This needed to be done, and, frankly, I'm surprised it hasn't been yet. So, here it is. Post links to your recently published stories in here, for all to see, and click.

Just today, my micro-fiction noir "A Honeycomb Kiss" went live at Short, Fast, and Deadly.

If you haven't checked out this place, you ought to. Fiction submissions have to be under 400 Characters--yeah, characters, not words--long. It's fucking hard. But satisfying if you can nail it. They're a weekly online zine and do themed issues once a month, and an annual print anthology (which I have a story in, coming out soon).

Now, your stories, please.

Nice Matt. That was riddled with intrigue.

I ought to submit to them, as most everything I write seems to only make it as far as 400 characters anyhow.

Romance! Betrayal! Greed!

I actually really did like it. Nice job.

Thanks, guys. I really do appreciate your recognition. It fills me with all sorts of goodness. I've got another very, very short piece coming out with the same guys soon, but it's going to be in their annual print anthology. Pretty excited about seeing my words printed on paper.

That was a nice job man, I just submitted a few of my own. It is definitely easier said then done. A real challenge, and yours was very good. How are you getting it in the printed anthology?

Currently boosting my own website - www.jayslaytonjoslin.com - where I conduct interview with writers and musicians et al. Will put up my own creative writing on there soon. Currently had interviews with:

M.J Hyland - Booker Award Nominee
Gene Brewer - Author of the K-Pax Series
Zia McCabe - OF the rock band The Dandy Warhols
Brandon Tietz - Our Cultee, and author of the excellent book Out Of Touch.

My dream is just to have 100 suscribers via the email thing, and someone to send me there book to interview. If anyone is published or knows anyone let me know to sort it out. Have some more coming up soon.

Thanks, Jay. I read your interview with the Tietz the other day. It's good stuff. Some good Qs.

The SFD print anthology is pretty much a best-of from the year prior's weekly zine. I think, one story, and one poem from each issue is picked for it. But on top of that, the editor did an open call for submissions. The requirements were that 12 more poems and 12 more stories would be accepted to represent each month of the year. So one had to write a piece loosely based on a particular month.

My story, "One Crowded Hour", will be representing the month of June.

Let us know how you go with your submissions. Joseph, the editor always gets back to you within 24 hours, do you shouldn't have to wait long. Good luck.

I'm pretty new to this site. Just registered with the idea that if I wanted to join the writer's workshop I'd have an account. Read this thread and grew interested. By the way, 'hand-up-the-skirt kisses' was a nice touch. Writing a peice only 420 characters long sounded like a hell of a challenge so I submitted something about 5 minutes ago but I'm not sure they'll accept it because there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of swearing in the works I've read. In the rules it stated that R rated was there line in the sand, so to speak, I just hope the F word isn't going too far. Any thoughts?

Well, my story has a line in it "My fucking jaw". So, I think you'll be fine. Let us know how you go. And welcome.

I'm gonna be a secondhand whore now.

Thew new issue of Thunderdome is up and a few culties have stories up there: Amanda Gowin (elizamelon), Mckay Williams (miggitymcwilly), Edward J Rathke, Charles King (Atomos), Danielle Tobias (six) and the ever-popular, Richard Thomas.

Great issue, really. Kind of jealous I'm not up there with that bunch. A lot of great writing. Thunderdome is shaping up to be one kickass publication.

And while you're already over there, you can check out my story from issue zero, "Two Guys Walk Into a Bar". I just noticed how many reads that page has had, and I have to say, I'm fucking surprised. I broke 300, which is nice to know.

Wow. That's retarded. I read your story at least three times and didn't even notice that you wrote 'fucking'. I can't believe I'm that desensitized. My submisssion is about a stripper who's accused of stealing from a patron that ripped her off so she throws a tampon at him. I hope he runs it because I thought it was hillarious but I forget that sometimes other people don't share my sense of humor. And Thank You for welcoming me so graciously and for using this site to share good writing like yours. I like it here. I think I might stay.

'Two guys walk in to a bar' great writing. Honest and intimate. Poor drunken bastard. That very matter of fact, almost fly on the wall writing style reminds me of Hubert Selby Jr.'s Last Exit To Brooklyn. He just tells it, the whole thing, every ugly detail and then a funny thing happens. You love the characters anyway.

Hey matthew.odonnell, cheers for bringing that site to my attention. There's some good stuff on there. (Your piece is great, well done for getting in the anthology too) I'm really getting into microfiction. I spent several hours the other night looking through those.

