Yes! I am the newest member *fist pump*
Howdy all,
I am brand spankin new to the site. I'm not completely new to Chuck, but I have a lot of work to do. I read fight club over the summer. I had wanted to read it, but I felt that since I saw the movie what's the use. After reading it I found it to be better than the movie. I loved the style of Chuck. The minimalism, the repetition of certain phrases, the dark humor all were very appealing. I thought to myself, nobody writes like this guy. He is his own genre. This is amazing. So, I picked up a couple more of his books that I found on a buy 1 get one free at Border's...they happened to be "Survivor" and "Stranger than Fiction". After reading those my feelings about Chuck's superiority over other authors grew. I am now working on Choke, and have Invisible Monsters waiting in the wings. After that, I don't know what. I have heard great things about Haunted, and like the narrative style of Survivor, i think Rant would be an interesting read.
Anyway, about me, I am a middle school Soc. Studies teacher from Ohio...jeeze does my story really end there? I need more hobbies. Well, I coach Jr. High football, and do just about anything anybody else does on here...I read, I write, I drink, I fuck, I shit, shower and shave (not so heavy on the shaving though). If you want to know more, then just get at me. Looking forward to keeping up on the fascinating posts, the writing you all do, and perhaps throwing some things I write, or have written on here.

That's what they all say...then they just end up hanging around General Discussion
Welcome to the Cult! Good to have you.

...and...er...make some research.
I've always wondered, for those of you that are teachers, what if your school system found out you were here? Would it ruin you? People say terrible things here.
Welcome anyway!

Hello and Welcome Dude
What other authors do you like?
Is Cujo the bestest name for a cat?

I'm not one to concern myself with what my school would think. My first amendment protects me to a certain extent. I have heard worse from the mouths of 8th graders than most of what I have read so far.
that is for sure true.
I've just always thought, what if the cult turns up in some school district investigation? That'd suck!

Authors: Until Chuck caught my attention I was a Toni Morrison fan, Also love Camus, Tolstoy, Herman Hesse, and a smattering of random books that I enjoy more than the authors who wrote them
Yes Cujo is the bestest name for a cat
And, idk why you are the first to welcome newbies..because I am new. I will keep track of this from now on and after I have a decent amount of data I will analyze it and report my results to you

Nah probably not..I plan to hang on to this newbie post for as long as I can...maybe then I will move to the general discussion

What if one of your teachers happened upon the cult and saw you posting here?
I wonder how that would go.
Also welcome, new guy.
Welcome.

Most anyone I teach with would find nothing wrong with me being in this cult. At worst administration would ask me to cancel my membership (if they really thought this was not a "good choice"), at which point I would ask them on what grounds? To which they would have no substance to further the discussion. It is a paid private membership. If a student of mine were to join and see my posts, then that would be more of a concern with parents allowing their kids to join a site that has no filter for the topics discussed or the language used in those topics. I am not responsible for the actions of others, and as far as I see it the actions of others on here are not irresponsible, either.

Ahh I see...thought so..all that talk of "what would your school think?" had me second guessing my instincts that the gay thing was a joke...I was like, hmmm maybe that's what they meant by that. Either way though, gay or not my school couldn't make me not be a part of an author's fanclub/cult
Tell us more about the stuff you teach. We non-Americans would like to know.

8th grade social studies is mostly american history. I breeze through the dark ages, exploration, the renaissance, the reformation, the Enlightenment as background knowledge to help them understand the early stages of american history..then it is on into colonial america, The American Revolution, establishing a new government, expansion, The Industrial revolution, the civil war..anythig past that is just bonus really

So, as a member of this "cult", would you buy me the occasional expensive gift? I'm a great welcoming person and very kind but I expect a little work on your part, work in the form of expensive gifts, cars, mansions, the like. I don't have an iPhone yet for example if you're looking for ideas.
Oh Nathaniel, I thought it may have something to do with football. That's why I asked why you were asking...I do not live in Cleveland but my blood runs orange and brown through and through...and this Sunday we will clinch a playoff spot on your team's field

Adelheid...please read closer, I said I was a teacher. If that doesn't reveal my socio-economic status nothing will.

I like your style, Mr.Bigg. Welcome aboard. I taught a year of middle-school about 5 years ago. It damn near killed me. Coaching football, too? You're a trooper. Now I'm teaching in the slightly safer confines of a high school. It's tough, but it pays the bills.
