Vegetable slinger incoming...
I'm just going to make this as quick as possible, for both our sakes. Just joined today, after reading alot about the workshops it seems like a great place to get feedback and learn to give constructive reviews. Myself I'm 30, moved to Austin 2 years ago from Richmond, Va and ready to actually focus on getting more envolved with my writing.
Welcome !
You're a brighter little soul than all of the jaded people here. Never take them seriously. NEVER.
vegetable slinger?
I work in a produce department so I sling vegetables most of the day.
ah, i was wondering if it was some kind of americanism i missed. (i'm aussie but living over here now)
anyway, welcome!
Welcome! Have a cupcake before you hit the workshop! Heck, have two.

Thanks everyone, I'll be reading alot before I dive in to the workshop. I've never reviewed someones work, unless it was a friend or someone I personally knew.
I thought this was going to be a Gallagher Appreciation Thread.
welcome good luck in the workshop.
Pfft.
Why did you you leave Richmond?
This is why we can't have nice things.
Welcome mate, see you in the WS hopefully! It's a great place.

I came to Austin with someone going to grad school at UT, so that didn't work out and now I'm here for awhile. The city is actually pretty chill, compared to Richmond.
Welcome fellow Austinite... I love this city too. Do you work at Newflower by any chance?

Nah Central Market
Ah that place is too ritzy for me..lol

Austin would be cool if you all didn't look the same. It's only good for partying there. And the capitol building was kind of cool. But the people? Bleh...
Well.. thats just like, your opinion man.
I find that Austin is quite more diverse and free than the rest of the state.

It may be more "free" but it's not more diverse. And it's only free because people there are hipsters who are weird for the sake of being weird. "Want to walk around with a dildo hanging out of your ass? It's cool, because this is Austin!"
Dallas is much more diverse and it's not filthy and full of junkies and bums. The girls in Dallas are much cooler too, not all boring and adorned in grey and brown clothes. Also, i've been to parties in Dallas that put everything i did in Austin to shame. I can't stand Houston but i'd live here over Austin any day.
Not everyone here is a hipster or is just weird for the sake of it. I'll bet when you were here you only went downtown to the trendy college bars. Most of the really good times are the dirty looking bars or just parties at someones houses. Dallas... not dirty.. really? I know for a fact that Dallas is full of junkies and bums cause I have been there and for every 1 bum on the corner here there were 20 all sitting around along the streets there. However I will admit that the Homeless center is in a pretty bad place here.
Personally I don't know girls that wear gray and brown clothes. Sounds like cowgirls or rednecks that you would most likely find in Ft. Worth.
I don't want to debate all day as to who's town is better because apparently we are both biased and that is not what I am here for.

Hmm i've been to Dallas probably 200 times and i've seen 2 bums. I've been to Austin only 1 time and i saw like 30 bums. You do the algebra. You don't know anything for a fact. Austin girls are boring hippy hipsters. Dallas girls are models and supermodels. All the guys have colored hair and horn-rimmed glasses and cardigans and beards and they've probably all tried heroin. BO-RING.
Well you got one thing right there and it also applies to you.

Do you Texans know anyone name Leon?
Yeah Leon is my neighbor, why this state is so darn small all Texans know each other.. Also tell him to stop walking his poodle wearing speedos, the old lady next door may have a heart attack next time.
