Yes, here's another newbie joining in....
Ok, so here I am... just saw Fight Club for the first time about six months ago (and promptly purchased it... big surprise). In the middle of reading (and loving) Survivor. Read (and got nauseous from) Guts.... and an aspiring (though thoroughly horrible, i'm afraid) writer. A friend of mine (interestingly enough, the one who showed me Fight Club and recommended Survivor) told me about the Cult, and as i tend to obsess on writers and chuck is my newest focus... i've been sort of poking around the free areas for a bit. VERY tempted to join.... mentioned it to another friend -- who messaged me just a bit ago with "your username is bethklein5, your password is xxxxxxxxx, happy birthday!" 
Hell of a birthday present, let me tell you!
The only problem is this: I hate my writing. truly hate it!! and not just because i have an overwhelming fondness for parentheses and ellipses 
mind you, i've been told that good writers always think their stuff is shit (er... am i allowed to say that here?). my logic is as follows -- ummm just because good writers think their stuff is bad, that doesnt mean that someone who thinks they're a bad writer is wrong. *sigh* but whatever LOL i suppose that the best way to become a good writer is to just keep writing, right?
Oh, apologies in advance, but i do have a SLIGHT *cough* tendency to ramble a bit when posting to message boards... or having a conversation.... or really, rather frequently!

LOL give me time, i've only been a member for two hours... during which time i've cooked dinner for the kids, refereed about a dozen fights, fielded a ton of phone calls (only rings when im trying to do something, never when im bored ), and made the mistake of starting to read the baseball thread. I got about 9 pages into it and gave up from the sheer volume -- all the stuff to which i wanted to respond? it's from FOUR MONTHS AGO!! ah well, i should've joined back then.... er.... if id known about this place lol

I've been poking around and losing huge chunks of time in here..... i do need to print out the essays to take them with me and read as i have time. i read the most recent, but i feel as though i need to start from the beginning. Reading some of the stories here is intimidating.... but once i've read the essays, i'll start reviewing and then I'll bite the bullet and post, get shat upon, and improve from there (and no, i dont really expect to be shat upon... literally or figuratively. but i do expect some GOOD constructive criticism. i welcome it).

Thanks lol the 5 in my name indicates that when i originally created my first bethklein username (ummm... i think it was yahoo?), there were already others so i had to add a number LOL since 5 is my favorite number, it worked.... i m ight've chosen a more creative username for this place, but a friend created the account for me and this is the name he used *shrug* so bethklein5 i shall remain....

I prefer you getting all freaky weird at first. Makes a better first impression that I can deal with easier and relate to as well. Plus there's no surprises later on since we already know you're screwy pencils with lettuce.
Insomnia is the best, especially when you get to that point of no return that just turns into a forced high of sorts (like "jogger's high" or something) and gives you new perspectives, like pot but without the coughing and munchies Johnny has no pants and likes to lick bookcases.
