SNUFF: today is the day, so if you have it or read it post a review (some of us have to wait till payday)
I thought it was a great little dirty book, its like he took one of the more smutty jokes he tends to make in his novels and made it the center of the story, which eventhough is short and left me wanting a bit more, was well done. Its not in my top 5 but it will keep me satisfied until Pygmy is released.
Five stars - it gives you everything you'd want in a Palahniuk book. No child is left behind. It's the Oedipus myth, filtered through the worldview of Philip Larkin and the dark slapstick of the Jackass crew.
Though, I was curious as to why they used a brownish ink throughout the book.
Got it in the mail today, and I'll start it as soon as I finish RP's book, sometime this week. I'm a tad bit dissapointed in St. Helen's...last year I remember shipping costs being a little high, and this year they rose again. Though last year, the books came incredibly carefully packaged in a cardboard box via either FedEx or UPS. This year, they were bubble wrapped once and put in flimsy bubble mailer...they arrived in fine condition, but I know this packaging was no more than $3 to ship, and I paid $14 for 2 books. It wasn't the price that bothered me so much as tagging the price onto shipping when shipping quality dropped substantially. All in all, I don't regret ordering from them, but I don't find it to be the best business practice. Anyways, why am I posting this here? I guess because I don't feel bad enough about it to tell the store. Though I probably should, I don't want this to deter other buyers necessarily. And of course, Chuck's signing and personalizations are great.
got it after work yesterday. just finished reading it today. chuck is once again my hero. snuff is one of the most hilarious books i've ever read. i'm changing my avatar back to the picture of cody lane and myself.
Few white citizens are acquainted with blacks other than those projected by the media and the so—called educational system, which is nothing more than a system of rewards and punishments based upon one’s ability to pledge loyalty oaths to Anglo culture. The media and the “educational system” are the prime sources of racism in the United States. --Ishmael Reed
