OW Press collectible slipcase #3 with 5 signed books!
You book collectors may be interested in this.
Myself and another OW Press author, Tim Hall, hand made 5 slipcases, stuffed them with signed copies of the first four OW press books (and another bonus signed, non-OW Press book) and are now selling them, one at a time, on eBay in hopes of generating some funds to keep the press a-pressin'.
The bidding is staring at $27, which is the list price for the four books combined ($27 is actually less than the cover price of all five included books, which would be $38).
Click here to take a look at the eBay auction. If you know anyone who may be interested, please pass along the link. My hope is to at least have each of these slipcases sell for the base $27 cost. If that happened, we would be happy as drunk clams.

This one is sold - see below for the next case for auction
that's brilliant caleb.
will you be updating this thread to remind us as each copy goes up?
I bid $50 and someone else bid higher so I give up. Let me know if I can paypal you dudes the money or something.
Im a fan of Caleb and since I owe you Cujo underpants I went bidding!
All of you are so damn cool. Thank you so much!
@Barca - yeah, I'll definitely update this thread to let everyone know when the new ones go up for bidding.
As far as paying me direct, I think that because the word has already been put out that all five slipcases will be auctioned, I probably shouldn't sell direct. But damn, if all of the slipcases get $50 each, I'd be so effing happy.
Tell you what, if you guys don't win any of the remaining auctions (or if you don't want to wait to try and bid again) I will custom make a slipcase for each of you. Money will, of course, still go back to the press.
If you want a sneak peak at the other two slipcases I made that will be auctioned, click here. Those are cigar boxes.
I so extremely happy that you guys like these things. I was so scared that the reaction would be silence. Seriously, if you guys want me to do custom cases, just PM me. I definitely will. I will have to get signed copies of the other books mailed to me, but that shouldn't be a problem.
I love you guys.
@Des - They only smell a little like me. Mostly, they smell like the hobos I have locked in my basement. Channel No5 hobos.
ahahahaa, holy hell i love the cigar box. first because its a fucking cigar box, but secondly and perhaps moreso because i burst out laughing when i saw the chain above and little stick beneath the books; reminded me of some trap wile e cayote would set for roadrunner, come beneath the books my friend, splat. backfire.
that's brilliant caleb, on so many levels.
they are amazing, especially the wile e cayote trap one.
wow, caleb - fantastic - can i get you to make 100 for my next book?

How did you get that cover-over-text effect on the book pages (the one where the cut-out book is the slipcase?)

I love all of these. Books as art objects, artifacts. The cigar box ones are incredible too. I could see you choosing one style form these 5 and doing some kind of limited art-print run (Book Soup in LA loves to carry things like that. If you're interested, I'll see if I can find anything out for you on my next visit)
I cant wait to get my hands on one of these!
Also after meeting Caleb two years ago in New York I can voucher for him being a great guy.
You guys are the coolest.
Simple iron-on transfers. I damped the page with a bit of water, then applied the transfer with a low heat (hi-heat, used for t-shirts, would brown the pages). I tested a few other ways, but they were miserable failures. This one worked the best, by far.
That would be really cool. Yeah, ask, if you think about it next time you are there. I had a lot of fun with these things, so I can definitely imagine making a few more.
@Wicker - I'll gladly make a couple for you. If you can provide the books, I'll scrap around (like I did for the OW Press ones) and see what I can come up with. I have a idea for one that would use a metal, mafia-money-case style case with a hollow bottom that would contain the books. You know, like in Desperado, where the fake guitar lifts to show all the weapons. This one would have either drugs, money, or maybe even rejection slips, with the book(s) hidden underneath; sorta saying that the real dangerous thing is the book(s), not the drugs, money, or rejection slips.
Anyway, again, I had fun with these. I'm so crazy happy that you guys like them.
Really? What are you thinking, one of the S/L or the paperback? That sounds really cool

Slipcase #2 is now up for auction. I really like this one. Maybe because cigars are actually part of the construction. Who knows?

Like before, the bidding is staring at $27, which is the list price for the four books combined ($27 is actually less than the cover price of all five included books, which would be $38). Plus, you get the wonderful Caleb-scented masculinity of a handmade book sleeve. You lucky bitches.

Slipcase #3 is now up for auction. This is my favorite, I think.
