I was on a hiatus...I guess.
Hey, I am Madelyn...obviously.
I originally created my Cult account a little over 2 years ago and I was active for a while and then lost interest or became too busy at school.
I am 22 and I recently graduated with a BA in Communication with a minor in English and a certificate in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Two weeks after graduating I moved to the Twin Cities in Minnesota for a job. I moved here on a whim and I am gradually becoming more comfortable with the area. I have been here a month now and decided I should start being more active in creating a new social life....and I ended up back at the Cult...odd.
I was actually looking for a book club to join in the area and I was having troubles finding one that sounded perfect and then I remembered you guys! So if anyone lives in the Twin Cities let me know and I hope I can get back in the swing of things here.
And..that's it.
Welcome... I guess.
It's a vortex I tell you.

Since we've been wrong, you'll never ever ever know me.....
Step back. Evaluate. Recognize.
Welcome back. (:
It seems since I moved I haven't been doing "fun" stuff, but I am a sucker for a good conversation and/or irrelevant banter.
Friends make a world of difference.
I like coffee and booze.
I like driving my car, it doesn't matter where I am going because I think everything is an adventure. I was very sad to find out it needs $900 worth of work done on the brakes. Eeek!
And of course I enjoy books/music/movies.
Thanks... I guess.
You were here when I first signed up. Looks like we got a lifer.
From the floorboards to the fly, here I was fated to reside.
Lobster? Is Cujo a good name for a cat? Watch out for that cunt Derek! Which would win a fight: A sun ray or 100 Plutos?
No. Yes. Someone referred to as cunt I usually get along with. The Pluto's because they have fooled everyone.
What was this like?
A course like that was mandatory during our study. It was one of the most pointless things I've ever done. What a load of bullcrap.
Welcome back!

Oh, I loved it. I think it was one of the most beneficial things I did through my schooling. I learned a lot. The cap of the program was taking our studies and applying them in the community. We worked with a homeless shelter and taught Conflict Seminars that were finished with a performance of the Theater of Empowerment.
My professor created a blogspot showcasing our work. I can't remember the rules on posting other websites so I won't post it at this time, maybe some other time.
Ahh, at least you were actually doing something. Our course was nothing but sitting and discussing cases. It was all theory.

Yeah, I guess it all depends on how it was taught.

there are no rules except if it's dirty to mark it NSFW.

Alright, here is the link to our Conflict Program.
Ritt stole my thing!
Also, welcome.
And i live in St Paul and have no idea where you would find a book club. I didn't think people did that in real life.
Oh nice! Well do you have any recommendations for anything that isn't lame?
So far MN = Lame.
And don't even get me started about the drivers!
In all seriousness, I am trying to get an idea of this place from someone real...not from one of my rich bosses or the lying internet. I need insight!
Minnesota, i don't know. Where did you come from? Where do you live now? If you live in Minneapolis or St Paul it shouldn't be too hard to find something worth doing.
We've all kinds of lakes and shit. Calhoun, Harriet, what have you. A lot of pretty woodsy areas about as well. If you like hip hop, Minneapolis is probably the place to be. If you like underground hip hop, anyway. Though, i think most of those guys are blowing up.
I really don't know. I don't much like Minnesota, but it's probably pretty similar to most other cities. Oh, go to the State Fair. It's kind of a big deal here and usually a pretty good time. But, yeah, not really sure what you're looking for. Uptown and Dinkytown are pretty cool, though i think they're probably overrun by hipsters. As far as bars and things like that, i've no idea. Only been to one bar here and i don't remember it. First Avenue's good for music, usually.
Just, um, wander about and figure out what you want to do. Lots of scenic beauty and lakes, so find a spot and enjoy the 70% humidity.
I'm from Southeast WI, near Milwaukee and I now live very close to the cities...pretty much in the burbs of them.
It feels like I am in the same place I came from... just more north. I guess it will just take time to figure stuff out. Thanks for the input I will keep my eye out for the places you mentioned

Well, Minnesota's definitely way better than Wisconsin. Living outside the cities is probably a bit annoying, depending how for you live away. Me, i've always been a city boy. The suburbs, well, they're suburbs, great places to grow old in, but not much more than that.
But, yeah, there's a lot here if you're looking for it, i guess.
Question: When I was active here the first time I participated in a Camera project...type thing. I think 3 disposable cameras were sent out and everyone took 3 pictures and sent it on to the next person. When I stopped posting here there was a hold on the project because they were waiting for another camera. It was hosted by McMuddle...did anything ever come from that? I would love to see the final result!
nothing EVER comes of those. They've tried it three times now.
That is such a bummer!!! I know the camera I got made it back but McMuddle didn't want to post any pictures until ALL the cameras came back. Lame.
McMuddle doesn't live here anymore.

What do you do for fun?
Welcome back. (:
