Just Joined. Looking for a few Pals.
Why 'ello. My name is Jamie and I just joined The Cult. I've read about half of the novels written by Chuck P [Fight Club, Diary, Lullaby, Rant, Snuff, Survivor, Choke, Invisible Monsters], am currently reading 'Pygmy', waiting for a few more from the library, and just ordered 'Fight Club' and 'Tell-All' from Amazon.com. I adore his writing and become addicted. I think my favorite novel so far has been 'Rant'. I'm just looking for some fellow Chuck P fans.
You adore Rant because Rant is Chuck's best book - fact.
You also need to tell us strangers three interesting facts about your fine self.
One must involve food, one spirituality, and one must be a lie. It shouldn't be clear which is which.
This is a priority.
LOL (I'm in a daft mood - sorry) Welcome
SOLARCIDE.COM My blog/writer's hideout. Stories and interviews by me and by special guests. Together we can kill the sun. Come lend a hand.
Latest update - What The Eyes Behold by Mike Frounfelter.
hi.
Hmm....three interesting facts. Let's see:
1) I'm a Quaker.
2) I bake scones on a weekly basis.
3) My addiction to Chuck P is second only to my addiction to chewing gum.
And your mood is just fine. Don't apologize.
As for everyone else, why did you join The Cult?
What's a quaker?
like the oatmeal imke,
ahoy, and welcome to the cult.

“...There are so many ways of being despicable it quite makes one's head spin. But the way to be really despicable is to be contemptuous of other people's pain. You ought to have some apprehension that the man you see before you was once even younger than you are now and arrived at his present wretchedness by imperceptible degrees.”
-James Baldwin
the town I grew up in was a Quaker town but I still don't understand what a Quaker is really. Like Imke I'm curious to know what that means.
Quakers don't stand for the judge, can wear hats in courtrooms, and they get a religious exemption for all of it. They're also known as 'friends'. I don't like religion, but Quakers are guided by their inner light, cool on them.
"They sold you hippies grunge, hip hop, now liberty activism."
I've never heard of that, very interesting.
i havent met any quakers. there's a place i walk past that offers shaker meditation, though. i always thought the quakers and shakers were a similar faith. am i mistaken?

I also have a deep respect for Quakers and their progressive stance on a lot of issues.
I'm glad to spark such lively conversation but that was my lie dear fellow fans of all that is Chuck P. I'm not a Quaker. I go to a private Christian college and was asked the other night by a confused party if my school was the "private Quaker school". I'm boring and lame and believe in the Christian God. Although Quakers are nice people....and also make good oats.
One time I ordered a scone from Starbucks because it seemed civilized to sit and read a book while drinking coffee and eating a scone. It was much harder than I anticipated. It tasted like a stale blueberry muffin.
You just try and act sophisticated and look what happens, Pete
You look like the type of guy / gal, who would like:
I know! I'll stick to my iced green tea and oreo bar whatever it's called. lol
Scones are my favorite! Although I've never had one from Starbucks. Au Bon Pain makes the most AMAZING orange scones in the entire planet.
Who even buys food items at Starbucks anyway? [insert hipster face]
This just made my day.

welcome a board.......
Thanks!
Open question to everyone and anyone who wants to answer: favorite place to get coffee?
My kitchen.
I love my french press! I totally agree.
Although there is a pretty snazzy independently owned coffee shop that makes blended coffees out of kona gold instead of espresso and they are phenomenal. Also @Ritt, Pineapple Express is an amazing movie.
My friends Italian shop where i used to work. It's nothing fancy but it's good espresso and I love getting to make my own cappuccino
You should explore this forum some more, Jamie! I don't think I've seen you post in any thread but your own.
What imke said
Will do! I've posted in the one talking about the novel 'Pygmy'. I'm attempting to spread my wings.

Hi there Welcome to the Cult
