One of my floormates would cut the backs of his sneakers off, making them look like sandals and shoes. He called them "shandals."

When I was little, I used to beg my mother to let me walk on the backs of my Keds, because I freaking loved the WT way people walked on the backs of their Converse lowtops at the A&P.
