Hey all - For sale are a few different scarce and early Chuck books. All are affordable and unsigned, available for you to bring to Chuck's 'Damned' tour to get signed/stamped/burned/etc. Wouldn't it be sweet instead of Chuck's creative tour stamps, this year he would burn a logo into the covers with a hot poker?

1995 Pursuit of Happiness (1st true printing of Fight Club)

Although it appears I just joined up with the Cult to post these ebay auctions, I've actually been a non-logged in observer since before Rant came out. I heard about Chuck from the word of mouth about 'Guts' and the crazy Haunted tour that supported the book. I was also (and still do) ordering all my books through St. Helens since I lived out in Portland for a few years.

And, no, I am not the guy that is trying to sell an unsigned copy of Pursuit of Happiness on Ebay for $175, or a signed copy for $195 - although I have observed a signed copy of the same title sell for that much.

Let me know if you have any questions. You can read up about all these titles under the Cult's Bibliography page.

your starting prices are a trifle high. at least for an auction in a bad economy.

The prices are what they are - but (for either individual books or sets) are based on taking the 'unknown condition' aspect out of the purchase. I recently purchased a copy on Amazon for $25 that was described as 'used - very good'. What I got was an ex-library copy with all adhesive stamps known to man, including underlining AND highlighting. The white covers were more than soiled, worn and faded. All this for a 'very good' condition. If there are any copies listed on Amazon right now, you won't find any with a genuine condition report.

Being that I am a collector as well, I'm only offering copies in pristine condition that are worthy of being signed by Chuck. You may take your chances with other sellers, or (from me) know what you are purchasing, and who you are purchasing from. Plus, in this economy, whether growing or depressed, supply and demand is still a basic principal. If you can find a copy in better condition for less price than what I offer them for, I would encourage you to purchase it.

I'm not arguing that your prices are fair or not, because I have no idea. But I think it's funny that you can start the bidding at 70 or buy for now at 77... I would have done start the bidding at 50 and buy it now for 80. Or something like that.

I have an early, unsigned copy of The Best American Erotica 2003.

It's a hard cover and I think that it's a 1st printing. Someone gave it to me because it has an excerpt from Choke in it--but I never read it.

One of the authors is Vaginal Davis (I want to see the birth certificate) and it has a Q&A at the beginning with all of the authors.

PM me if you want it (cover the shipping and it's yours).

Sorry for hijacking your post

Sold--That went fast!

I'm pretty sure he isn't signing books at most of the readings.

@PGoutis
My prices are what they are - they are my asking price. I basically post my asking price, with 10% for buy it now (or 10% discount for opening bid win). I don't want to waste people's time posting something at a $1 starting bid with a high reserve - because I don't like bidding on those auctions either. Basically within the single book auctions you can figure out what all books are priced at - from $30 - 45 each. Buying the 'collections' would realistically save you $12 shipping charges from purchasing all of them on Amazon or Abebooks etc. I don't jerk people around with high shipping costs or waste people's time with reserve auctions - but there is a price I need to make to get back my costs into the books.

If interested parties think the prices are a bit too high, then that's perfectly fine...but at least they know there are options for early-edition, collectible-condition Palahniuk books out there.

@ScribblingDes
We both go by the same information on the 'Tour' page...half the locations say 'no signing', and half say 'to be determined'. All I know is I purchased my Minneapolis tour tickets (Aug 9th) a week before the Tour page said they were available - then posted the fact that the tickets are now available, before the date they had posted. I can't answer with certainty that Chuck will or will not be signing at any locations. All I know is information can be and is sometimes posted incorrectly, or plans change (venue/tickets sold/time conflicts/etc.)

Whether people purchase these to get signed at a tour stop is really not my concern - I am merely giving them the opportunity. I am always scouting for certain titles that followers of Chuck's work would find interesting (first prints of Choke, Survivor, Fight Club)and have had certain copies for sale in the past, which usually sell. Whether they get signed or not on tour, Culties interested in Chuck's work may find them interesting to pick up - or search for themselves online.

i went to several chuck readings and signings in the last ten years. he doesnt sign anymore because he's there until midnight on some nights because of people that want other stuff signed, or they get to talking with him, or he with them, and then of course stories are told, and things grind down.

the last one i did (for rant) had pre-signed ones that chuck had done that morning, and if you were one of the first hundred people there.... or you wore a wedding dress, he would personalize that pre-signed book.

signings are time consuming, and moreso the bigger you become, but i've seen people like willy vlautin stay an hour after an unpaid engagement to talk and sign, and there was only maybe thirty people at that. some of the chuck readings i saw had more than five hundred. in fact, that would have been a fire hazard for that venue.
