Hey everyone, I've been lurking the website as a whole for a while but haven't actually posted until now.

I'm English, from Yorkshire. I'll admit I first got into Palahniuk when I was younger through the medium of the Fight Club movie, probably about seven years ago now. I was always a massive Jeffery Deaver fan but I'm currently reading a lot of Douglas Coupland's and Bret Easton Ellis's work. I'm also doing my dissertation at the moment on Palahniuk, Coupland and Ellis Smile

and I've just got around to updating my interests in my profile if you want to know what kind of music, films and tele I'm into. The only things that it won't tell you are that I love computer games and a good night out!

Oh, and I want to join the writers workshop when money permits, unfortunately the pound is weak against the dollar at the moment and my hours at work have been cut Sad

Welcome! Hope your stay here at the cult is long and fruitful. I'm interested in your dissertation, though. I've been thinking about having my thesis be somewhat centered around Palahniuk's work. What is yours about, exactly?

Hi giggleloop! I like your name. It's fun to say out loud.

I used to work with a girl who worshipped Jeffrey Deaver, though I've never read him. Nice to have you aboard; I hope your money situation gets better. The workshop looks like a lot of fun!

It was admittedly a selfish thing to begin with, I wanted to do something different after feeling like I've only been part of a drab book club for the past three years so I wanted to cover something that I was really interested in. So I was going to pitch it down the path of trangression, it's still looking at that some what but it's branched out into different focuses than I first thought. I'm looking at Fight Club, American Pyscho and Generation X specificially.

Hi, thanks! It's from a British comedy called Coupling which is amazing, highly recommend it. They tried to do it in America (refilmed and changed the script I think) at some point but it failed.

That's a shame, I quite like the character of Kathryn but I'm a big Rhyme and Rune fan predominately although despite that my favourite Deaver has to be The Blue Nowhere. I've got The Broken Window on my book shelf ready to read as soon as I've finished my Uni reading as well. Do you like his past work then?

I liked Death of a Blue Movie star and a few of them. Its been so long since Ive read them I cant remember the names. What made me pick up The Sleeping Doll was the Manson conotation.

You're from Yorkshire? Do you sound lie someone from Emmerdale?

Ha, I don't watch Emmerdale so I'd like to say no but perhaps there is someone on there with my accent. I personally don't think it's too bad, I'm originally from Hull so I should sound ridiculous but luckily I don't. I think I sound Northern but that's about it. Although my 'noooo's have been known to catch me out at times!

Okay, so now I'm slightly apprehensive that I may be about to make a large faux pas by missing some kind of vital inside joke/knowledge but.... cat's names? Cujo is good and cat's are awesome.

It's depicting the giggle loop! It is lots of pint glasses stacked together, though you couldn't call it a giggle stack that would just sound silly. So no, no condoms.

Hull eh, the Tower, did you get yours in the Tower, and did it take less than an hour. What a lovely debauched den that place used to be. I remember a place that was good for gigs, local talent mainly, I think it was called, shit I can't remember what it was called, I know the Housemartins did some gigs there before they went all chart musicey.

What else do I remember, ermm, going to near by Beverley to pick the mushrooms of magic before going to a pretty wild student party on Princess Avenue. I must have stayed in that house for four days solid getting seriously fucked up, good times, I think.

The gig place was called the Adelphi, the spelling is questionable here but I'm sure the names right.

Shit all this was 20 years ago, odds on things have changed, time waits for no man but surely the Tower for an hour was a listed building, I reckon that place was responsible for 90% of Hullians losing their virginity.

Any way, welcome to the funny farm.

Anyway, welcome.

Yeah I've come across a lot about the revamping already! I shall probably wait until near the end of the month to check my finances nearer pay day Smile Thank you for the links, I read one of the free ones already and it looks awesome. I've never tried writing something of my own accord now which upsets me a bit, I'm in my third, and final, year of an English Literature degree yet create nothing myself Sad As of yet anyway!

Don't even think his name or he will rise from the shadow dimensions to do his evil work on your terrified pants! The best bit of all time is clearly Steve's cushion rant but that unfortunately cannot be summarised into a username Sad

I've got the key to the gates of happiness but I've got too many legs! Ahhh, I don't think anyone has ever really responded to my user name before. This is fun Smile but no, I'm female!

I never went to Tower, but I did do Spiders and Welly. Adelphi is still there! There's still a good local music scene too, or there was the last time I was home anyway!

I just type it all in the comment box, if you know the coding for a quote then all you have to do it go back up and copy and paste their names and comment for multiple quotes! Smile

I went to university in Hull. Newland Avenue! The Hessle Foreshore (technically in Hessle)! Spiders! Asda! Woksoever (technically in Cottingham)! It was brilliant. Truly amazing, eccentric place, deranged accents. I miss it! I wanna hug it. I wanna call the 505050 taxi place to hear the accent, "Fahve-ehr fahve-ehr fahve-ehr" and have them tell me that there are no taxis available in my area. Sigh. Heady days.

505050 were always busy, 444555 was the better choice because even if you picked 505050 by the end of the night there'd be so many 505050 taxis around you wouldn't know which one was actually yours!
