I hate being new
Hey guys,
So, I've been roaming this website for a while now but never signed up just cause I hat ehat new feeling. So I figured I might as well get it over with.
I gotta say, I've read all chuck's books except Choke. It was refreshing to find a current author who actually writes decently as well as keeps you interested. none of that romance crap. what stinks is that once you've read chuck its hard to find other books you like. any suggestions?
thanks - I've noticed they have house of leaves on the site. that's a cool book.
yeah, I've read it. it was pretty sweet. er.. is pretty sweet.. I guess.

wow - thats quite the list. guess i need to go to the bookstore again.
yeah, I'm all about borrowing books, but I always give them back, but no one ever gives mine back to me. jerks

i don't know. I always have to own the books i read. prolly cause i hate giving them back. i get too attached to them. you spend so much time with them, ya know? how can you just get rid of them like that?
well, I guess I'm cheap. I mean I like to own books too, but any one particular book isn't necessarily something you'd use every day, like, say... drugs, or a dust devil mini vac. It's ok with me to own the really good books (palahniuk, cicero, dante, calvin and hobbes) and borrow the other... or at least buy them for really cheap at a used place.

YES! Another person who thinks that calvin and hobbes ranks with dante. But I need to own books. I let others borrow them (ok, just my close friend... but she's pretty close to keeping them in sealed plastic packages), but I just can't borrow from others.

Borrow, buy ,steal. Whatever. Just nice to meet another new member who enjoys reading. And Choke was my 1st Palahniuk novel, so congrats.
I think Calvin and Hobbes is solely responsible for my stellar vocabulary skills today.

Dude, those books were all about the transmogrifier! I wanted one to exist for so long.
hell yeah "transmogrify" My parents took those books away from me when I was a kid, I got too many ideas. I actually tried to sell their car (well, more as a joke, I knew no one in their right mind would buy our car). remember when calvin got the soap and wrote "4 sale cheep" on the windshield. That was great!

I like all the snowmen ones and how they philosophy about life while whizzing down that huge hill in a wagon
used bookstores are definitely a great place for books - especially hard cover first editions that aren't super famous yet
oh, yeah... I own some books, don't get me wrong. I'm not that cheap. I just don't own, say..... the pokey little puppy .... okay, I do. but I don't have to explain myself to you. so there.

just happy to hear that you own books. its sad when people don't books. sadder still when people don't read. what's worse - not reading books you don't own or owning books you haven't read?
sorry - i mean reading books you don't own or not reading books you do own???
um, i'd say anything involving not reading is bad. except warning labels. they can all burn in hell.
