Introducing your self is so bourgeois.
I've never introduced myself to people I can't see. I'd shake your hand, but mine keeps hitting the glass.
I don't know how much you want to know about me. My favorite author is William S. Burroughs and my favorite director is Stanley Kubrick. I like Dadaism and sometimes I paint things, but I mostly just write. My shoe size is 5, which is hard to find. I hope I am cool enough to hang out with all you kids and I hope you won't lock me out of the house and steal my clothes like my other friends do. My parents think I am very clever and I think my parents are liars.
I hope to see you soon. I mean...read you soon.
Thought is made in the mouth.
welcome. ithinkyou'lldojustfine.
just post away.
welcome to the cult. I wouldn't worry about the clothing.
What have you read by Burroughs so far? Right now I'm finishing up Interzone and I'll be getting to the Cut Up trilogy soon.
Kubrick's great. Its amazing how he got to do what he wanted to even though he worked for major studio (A clockwork orange is his best film, I think).
Size five. I guess that's kind of small.
What?
I've read Naked Lunch, Junkie, Queer, The Lost Boys, part of Interzone and all the essays I could find. I would read more, but I have no money and my puplic libary does not have any of his books.
I like Kubrick's use of symmetry and his obsessive attention detail. And his beard too, I guess. Fuzzy.
Yes, it is.
Thought is made in the mouth.
I've read those too, except the Lost Boys.
Is that the same as the Wild Boys? I haven't read that yet.
What?
Yes. I made a typo.
Thought is made in the mouth.
Yes. I made a typo.
oh.
did you read Naked Lunch, Junkie or another of his first.
I read Naked Lunch first, and it took a long time to get through, but it was definately one of the best books I've ever read.
What?
un chien andalou, hey? ever sliced your eyeballs with a razor then?
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
I read Junkie first. Naked Lunch is definatly my favorite novel ever.
I've never sliced my eyeball, but I did pinch it very hard once. It was a most singularly squishy senstion and now I can't see too well out of that eye.
Thought is made in the mouth.
do you like Dali, lots?
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
I like Ernst better when it comes to that sort of loony painting. Dali's fine though.
Thought is made in the mouth.
OH SNAP! Godspeed means slow, i assumed it meant the speed of God, which i though would be fast like warp 9 or something, shows what i know, welcome the cult!
If you look up Stereotypical Black Teenage Male in the dictionary you will see a picture of me...fucking a cat...with a suprisingly small penis
My Girlfriend: I'm not a cat.
Me: Sure honey...sure.
ernst. oh yeah.

Titling threads like this is so elitist. Oh well. Enjoy your time here in the psycho ward, and be cool.
Junkie was damn good and straightforward.
Its depressing at times, but then really funny and well thought out.
What?
I liked it a lot better than Queer which was in the same sort of style. Queer bored me a bit, but a bad Burroughs novel is much better than a good Nicholas Sparks novel. If there is such a thing. I hate that bastard.

I didn't get bored by Queer, I just found it incredibly impersonal and cold, which is what I think he was going for.
Which one is Nicholas Sparks again?
What?
Maybe I need to give it another reading. Books get better the second time around.
Mr. Spark wrote The Notebook, popular with housewives everywhere. Judging by his writing, he should be identifiable by the sizeable tumor devouring his brain.

oh, that asshole.
What?
That's an insult to assholes. I tend to like assholes if they are attached to someone I am fond of. Mr. Sparks' asshole can kiss my asshole's ass.

I can't think of anything lower right now.
nail clippings?
What?
That'll do, soldier, that'll do.

good, my head hurts.
What?
since this is the Burroughs.chat thread, which do you guys think is more unreadable?
naked lunch or soft machine?

Probably Soft Machine is more difficult, though not unreadable.
Finnigans Wake is nearer to unreadable.
What?
how come? (aka, ive not read it or even come near it)
in comparison to eggs, jizzcakes, slimy gob, aztec priests and cum-upon-cum

I've read through some of Finnigans wake, and there were words a over a hundred letters long and about thirty syllables.
its one of my life's missions to get through that book, and understand it.
What?
ooh fuck that
life's pretty straight without vidalia :You_Rock_
Its worth it. I haven't read it all, but enough to know its worth it.
You could try working up to something that crazy with some Dadaist tomes, like Tristan Tzara's manifestos. Joyce and him were mad tight back in Zurich, yo.
Thought is made in the mouth.
I'm going to read Dubliners and his other works first before I get to Finnigans wake.
What's typical of Tzara's work?
What?
Tzara is credited with pioneering the cut-up method, which got his ass expelled from the surrealist movement. Here are his manifestos, if you'd like to take a peek.
It is not in the style of Finnigans Wake at all; that was Joyce's own. But it was helpful to me opening my mind to the same sort of nonsense with a undercurrent of meaning and all that cal.
Maybe I just have a thing for Tzara; he was pretty sexy. Man with a monocle, after my heart!

pioneered the cut up.
that's worth taking a look at.
What?
Here is a Burroughs essay that mentions Tzara. You might have read it before, I don't know. I'm feeling generous today.

I don't think I've seen this before.
thanks.

Dali and Buneul thought that the Marquis de Sade was the greatest existentialist thinker of all time.
Dali and Buneul thought that the Marquis de Sade was the greatest existentialist thinker of all time.
I haven't read much de Sade yet, so I can't really make my own judgement on that.
It did seem in that vein though.
What?
My parents think I am very clever and I think my parents are liars.
your parents say you're clever? my parents never said i was clever.
That means you really are. They were too jealous to admit it.
