LOBSTER CULT MAGAZINE - Jack and Phil call you for submissions!
We've received more submissions and we're in the process of selecting some for publication.
Thanks for the encouragement, peeps, and spread the word if you can.

One minor gripe: the narrow format for the stories. They would read easier if they took up more horizontal space. Perhaps you could post a PDF or something for those of us who prefer standard formatting. Kudos on the story selections though.

What about now? How's the margin? It's about as good as I can make it at the moment.

I'm finding the web development software I've been using very limiting. I may start the design from scratch by using a new software, but keep the same domain name and the same text, images, etc.
Let me try some things out.

OKAY. Lobster Cult Magazine is now up and running, and we have two stories up there so far, as well as three author profiles.
If you have published a novel (or are about to), let us know and we'll happily create a profile for you.

Phil,
Are you going to do some more design stuff or is this final? I actually preferred it before when there was more color going on. Everything's really gray now.
And what about an official logo? Something lobster-y.
Just a couple thoughts. I'm sure you guys are swamped with submissions right now.
I'll send you guys something soonishly. Sometimes e-mails are too hard for me to write.
What do you know? You're a girl!
Guys should smell like me.
You're not wearing the hat i sent you?
Ah!!!

It's not final, but it's going to stay for now until I can find something a little more appropriate.
As for the logo, if someone designs me one, I'll use it!

The site looks damn cool.
So if you have or are about to publish a novel, we would love to create a special page simply to showcase it. For instance, we know that Richard Thomas, Brandon Tietz and Gordon Highland have or are about to publish a novel. We'll give a link once the homepage is ready.
What about story collections?

Man, send me a PM with your details, a picture of you and some links! I'm sorry I forgot about you!

I like the revised site much better. Keep up the good work guys.

Thank you, I worked very hard telling Phil over and over "I have no fucking clue how to do any aspect of web design", and reading/smoking all day as he worked.
The appreciation is deserved and welcome.

More exciting news: We've received submissions from Catfish McDaris, who, as some of you may know, worked on a book with none other than Charles Bukowski. Though we don't publish poetry (his submitted poem is gold), his story "A Brujo in Disguise" is now up on http://lobstercult.com/page7/page13/page13.html
Check it out.

Yeah, his stuff is good. He's had a few pieces over at Outsider Writers, too, if anyone is interested. Here's the link to his stuff: http://www.outsiderwriters.org/?s=%22Catfish+McDaris%22

You guys should get in with duotrope, too. It's a site built for us wannabe authors to track where our submissions are, where we've been accepted, where we've been rejected, all that. Too, it might give you guys some traffic and submissions from people and places that you would normally not see.
Just a thooght.
For literary sites, is it the norm to have comments or not?

sure, people comment at literary sites all the time - take a look at most any of my live stories at this link, while not ALL allow comments, some do

If I gave you a story would you be able to post it in color? The color of some of the words is important to the story.
Who do you think you are, Faulkner?
Just a thooght.
Dan took care of that yesterday, and we've received confirmation that it's been accepted in their listings!
Comments are a possibility that I'll look into, Alexa.
And Mike, I'm not sure about the colors. I'd need to know more about it, and to check the web design program I'm using.

this is great. i shall partake as a fan, follower, or whatever you youngins call it these days.
The first two chapters of my novella, As a Machine and Parts, is now live at Lobster Cult (in .pdf). I've got to say, that out of all the things I've written, this novella I am perhaps most excited about. There is one publisher interested in taking it on, but I haven't received official confirmation. When/if I do, you can bet that The Cult will be some of the first to know.
I also have an excerpt up from my novel:

To see the rest of the Session 02 photoshoot, visit the Facebook link on my Lobster Cult profile. Enjoy!
Monica Drake, author of "Clown Girl," was kind enough to check out my piece on Lobster Cult and offer a few words of praise via Facebook:

Read the story here: http://www.lobstercult.com/page7/page4/page4.html
And check out her novel if you haven't already.
Thanks,

WOW. mate, that is so freakin' brilliant! MD!
At such a young age we become obsessed with stitching and fabric quality, with the color and shade of a jacket’s interior, sometimes making conscious wide movements in hallways between periods to show off the elegant emerald or tasteful ashen shades hiding within. We get tie clips and spend countless hours scouring the intercepted catalogues of our fathers looking for that perfect tie or patterned oxford. We shop watches and wallets. Cologne and aftershave sets. Though most of us have only begun to enter a stage of maturity, we feel we’re already years behind and struggling to catch up—if not to our fathers, than at least to the seniors of Penbrooke who saunter about the hallways bawdy and distinguished, as if they take a smug sort of pleasure in knowing something we don’t.
New excerpt up. Check out the whole thing here: http://www.lobstercult.com/page46/page50/page50.html

Sounds great... hope I have something on the shelf worth mentioning.
