I've been visting this site for a little more than a year now, but since I have never participated, I never remembered who's who.

Are there any big posters here I should know? admins? moderators?

Anything stupid that most cult "newbs" do that I should avoid?

And, don't worry, I've been reppin' my Chuck P shirt for a long time now. It has made me go high on everybody's respect-o-meter and the ladies (the ones who recognize the name) love it.

Thanks. That is all.

I just read this then I read that other guys original post. Yeah what kind of funktified shirt is elevating you to higher stature with women? They better not be myspace girls that you chat with and hookers that you pay to cry into their boobies as you defecate yourself on their lap. Thats just sick...but interesting. How did you approach said hooker when you wanted that sort of thing?

Well Statistics is an interesting place to look, although there are some top posters who have disappeared off the face of the Earth, apparently. I got about 2200 posts I would need to make to even make it on that page Sad

Hell no. I ain't into emo chicks and random piercings and whatnot. I hate myspace. I hate yourspace. I hate xanga and livejournal and friendster. Everybody just trying to call out to the world to remember that he or she still exists. The "bane of everyone's collective existence."

You'd be surprised how some of the smarter, less ignorant good looking women see my shirt and they're like, "hey what's "The Cult" and why would you want to be a part of it? It's a cult!"
Then, speaking in a very cryptic manner, I say it's kinda like Chuck Palahniuk's fan club.
-"ohh sounds familiar, what'd he write?"
-*sigh* "Fight Club."
-"wow, that's so awesome. My friend [Krystal] has read that book and she loved it."

However, once or twice, some part myspace-whore, part emo-bitch, part weirdass woman does approach me and I don't like that.

With a name like "The Cult," everyone gets curious. I then recommend Guts or Choke and those two ALWAYS create another fan.

wow, statistics is pretty cool. never seen that page before. 12 10,000+ posters (or 13, if you consider Tuffy, who quit when he reached 10,000, but somehow his numbers have diminished).

I remember way back in the early days of the web (I'm talking Netscape 2.0) this weird dude Ram Samudrala said to me, "The Web is all about vanity." I think about that often because I think he pretty much pegged it.

and to answer your questions, no one here has any personality. that's why we're on the web, instead of making out with chicks wearing chuck p shirts.

Hahaha

Good call on that one.

But, yeah, there are 3 shirts I own (i'm usually more collar shirt/jeans kind of guy) that I am really PROUD to wear:
the cult one, a Maddox t-shirt, and a TuckerMax tshirt. God, I love those. Even though they've grown small, I love 'em.

as far as things that newbs shouldn't do, i would say that you should do the opposite of whatever i have done. for some reason, many people seem to dislike me and think that i am stupid. in addition, it seems like the cult is just like high school with a bunch of cliques of people who are all chummy and friendly (older paying members) and a few outsiders, maybe just me. hope you enjoy the cult more than i am!

it seems like mirka sure doesn't like me. i swear to god that i just saw a post on the pointless announcement thread where she said i was feebleminded, daft and stupid. also, i was enjoying the cult until people started being bitches. i thought it was so interesting how people from all over the United States and world were all coming together and mingling based on our love for Chuck Palahniuk's books.

i said later on that i wasn't aware that i was supposed to buy guys drinks when they bought me drinks. and i really don't think that i made fun of my friends that much. i was just bothered that one night because they were having a bad attitude towards me and would not stop talking about how guys were only talking to me. its not like i'm the only one who talks about random pointless stuff. i mean its okay for people to have threads about doing cocaine and talking about masturbation, but its not okay for me to once talk about how i was a little annoyed with my friends.

ally, don't let them get to you. they're girls, this is what they do. you've got to buck up a bit and don't take it to heart. if you don't take it personal, you can totally make it to five, maybe even six thousand posts around here, and you'll slip right in to the in-crowd without even knowing it.

I thought she was saying that about Alex Cassun, but I wasn't really following the discussion. The desire for approval is an addiction much like crystal meth. You are rather naive, but we have an overabundance of cynical and jaded, so it provides a little balance.

I did in fact post that right after cassun's post for maximum comic effect. But if anyone wants to think they come off as daft or feebleminded, I'm not going to argue with them.
