I'm new....... Suprised?
Hi!
My name is Veronica and I'm new round here.
I discovered Chuck's novels through an article in Rolling Stone magazine and was intreagued into buying several of his books and asking for some as presents for upcoming events such as birthdays. My favourite book would have to be Haunted.
I found this website when trying to find a way to send some stories i wrote to Chuck.
Not sure what else to say so i'll just let you make up your own mind on me.
Hey, veronica ! ! !!! !
welcome to the cult, it's nice to see you come around. i think that many people, even many of the Cultists here, would probably choose haunted as their favorite among chuckster's books had they not spent so much time with survivor and choke and im so many years before the release of haunted. i did my best to forget all of the other books in his so-far arsenal while reading it. just couldnt get the humor of survivor outta my head, and the platform for im was unbelievably rich in craft. but, had i read haunted first, especially the story exodus, well i dont know. a great current canterbury tales meets allen poe though
as for your stories.. i have bad news and i offer some good news..
due to some extremely confused kids a number of years ago suing chuck and the film company in a multimillion dollar fashion, the kids saying they invented fight club and chuck stole the idea and ran with the money, and a number of other reasons, chuck is not allowed to read other people's unpublished work unless it is a strict personal friend--like monica drake for instance. though he has always replied to letters, especially when the window is opened, he'll never read unsolicited work. he doesnt want to get sued.
-by the way, as a number of other people here know, chuck did not steal anyone's ideas when he created fight club but rather pulled the themes from his real life. he's spoken about it on a number of interviews and articles. i mean, his first two books couldnt get published and he was fed up so he decided to make a book that they certainly wouldnt publish but that the publishing houses would certainly not forget. and low and behold, fight club was published and a few years later his first two books were published and all that history stuff
haunted was badass, but rant looks to be better..
ok..i offered some good news:
this site is the location of chuck's online workshop on writing. he no longer assigns homework and he no longer sends in the essays, but the recaps are available and with those and stories already submitted and reviewed by others, there is certainly enough material to study and grasp each of the essays if you do the work and write your ass off..
start with the first one, the one on authority. read the essay recap. study it a couple of days. then write a story using the technique. read other stories using the technique submitted by other workshoppers. review those stories, really get into the mechanics, dig your fingers in and pull it apart and give your opinion on whether that writer was affective or not.. then rewrite your story using the technique you just yourself critiqued. learn from what others say. go on to essay recap number 2.
im personally glad you came here, because your post reads like you brought pages and there are many of us here to not only learn but to also improve what we learn and there is a very able workshop here. we are currently reviving the huge beast and need new people to partake.
some of us look forward to publishing for many reasons and one of those reasons is so we can send the published magazine or book to chuck and inscribe thanks for the help
cheesy I know but I havent come across another author who has offered what chuck has bent backwards to provide
hopefully i'll see you in the workshop. and if not, i hope to see you around the cult

every time i see he's posted something I can't help but hang my head down and shake it
poor guy, he tries so hard
But what a delightful adventure each post is! I really try to stay out of it because there is no reasoning with someone that sees their opinion as law. Keeps things lively.

hi Veronica,
They are selling this cd on tv that claims to have more monsters of "hair" than any other rock collection yet! It has Warrant and everything. "She's my Cherry Pie!" Ok, I think I just threw up a little.
Anyway, Velcome. (and feel free to take a side on the flip-flop issue)
yeah Hi also
I meant to say that before but I got carried away with other things there
Veronica - welcome - I didn't properly express that before.
How are you enjoying life?
