lone Wolfe
Hello everyone,
My name is Wolfe, and I took it from my middle name which is the same, which was given to me on account of my parents being big Tom Wolfe fans, which is how I got into Chuck. I was reading a number of Wolfe's earlier journalistic works and some googly eyed stranger handed me a copy of Stranger Than Fiction. Most journalists are lazy eyed and biased (despite trying to be "objective) yet somehow not insightful, but I found Chuck not only observant, but funny and since then I have read most of his books and my opinion has not changed. So, any members who are into grunge, guitars, and Tom Wolfe (or Hunter S Thompson) please send me a message.

Hello Wolfe,
I'm a fan of Hunter and Chuck too. Welcome to the Cult
Didn't Terry Gilliam do an insane job directing and adapting Fear & Loathing? Have you seen Art Linson's Where the Buffalo Roam with Bill Murray as Hunter? It's worth the watch if you haven't yet.
Ho ho,

Hey Wolfe, welcome! Have you read Haunted?
I want to be your medicine
I want to feed the sparrow in your heart
Hi Wolfe, are you a fan of Moby ?

Oh man, he captured the essence of the book so incredibly well, especially the lizard lounge scene. It was defintly an excellent adaption. And yeah, I have also seen Where the Buffalo Roam. Bill Murray really got the character down (it's just too bad he didn't like much like Hunter, compared to Johnny Depp at least). Do you have a favorite Hunter book?

Actually it's funny that you mention that, I just bought that one and am about to start into it. I'm really looking forward to it, I just have to finish reading the Fyodor Dostoevesky novel I'm in the midst of at the moment.

does anyone else think it's weird to see Tom Wolfe mentioned with Chuck and Hunter s Thompson?
Oh geez, my favorite ... hard to say, although I wish he wrote more fiction. I really liked The Rum Diary and Screwjack (short story compilation). That said, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas and the Kentucky Derby pieces really sing to me.
Honestly, I haven't read anything by Hunter I didn't find sincere and captivating. Even his later work which is often slammed. What about you?
The thing about his writing, for me, is this incredible voice and personality that projects zero tolerance for boredom and a zeal for adventure, you know? I never feel ripped off or lulled when I read Hunter.

They are all/were a bunch of goddamn brilliant journalist fiction writers, yes?
Get the sugar. Get the sugar. Get the sugar.
Well they are talking about publishing his other unwritten novel "Prince Jellyfish" in the Fall of next year, but who knows where that could lead. As for me, I really enjoy Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72, if only because you can apply almost everything in it to todays politics (not to mention the Muskie eating ibogaine story is hilarious). I also really loved Fear and Loathing at the Elko. I do agree with you though, his later work really isn't as bad as people say it is, which is a pity because it turns readers away from it when really he writes alot of his more keen observations in his later years. His analysis of 9/11 is chilling in it's accuracy. Oh well, if you only trust a review and can't make your own opinion, you really don't have much buisness reading about free thought.

I LIEK TWILIGHT!
Ever seen Lone Wolf McQuade? Chuck Norris and David Carradine face off!
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
not to mention the Muskie eating ibogaine story is hilarious
freakin hilarious. Speaking of ibogaine, Burroughs discusses it in Naked Lunch. The very word gives me heart palpitations.

You know, I haven't actually seen that movie as of yet, I just finished watching the two Kill Bills so I've had my dose of David Carradine.

Watch out for Derek or something.

every time I see lone Wolfe with a lower case L I read it like the actress Ione Skye, and then I wonder what happened to her.

and in exchange we will receive what?
So...We are still going to die. Right?
