Into the Dark Waters I Plunge
Hi, Everyone:
I found you all while researching formats for my personal website. I was looking for how the big boys and girls do it and -being a P. fan myself- did a Google. So begins my story.
Very brief bio: I'm a fiction writer with Double Dragon Publishing. DDP's in Canada, but I'm in Florida. I "discovered" Palahniuk when I picked up a copy of "Lullaby." It's still my all-time favorite P. novel. And while my interests in metaphysics, quantum physics, and spirituality have a lot to do with my interests in his themes, it would all be for nought without his writing style. Blew me away from the get-go.
Wish I could say that I write like him. But I'm just a late cusp Boomer chick, so my voice isn't anywhere near as edgy and gritty.
Very happy to have joined a cult after all these years and hope to meet everyone in the coming days. Oh, and Happy New Year to one and all ~Kathy N
Hey! Nice to have a normal member for once. Enjoy your stay, and don't forget to sign up for our annual cult chicken killing frenzy.

Thanks very much for the welcome, S. Nice to be on a board where people actually reply.
Thanks for the welcome, LeHaHi. I hope normal isn't too wierd for the forum.
I took the Welcome Thread's advice to heart about just being myself ... which is pretty regular. Probably why I so like this quote from Gustav Flaubert: "Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you may be violent and original in your work."
LOL, Scerpica -oops! Forgot that's too passe'
. Seriously, though, sometimes "grown up" is over rated.
Oh! And how can I go offline just yet without finding out more about the cult chicken killing frenzy.
Welcome, but make sure you don't do too much work today.
It's the first day of the NFL Playoffs, baby.
Perhaps ya'll scared her off. Hopefully, I won't frighten too easily. But be gentle until we know for sure, okay?
Thanks, everyone, for making me so welcome.
Wow, you haven't openly lied or said anything silly in your first 6 posts. This is not a good start for a cultist.

Was the other author Monica Drake, Morey? She's published, and she's on here.
Nate is an adult. He doesn't act it though. Nate Parker and Karbunkle are the same person, just to let you know.
More to come on CCKF.

I think he means Luddy Dunn (Karen Novak). She was on here a while back.
But yes - welcome to the Cult.

Maybe she'll turn out to be a sociopath, or a dominatrix, or a Republican, or a man, and then "normal" won't apply anymore.
Hello Kathy.
What have you written? Who's the biggest idiot in your town? Do you like Ben & Jerry's?
How many times a day do you use the word "darnedest"?
Are there cockroaches anywhere in your house?
Do you have friends made of snow?
If peanuts are not nuts, what are they?
thanks for sharing.blackhawk tactical pants.

"I could have done worse!" exultantly cried the murderer Lebret, sentenced at Rouen to hard labor for life. — Félix Fénéon
yeah Luddy came on here to do some research for a character of hers that was doing the online forum thing and she got swallowed whole by it
i think being sweet-talked into showing up for the big meet-up was the final straw and she realized she had to get out !
anyways, welcome to the show K.L. and whats with all the quantum physics stuff? do you just write science textbooks or what?
I used to love playing Double Dragon back in the day!

Can't you wait till she's settled in before you hit on her.

No, because someone else will snatch her.

I'll get to work on a few good lies. Meanwhile, it's only a matter of time before I say something that'll overshoot silly altogether and plunge into outright stupidity. Please be patient. It'll happen with minimal effort from me ~Kathy

Sociopath: Nah. Dominatrix: :spankme: Only my hubby knows for sure. Republican: I'm done with all politcal party affiliations. Been Rep, Dem and Libertarian at one point or another. Had it, fed up, goin' my own way. And I find discussion of politics as fruitless as a party affiliation, so I just focus on "do." A man: Uh, no ....not that there's anything wrong with that ...
Who's the biggest idiot in your town: It's a big town. There are many candidates and I just might be the likeliest contender. Do you like Ben & Jerry's: Yes, but unless it's a special occasion, no can have. I often go by the ice cream section and blow kisses at the cartons, though. How many times a day do you use the word "darnedest": It's damndedest thing, but I've never counted.
Are there cockroaches anywhere in your house:Puhlease! We don't have cockroaches, we have palmetto bugs. What have you written: Mostly thrillers, mysteries, all slightly on the dark side, but they pale in comparison to P. At least they make me smile, though. Do you have friends made of snow: I did ... but when I moved south, our friendship trickled away. If peanuts are not nuts, what are they: The answer's not worth a hill of beans.
Wow, what a quiz. I'm exhausted. And worried. I'm wondering if you all aren't just softening me up for the cook pot ~Kathy

I'm taking Luddy's experience into into account and am poised to flee if I have to. But thanks very much for the welcome. My understanding of quantum physics doesn't even hit the layman level, but not understanding something's never stopped me before. I'm sure the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know" is well known to the cult. I didn't buy into the whole flick, so my recommedation is tentative; but the underlying subject of the movie is pretty much the same subject that attracts me to quantum physics.

I don't stalk hermaphrodites, I am a hermaphrodite who stalks other people.
Never ever mind.

Ya, it sucked.

I liked it except for the last ten minutes, which sucked the way so many Japanese horror movies I've seen sucked. Except I saw the American version, which made it sad.
I am in love with Jennifer Connelly.

also i worked with a guy that was convinced! that if you put a horse hair into stagnant water it would turn into a snake
one time we actually brought in a horse hair and said we were going to try it and he freaked the fuck out !
Kathy, welcome. I've pretty much "grown up" on the Cult (I started posting here when I was 18) and I can vouch for its awesomeness. And its chicken killings. It's always cool to have someone here who can live the dream, too, i.e. make it as a writer. Rock on.
There is hope, but not for us.
I'm gonna be honest with you here Mrs.Nappier....
You seem like a fiend.
i've seen Fiend used as a noun, verb, adjective and adverb but can it be used as a preposition ?
i don't know what that is but it ain't a preposition
HaHaHa! you spelt "grammer" wrong!
^not sarcasm, it's a new concept i'm developing called"absurdism"^
welcome!
very intelligent quote
:o
Don't ya love that? It's one of my all time favorites. Another of my favorites, but has nothing to do with writing, is by Oscar Wilde and -off the top of my head- goes something like: "I've found that alcohol, taken in sufficient quantities, produces all the effects of drunkenness."
did anyone see that movie Dark Water?
i didn't but i bet it stinks!
Yeah, can't say it impressed me. Hubby n me thought it started okay and it seemed nice and moody. But I agree with everyone. It pretty much fell apart as it went along.~ Kathy

I hope that's a good thing. Either that, or I really need to go to Glamour Shots for my next photo..

welcome kathy.
happy new year to you too.
