Relapse
Chuck's work has a tendency of influencing a person's writing. Not just influencing, but totally dominating it. You read a few of Chuck's books and the next thing you know, you've written a sequel for Fight Club (which is obviously doomed to suck).
That's where I was a few years ago. I stopped reading Chuck's work after Rant. Now that my work doesn't bear his stamp as much, I've started reading him again.
I'm a writer and publisher (which is another way of saying I'm self-published). Look forward to talking to everyone.
I found Hunter S to cause more 'agony of influence' issues. I know both he and the Palahniuk are Fucking Scott Fitzgerald enthusiasts. Gatsby was not my thing though.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
I had a hard time finding my own style trying to shake off the influence of thompson and ellis
Was never big on Thompson, but Ellis also infected my prose (and subject matter) for a while.
Interesting introduction. Your name is probably Kevin? Welcome!
Yeah I can't write a submission without really trying to meet the standards of the transgressive genre thanks to Palahniuk and Ellis

Welcome to the cult!
