just another new kid...
Chuck was amazing! He gave everyone in the audience roses, and threw plastic rats, hearts, and eyeballs into the audience. I got a heart. He read an unpublished piece called Mr. Elegant. He was very nice to me, and I was fairly articulate. It was amazing.
Also, he says "Hi!" to karbunkle.
ahhh
he probably acted all weird like he didn't even know who i was too i bet
the big lug !
He didn't act very weird, actually. He kinda smiled, and said, "Tell karbunkle hi from Chuck." It was fairly cool, really.
he didn't say that.
sounds like this is just one of those things you need to experience...the reading and all I mean. Not many authors make it around here, well, none really

ha yeah, this place is full of them. Here in WV we lack that kind of, I guess you could say culture. Everybody complains that there is nothing to do around town here, but nobody is really interested in anything worthwhile. Nobody wants the theatre opened up again, nobody wants a better library...and I doubt many people would go to a book signing
I stopped culting for a while a couple of years ago and when I come back randomly one day the first news post is "Chuck in Raleigh Today" which is a two hour drive, but worth it. The date of the post was one day previous.
I AM MARRIED

ECK !
had the same thing happen to me when i was goofing around the web and found one of my heros Bill Irwin was to give a big speech/performance at a local college. this was like Feb 23 and the date for the perfomance was the 25th.
so I'm all excited and got a raging hard on and what not, call down to the hall he was going to be at only to find out "no, we got no oone by that name here this weekend."
come to find out, the web page was an old one from feb 25th of the previous year
absolutely soul-crushing

I hear he's a great guy. One day... one day...
I AM MARRIED