I can testify to the editor being both friendly and fast, I submitted some stuff to him two days ago and this morning he told me he's going to use one in issue 70 which should drop sometime in April I believe. Maybe this time next year I'll be in an anthology too. (for the record this will be my very first publication, it may only be 85 words but I'm still chuffed to bits)

-Martin

We've gone from 920 to 982 fans in the past week at my Fan Page! When it hits 1000, that lucky person, and the person that invited them in, will both get signed copies of Shivers VI with my story "Stillness" and great work by Stephen King, Peter Straub and many others. So if you haven't joined yet, my friends and fellow authors, now is the time!

I'm in there too. And from what I've heard, the great authors included go even beyond Clevenger and Jones. I haven't been this excited about one of my pubs in a long time.

Check out the other readers at The Velvet Podcast, too (as soon as the site goes up again). More than just Tietz in there.

After a few tries Short, Deadly and Fast have accepted a story of mine! Coming out in issue 72, very excited. Even though its such a small amount, my first publication.

I'm thinking I'm going to keep writing short stories, focus less on my novel. Feel they will give me more experience and credit.

Good stuff, mate. Short, Fast, and Deadly is a ripping little magazine. Well, I dig it anyway.

Got my copy of their anthology, Deadlier Than Thou, in the mail a few days ago. Very exciting. It's my first print publication and it's so damn cool seeing your words printed on paper.

Yay! All-star cast. I'm in too, guys. This anthology is going to be killer. Not only will there be new stories from both SGJ and Clevenger, but some other pretty awesome names too, including world-renowned author, Richard Thomas. Very much excited to have a story in the same place as all of the above. You too, Brandon and Caleb.

I feel lovely.

Myself, and a few other culties/velveteers (Frank, Chuck, Amanda, Chris Deal, Bob Pastorella (formerly Vandamage here)) have been published in the latest themed issue of Thunderdome, along with a cultie-favourite Stephen Graham Jones. It's a great issue, so click on that little yellow Thunderdome and check it out. SGJ's story is stupidly good and I feel slightly embarrassed by my second-rate story, but, still, very, very proud to be next to the man.

We've heard of these Black Friday bargains before...$300 laptops and $70 iPods. We see them in an ad or on the news and head out to Best Buy or Circuit City at 4:30 in the morning cold with the rest of the desperate suckers. Some deals, however, the normal people can't know about. The $50 bricks of weed and 80% price cut on AK-47s (limit 2). Asian prostitute doorbuster sales. Every bottom-feeding piece of shit knows you go to Kelly's for the best Black Friday deals.

Got a peice accepted for Thunderdome, going up on April the 2nd (Day after my birthday, just sayin'). So that should be pretty cool. Trying to do longer fiction now rather than just short 200 word flash fiction.

Still running my website, looking for subscribers that aren't my immediate family.

My review of YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE ANYONE I KNOW, the touching, courageous, heartbreaking memoir by Heather Sellers is now live at The Nervous Breakdown. It's the story of a woman who has face blindness. She can't remember anyone's face. Heather came down to Murray State where I'm getting my MFA to speak, and she was so funny, a great teacher, smart, beautiful, just a really giving person. I had no idea she had all of this going on. Really endearing, her story.

Haven't seen anything about this on The Cult today, so I'll remind you on his behalf that Caleb J Ross's first novel, STRANGER WILL is out today in paperback, hardback, and Kindle via Otherworld Publications. Someone should probably create a thread for this... Oh, and he's embarking on a blog tour (with over 60 stops) to promote it.

Yeah, I totally like places that have cool names, because then when you write it into your bio it looks badass. Plus, places that have really cool names just seem to be the kind of places that have really cool stories, too.

Thieves Jargon is another really cool one. Hard to get into though.

Yeah, I figured they lean towards the more offensively violent type stuff. And anything that plays with form a bit, too. I think I've got a story I could send them. But it's out at a place that doesn't like simultaneous subs at the moment. So, I'll wait to hear back from them and if they reject it I might just have to send it Pulp Metal's way. It's a second person noir with plenty of exploding nose cartilage and heads through brick walls and stuff.

I love you for this. I've been all over (or so I thought) reminding people about the book. I always miss those closest to me (see the dual meaning there; that's 'cause I is a author)

My review of Normally Special by xTx is now live at The Nervous Breakdown.

http://www.thenervousbreakdown.com/rthomas/2011/03/normallyspecial_xtx/

This is the debut collection from Tiny Hardcore Press and Roxane Gay. INTENSE stuff. How intense? Well, I lead off the review with this quote:

“It is difficult to masturbate about your father, but not impossible, as it turns out.”

Damn that's a talented bunch of miscreants. Just out of curiosity, how many of you are in the workshop or have been?

Not to sound asinine or be facetious, but is it/ was it worth it? Did you learn anything?
*And after this I am done pirating this thread with my own queries.*
