than I did before.
The last thing you should feel as a writer accepting pay for your talent and hard work is selfish or bad. It's not like we're all in demand or anything. Take what you can get, or take what you've earned, I should say, and don't look back. I get that it's a break and an honor for a lot of writers to be a part of this project, but you've all still contributed nevertheless.

We'll be giving away a copy of this signed by Caleb and myself at our next reading. Here's the details: http://calendar.kansascity.com/event/id/E0-001-040223158-6/god-hates-aut...
Yes, it's happened to several people, apparently, with no reason stated. Me as well. Someone made a phone call, and one of the warehouses has a lot of stock and the other has zero, so I think somehow one hand just isn't talking to the other. Disappointing, to say the least, given the number of orders yesterday. I hope it's not too widespread.
Also, it's available on Amazon now as well, though at the regular price.
thanks gordon, let us know when you get info on what to do - do people need to reorder or what? i had mine cancelled too, as did matt bell and dan wickett
post up in WC or send an email, okay?

This actually happened to me too a few days ago (Tuesday, 7/19), but I figured because it wasn't available yet, and then yesterday (7/22) when Richard posted the announcement that it was now out, I ordered again through B&N -and more than 24 hours later, no word from B&N so it looks like the order went through this time because my first cancel notice came fast -less than 24 hours.
As far as the question of redordering -Yes, I had to redorder because I did not get an option for reordering or any details around the product when I received my first cancel notice on Tuesday -just an email stating the order was not fulfilled.

I've spoken to a BN rep and after about a half hour of dancing around in circles, she finally gave me the reason for the cancellations. It's not my place to reveal it, I've passed it on to Pela, but shit made my blood run cold.
I think I'm done doing business with BN indefinitely.
Well I'm absolutely willing to pay the amazon price if this second order with B&N doesn't come through -can anyone confirm that the orders w/amazon are working?

Just received word from B&N that my newest order has in fact, been canceled -so seeing that this is the second time, I placed an order through amazon just now and will keep everyone posted on whether or not that ships.
